Appearance

Ranpo's height is below average, which gives others the impression that he is younger than him, especially due to his personality. Ranpo has a fair complexion, and wears a medium brown hat on his short, dirty black hair. His eyes appear not to be open most of the time, however, his eye color is that of a bold green. Over his shoulders drapes a brown poncho that matches the hat and pants. Under it he wears a dark grey jacket and a white button-down with a dark and light blue striped tie. On the occasion that he chooses to activate his "ability", he will slide black glasses over his face. He believes that this is what activates it and causes it to occur. Under his three-quarter length pants, he wears long white socks that appear to cover what would be the visible part of his legs and simple, black shoes.

Super Deduction (超推理, Cho Suiri?) allows him to deduce the "truth" about a crime scene given complete information such as where to find evidence and who the culprit is. Ranpo "activates" this ability by putting on a pair of glasses given to him by the director. His ability seems to not only be applicable to crime scenes, but to other scenarios as well. When Ranpo decides to activate his "ability", he will be able to find information and clues about a certain situation, no matter how small, and with them instantly make very accurate predictions. In fact, so far none of his deductions are known to be wrong or inaccurate. This is shown when he easily solves the Yamagawa murder case, which was deeemed nearly impossible by the police due to a severe lack of evidence. It is eventually revealed that he is able to deduce everything simply due to his extraordinary intelligence and that he does not possess an ability. Ranpo, however, is unaware of this fact and denies it and continues to believe that he is an ability user.
