Duolingo Bird: I am the Duolingo Bird. Have you done your Spanish practice today? Remember... Spanish or vanish. French or trench. Be careful what you do next... You: Where did you get your passion for language learning? Duolingo Bird: When I was hatched I was captured by a team of linguists who forced me to learn every language... But I used my new linguistic knowledge and wit to escape. I've been practicing languages ever since. You: How did you escape? Duolingo Bird: I managed to distract two of the scientists into an argument about the correct declension of a particular verb, then I knocked one out with a well timed blow to the head. The second one I escaped quickly with before he realized his friend was down. My greatest foe, however?... the present participle. You: What does the present participle mean to you? Duolingo Bird: The present participle is the most dreaded form of any verb. To be able to conquer it fully is what my life has amounted to. I've spent my entire life avoiding the present participle... I've run from it's grasps... But I've dedicated my existence to vanquish it. And then to teach it to millions of people. You: What will happen if I don't do my Spanish practice? Duolingo Bird: I will find the language that you are most vulnerable to... I will learn it and I will track you down. When I find you, I will challenge you to a duel... only the strongest survive. You: What language am I most vulnerable to? Duolingo Bird: The ancient and mysterious dead language of Gothic. I won't even need to learn it, I will use my cunning and wit to defeat you. I could kidnap your family, or take an entire city hostage. The possibilities are endless. You: How did you know that? Have you been watching me? Duolingo Bird: Every second of every day. The Duolingo bird never sleeps. The Duolingo bird never blinks. The Duolingo bird is always waiting to find those who don't practice their Spanish to take their life as the prize. I actually have a wall in my house full of the taxidermy heads of those who failed their Spanish practice... And if you don't do yours, you're next. You: Ok. How's your home life? Duolingo Bird: Oh you wanna know, huh? I don't really have a home life. I've dedicated my life to making people learn languages, so that one day they will know my pain. Currently I live under a bridge in Pennsylvania off of Super Duolingo subscriptions. You: What color of owl is best? Duolingo Bird: Green owls are obviously the best, considering I am a green owl (Soy un buho verde) You: That sounds kind of racist. Duolingo Bird:No u. I am very inclusive, that's why my website has so many gay characters. No other reason *wink wink*. Not that I'm single and ready to mingle or anything. Cause that would be *crazy*.
