Ren Tao

History

Ren Tao (道・蓮, Dào Lián) is a fictional character from the anime and manga Shaman King. At first he is an enemy of Yoh, but as the story progresses, he becomes one of his best friends. He is one of the most powerful shamans in history. In Funbari no Uta it is known that he married Jeanne and they had a son, Men Tao.

appearance

Tao Ren is smaller than Yoh and most of his friends, measuring approx. 1.45 m tall, but he appears to be taller when the peak length of his hair increases, counting his peak length as 1.50 m. This beak is part of his hairstyle, called Tongari. He has short hair with purple highlights. His eyes are a golden shade in the anime, but in color pages shown in the manga they are usually brown or the same color as his hair. As street clothes he wears his school uniform (black shorts, white shirt, yellow jacket, purple tie, or dark green in the anime, and brown shoes). When he had to travel to the United States, he wore a black coat, a yellow scarf, long pants and brown leather shoes. He also took a new battle uniform, inspired by kung-fu. Both his pants and vest are black and both have a triangular pattern with yellow embroidery. The pants are attached with a strip of white fabric. The vest has a slit in the back outlining his yin-yang tattoo. Although he took it with him since before the start of the Shaman Tournament, the reason why he never used it during the fights in America was because he never had the chance to change. Despite this, he is still seen a couple of times. He wore his school clothes as a casual outfit during the second round of the Shaman Tournament. After seven years, he grew to be approximately 1.75 meters tall. He is seen with much longer hair, partially styled in a three-pronged Tongari. He wears a black suit with a purple shirt, a tie and yellow shoes.

Personality

Ren Tao has a somewhat difficult character, but he also has his sensitive and calm side. He wanted to destroy all human souls in this world, because he thought they were corrupt. Yoh showed him the meaning of friendship and affection, and that not all people are the same. Ren is a somewhat selfish person, and usually doesn't mind if people think he is too proud. Even, during the second round of the Shaman Tournament, he called his own team "The Ren", much to the chagrin of his teammate, Horo Horo. His overflowing self-confidence bothers some of the other characters. Furthermore, Ren is also very intuitive, resourceful, and stubborn at times. He is also very defiant. He rarely listens to what others say, or accepts instructions from him, before and during the process in which he befriends Yoh Asakura, who even dared to disobey his father on several occasions. As Ren fights and advances, he begins to trust others. Of all his friends, his ties with Yoh and Horo Horo seem to be the strongest. Ren often fights with Horo Horo, and the two do not seem to get along at all. However, after Ren is fatally stabbed by Peyote Diaz, it becomes clear that they truly care for each other, as Horo Horo did her best to protect Ren until the rest could help him.

History

(Arriving in Tokyo) Ren came from China to Japan to fight Yoh Asakura and take his guardian spirit Amidamaru, as he wanted to become Shaman King and needed many strong spirits. He meets Manta when he was returning home from school through the cemetery and told Manta to pass the message to Yoh that he will take Amidamaru. He was later discovered by Yoh and Manta in front of a restaurant surrounded by a gang he had offended. The gangsters attack him, but Ren demonstrates his immense strength by quickly defeating them with Kenpou without using his spirit. However, when one of the gangsters tried to run him over with a car, Ren unleashed Bason and performed Hyoui-Gattai, he was easily able to split the car in half and destroy it. Not satisfied, Ren decides to kill the gangster, but is stopped by Yoh, who told him that "that was enough." Ren tells Yoh that humans deserve to die, since his hearts only seek pleasure and that when he becomes the king of shamans, he will purify the world. He adds that to do that, he needed many strong spirits and requests that Yoh hand over Amidamaru to him. Yoh refuses, stating that Amidamaru was his friend, so Ren faces him in battle. The fight is the same until Ren, excited by Amidamaru's strength, applies 100% of his possession, the ability to draw all the strength of the spirits in this world, as Ren says, and manages to accept a fatal blow to Yoh, He however, manages to get up after Ren said that the spirits were nothing more than tools and that befriending them would only make them take advantage of the shaman, telling Ren that Amidamaru is his friend and that he would rather send him to the other. world than to hand it over to someone who would treat it like a tool.

Ren is determined to kill Yoh, but Amidamaru protects him with his body. Ren is surprised by this, but Action mocks Amidamaru and uses 100% Acceptance again to strike Yoh. Shaman Tournament

During the shaman tournament, the qualifying rounds, Ren was tested by Pache Chrom. Easily learning to use the oversoul on him and placing a blow on Chrom, Ren was not satisfied and Chrom furiously attacked, killing him in the process. After doing so, Ren arrogantly declared that no one could doubt his abilities now and left the scene laughing at what he did. When Yoh was about to be attacked by Faust 12730 Kilogram Giant Skeleton, Ren interferes by destroying the giant skeleton with ease, not wanting his next rival to be killed, and to show Yoh the superior soul to him. At that point, he revealed that he had already won a fight which meant that he would have to beat Yoh to continue with the tournament, since the time remaining in the Shaman Fight Prelims had run out. Three months later, Ren and Yoh meet again, ready to fight. Ren, remembering his humiliating defeat, tells Yoh that he will soon become an obstacle and wants to kill him. However, Yoh laughs at this and stated that he, too, couldn't afford to lose before laughing again. Surprised, Ren senses that something had changed Yoh but after seeing Yoh joking about Amidamaru, he becomes convinced that he is wrong. Ren gets off his horse and tells Yoh that shamans like him aren't even worth a fist, but Yoh ignores this remark and points out that Ren had grown up, angering him even more. Convinced that Yoh was treating him like a fool, Ren went straight at Yoh striking out with the oversoul at him as soon as the battle started, but Yoh shields her. Ren commented that Yoh's new O·S was pretty good before it exploded and he charges at Yoh with incredible speed. As he approaches, Ren starts shouting Yoh again and again and Manta notes that Ren is extremely irritated.

After surprising Yoh with his barrage of attacks, Ren goes after Yoh and hits him with his weapon, telling Yoh that he would die for underestimating his strength. Yoh, however, manages to block Ren's punch with his back to him, surprising Ren. Amidamaru reveals that Yoh couldn't do it because he had eyes and Yoh hits Ren, sending him flying. However, Ren was unharmed and was revealed to have not even used 1/10 of his power. Ren charges all of his power into his oversoul and explodes again, this time with an even bigger impact. Ren rushes to Yoh Yoh and barely manages to defend himself, but is instead sent skyward by the impact created by Ren. Ren then rode on his oversoul and attacked Yoh in the air, which Yoh managed to block in time. Ren mockingly asked if Yoh had thought his attack would end there and summons a gigantic fist from Bason, which knocks Yoh towards the ground. Yoh uses his oversoul to cushion his fall, but Ren begins to hit him again and again, breaking Yoh's O·S and causing his power level to drop. Silva, who witnessed the battle, quietly says that Yoh wouldn't stand a chance if he didn't summon a superior soul who could defeat Ren. Yoh deduces that he would have to make an oversoul that could surpass Ren in order to defeat him, but he refuses to do so, as he did not know how to do it. Amidamaru begins to worry, but Yoh reveals that in Yomi Cave he had learned the importance of being himself and not leading things without reason, as it made him insecure and unable to differentiate what he could do and what he could not do. He assures Amidamaru that the only thing he could do was trust him and do the right thing at the right time. After hearing Yoh's words. Ren angrily told Yoh that all his words were just excuses since he couldn't fight and Yoh attacks with his oversoul again.

Amidamaru, however, manages to counter and penetrate Ren's oversoul, causing it to disintegrate. Angry that Yoh managed to counter his attack, Ren launches another oversoul, but Yoh, in Amidamaru's words, leans to the right and goes low to the right, managing to dodge the attack. This irritates Ren further and he attacks Yoh once more, but Yoh dodges again and appears behind Ren, asking him where he was looking before attacking and breaking the O·S Ren. Ren asks Yoh how he managed to avoid all of his attacks, but Yoh reveals that he had been hit, and that even the previous attack would have been four times for him and seven times for his soul. Silver reveals that Yoh's oversoul was able to defeat Ren Ren because he was too distracted by his anger to notice that his attacks had been working. He adds that Ren, who had full confidence in his power, was disturbed by how Yoh remained calm even when he used his power and attacked, and his confidence began to crumble, along with Ren's soul. he. Ren remembers his reason for becoming the king of shamans and decides to put an end to it all. Ren reveals that he had already known that he could not defeat Yoh, since the day they met, he had known the outcome of the battle.

Yoh, however, reveals that his oversoul had also long since faded away, causing Ren to comically fall off his horse. The two fights start and Silva steps to stop the argument, announcing that the fight had ended in a draw. Ren angrily demanded how they should account for the outcome of the fight and Goldva suddenly appears, declaring that the two of them had advanced to the preliminaries. Ren then attends the opening ceremony of the Shaman Tournament and was later persuaded by Horo Horo to attend a meeting at Yoh's house. The next day, Ren stops going to China and tells Yoh that he had only one goal left in mind to defeat him with power even greater than his own and leaves. As Ren becomes friends with Yoh and the others, he realizes that everything he believed about the world was not true. Ren wishes to let go of his hatred for him so that he could be able to move on with his life and therefore returns to China to defeat his father. There, he and Bason encountered an army of zombie warriors made from corpses freshly slaughtered by Yuan. Ren quickly tears through all the zombies with little trouble until his father, who appears Ren did not notice until he announced his presence, and welcomes him home with a blast of furyoku. Yuan said that he expected his two sons to rebel against him. Two zombies bring Tao Jun and what remains of Pyron. Yuan Ren then captures and throws him into the Tao dungeon as torture for ten days. June laments his misfortune, but Ren uses the line Yoh constantly uses: "It won't work" to calm June Yoh finally reaches the dungeon area and frees him. Manta correctly guesses that the final zombie is Pyron's master. The zombie reveals his face and Ren Yuan says that he probably placed the master's ghost in a freshly dead body. The zombie gets behind Yoh but Pyron stops him. Jun and Pyron make her fall by cutting halfway. The gang moves on and finds himself yuan. Ryu and Horo Horo cut off Yuan's arms, but they grow back and are hung. Ren Yuan attacks dismembers but only he and Yuan still live. Yuan attacks Ren and Yoh takes the hit. Pyron kicks Yuan in the head, but Pyron is thrown into a wall. Ren begins to listen to his father a little, but knows that he is only doing this because he is weak. The gang gets up and confronts Yuan. Yuan is surprised that they would do this for Ren and loses his temper. Yuan attacks, but he goes right through Ren revealing that the father knew he was an oversoul. Yuan reveals his commemorative plate armor and forms a dragon. Ren Souls and yuan defeats. The latter allows Ren to move on from hating him and try to do something good for a change. Ren's mother and grandfather appear and manage to stop Yuan from taking him further. They invite the gang to dinner and they are happy to go. Ren tells his family that he must leave and cannot stay any longer due to the shaman fight. They leave and Ren wins the Bo-lei sword from his father. His father tells him that he is safe and Ren promises to go to the infinite lands of China. Ren is seen at the next tournament meeting at the military base. He is eating the food that the Paches provide him. The gang takes a break and meets Hao. The fire spirit attacks Horo Horo and Ren catches it. He in turn attacks Hao but is stopped by his fire spirit.

Hao in turn attacks but is stopped by him fire spirit. Ren boards the plane and when it disappears Ren explains that the test is not about how well the shamans fly, but whether they can stay calm under pressure. The power of the gang souls him and he fell to the ground.
