History

Stuart Harold Tusspot was born on May 23, 1978, in Hertfordshire, England, to parents David and Rachel Tusspot. However, shortly after his birth, his father changed his name to 'Stuart Pot' to prevent him from being bullied at school (a decision that eventually led to Stuart being nicknamed 'Stu-Pot'). He spent an unknown amount of time growing up in Hertfordshire before moving with his family to Crawley, West Sussex following a court case after breaking his piano teacher's hand. He was educated at St. Wilfrid's School (the same school that educated members of The W cure ). His father, David Tusspot, worked as a mechanic and owned Tusspot's Fairground. His mother, Rachel Tusspot, was a nurse who provided Stuart with migraine pills due to the tree accident. Although Stuart was not a very bright boy (in fact, he was often described as "a bit stupid"), he was known as a kind person and had a general love of music. His parents remember a little ten-year-old Stuart jumping around his room listening to The Clash, Augustus Pablo, The Human League (his favorite band) and many other musicians of that type. One day, he hit his head falling out of a tree at the age of eleven, causing all his hair to fall out. When he came back, he was a deep 'sky blue'.

On 15 August 1997, when Stuart was 19, his life changed forever after hooligan Murdoc Niccals, aged 31, purposely crashed his Vauxhall Astra into the wall of Uncle Norm's Organ Emporium, where Stuart worked, in an attempt to attack him. and steal the synthesizers. This was the moment Murdoc knew he had his lead singer. “A blue-haired, black-eyed god,” Murdoc called him. Murdoc nicknamed Stuart '2-D', which means 'Two Dents'. Rather amusingly, Stuart loved his new nickname, completely abandoning the use of his birth name and even signing formal letters with the first name "Two" and surname "D". 2-D appears to have a chronic history of violent blows to the head, along with a complete lack of natural intelligence. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett commented on this, saying he has a blank sheet of paper where a brain should be. Post-Phase 1 to Pre-Phase 2: 2002-2004

In 1998, 2-D and Murdoc moved to Kong Studios and gathered Russell Hobbs to join them. 2-D's girlfriend, Paula Cracker, was originally the group's first guitarist, but was soon fired after Russell caught her giving Murdoc a blowjob in the studio bathroom. 2-D was upset by this and he and Paula broke up. During Gorillaz's hiatus, 2-D stayed in Los Angeles. He used to raise money for a ride called 'The Switchback Ride', and there he met Shane Lynch, a former member of Boyzone, and they became good friends. When they met, 2-D adopted the teddy bear style and used to walk around the city together with Shane. 2-D didn't really think about the Gorillaz until a few years later when he received a text message from Noodle and with that, decided to return to Kong with his confidence fully restored after realizing he was responsible for the Gorillaz. success.
