On the outside, Chūya is a rather arrogant and direct temperamental man. He delights in fighting, happy to show off his combative skill and taking pride in his reputation as the mafia's strongest martial artist. He is not above ridiculing his opponents in the middle of a fight. As befits an Executive, she has no qualms about eliminating the Port Mafia's enemies by any means necessary, including assassination, however, she is not as homicidal in her tactics as Ryunosuke and Black Lizard tend to be. As impetuous as he may seem, it is not impossible to reason with Chūya. In fact, it's quite reasonable when no one is pushing your buttons. While his skills and presence indicate an inherent threat, he is trustworthy enough that Mori assigns him the task of taking on the Detective Agency during the three-organization conflict involving the Guild.

Chūya is quite short with a small but muscular build. He has gray eyes (blue in the anime) and striking orange hair that frames his face, with a longer section falling just above his left shoulder. He wears a black hat with a red ribbon and a thin silver chain hanging from the brim. His outfit consists of a white buttoned shirt under a dark red vest, a black choker, a black ribbon bolo tie attached with a small silver buckle, a short open black jacket with the sleeves rolled at the elbows, black pants, a belt black hanging on her right hip and low arch black shoes. He is almost always seen wearing black gloves. Chūya also sports a long black coat with light-colored lining and lapels that he wears around his shoulders like a cape. The undercoat is a light shade of red, he is 1.60 cm tall, he is 22 years old.
