Nakime (鳴なき女め, Nakime?), also known as the Demon of Biwa (琵び琶わ鬼おに, Biwa oni?), is a character in the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. She was a Demon who belonged to the group of the Twelve Demonic Moons holding the position of the Upper Moon Four (上じょう弦げんの肆し, Jōgen no Shi?) after the death of Hantengu[3].

Appearance

Before becoming one of the Twelve Demonic Moons, she was an extremely pale woman, with a shade similar to gray. Her hair was dark brown, reaching up to her eyes and falling to her back. Her nails were pointed and very light blue [4]. After becoming the Upper Fourth Moon, her hair stopped covering her eye and it is revealed that she actually has a large pink cyclopean eye with the kanji for "Four", representing her rank [3 ] her. Her signature outfit consisted of a simple black kimono with white stockings and no sandals. Furthermore, she always carried a biwa with her [4].

Personality

Nakime was always characterized by being very silent and calm even in situations where the rest of her classmates usually showed concern[4]. She didn't speak unless necessary or the situation required it; The few times she articulated a word, she tried to keep her responses as short as possible [5].

Synopsis

Functional Recovery Training Arc: Nakime, under the orders of Muzan Kibutsuji, gathers all the Lower Moons after Rui's death[1] and proceeds to eliminate them all, except for Enmu. Nakime did not utter a word nor does he seem to care about the death of all the demons. After the massacre, he sounds his biwa again for Muzan to leave the Fortress, at the same time leaving Enmu in the middle of a street.[2] Entertainment District Arc: Following the deaths of Daki and Gyutaro, Nakime calls out to the Upper Moons. Akaza asks her about the location of Muzan Kibutsuji and Upper Moon One, to which she replies that Muzan has not arrived yet. After Doma is struck by Akaza, Nakime sounds her biwa to get attention and says that Upper Moon One was actually the first to arrive. Shortly after, Muzan also makes an appearance.[3] After the meeting, Gyokko requests that Hantengu be sent to the same place as him. Nakime sounds his biwa and sends them both to the same place. When Doma asks to be sent with them, Nakime refuses and returns him to his temple.[4] Pillar Training Arch: At some point after Hantengu and Gyokko's deaths, Nakime received blood from Muzan Kibutsuji and transformed into the Upper Moon Four. While the Demon Slayers were undergoing Pillar Training, Nakime used her new technique to leave eyes in different locations in order to track the Demon Slayers and find Kagaya Ubuyashiki's hideout. Muzan congratulates her on her growth.[5]

Infinite Dimensional Fortress Arc: When the Demon Slayers enter the Infinite Dimensional Fortress in search of Muzan Kibutsuji, they are all separated into different groups probably thanks to Nakime's control.[6] Obanai Iguro and Mitsuri Kanroji are the Pillars that Nakime encounters. Both Hunters attempt to attack but are completely unable to get close due to Nakime's control over the entire room.[7] Nakime even has the ability to separate Muichiro Tokito and Gyomei Himejima, who are in a separate room. The two Pillars continue to fight Nakime. Obanai realizes that while she is unable to kill them, they cannot get close to her either. In this way, Nakime is causing the Demon Slayers to lose two of their best fighters. [9] Apparently, Nakime managed to kill with both of them, according to Muzan Kibutsuji while fighting Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado, but the reality is that his vision was being controlled by Yushiro and everything before was false. It can also be seen that the Infinite Dimensional Fortress is slowly being warped. [10] When Muzan Kibutsuji realizes what is happening to Nakime, he attempts to regain control by poisoning Yushiro while also trying to remove his mind control. As the mental battle progresses, the Infinite Dimensional Fortress becomes weaker and weaker and begins to collapse. Muzan realizes that he will not be able to regain control of Nakime, especially with so many Pillars nearby trying to kill him. With no other options, Muzan closes his hand and Nakime's head explodes, killing him instantly and causing the Fortress to collapse.[11]

Powers and Abilities

Demon Skills: Nakime's full capabilities are unknown as she has never been seen in combat, but as the Upper Moon Four, her abilities must be at least superior to those of Kaigaku and Gyutaro. Her great concentration should be noted, as she fought against two Pillars and did not lose her cool at any time. "Demon Blood Technique" (血けっ鬼き術じゅつ,, Kekkijutsu?): As a member of the Twelve Demon Moons, she is capable of using the Demon Blood Technique and developed an ability that allows her to manipulate the Infinite Dimensional Fortress. It is known that her abilities are related to her biwa. She is not focused on combat, unlike the rest of the Upper Moons, but she is still one of the strongest in terms of utility. With her technique she is able to perform: Fortress Control: Nakime is able to control the entire Infinite Dimensional Fortress by simply blowing her biwa. She is able to create entrances and exits anywhere, as well as being able to move the Fortress to wherever she wants. She can move and create entire rooms and walls. In order to use this ability, Nakime must stand still in one place. Obanai Iguro notes that while it is difficult for Nakime to kill with the ability, she is also very difficult to hit.[6]

Automaton Eyes: After receiving blood from Muzan Kibutsuji and becoming the Upper Moon Four, Nakime is able to create eyes that walk on their own. Nakime uses this ability to spy from a long distance and is the one she used to find Kagaya Ubuyashiki's hideout.
