Appearance

Drenched Gossypium is a large, round cluster of white flowers, whose center appears to be red due to being drenched in blood. A bundle of roots hangs down from under the flower cluster, with some ending in claw-like appendages, while the roots are capable of movement as if to be the Abnormality's limbs. In battle, the Abnormality uses its roots to suck blood out of the Sinners, which is then pumped into its main body to further saturate it with blood.

Log 1

Oi! I’ve got a few things to say about this bastard before I get to the report. Where the hell are these… good for nothing… cottonhead… gossypium shite comin’ from? Well… not that I expect these Abnormalities to ever be helpful. But the things they give us from time to time… they’re supposed to be ‘gifts’ no? What kind of ‘gifts’ help our enemies keep their balance no matter what? They must be takin’ the piss out of us. Sorry, had to vent a little here. You understand, yeah? … Hm. Anyway. It just looks like a tree with a massive bundle of cotton on it. Appearance wise, it doesn't look any different from the last time we ran into it. Waving, luring us to approach... Same shite, different day, eh? And its center… is red. Like it’s sucking up blood instead of water. On its sides it’s got… wriggling stems? Roots? Whichever it is, it’s bloody creepy. Pretty obvious ploy, innit? I'm sure those vines are there to poke holes in us like straws and suck the blood out of our veins. Let’s tear’em to shreds before they can do anything like that.

Log 2

If you knew that the vines can’t be cut, then why didn’t you— Haah, nevermind. Don’t seem like we can stop these vines by cutting ‘em, Clockhead. Not sure if we can even cut them, in fact. Can’t help it. There’s no way to avoid getting punctured by these annoying things. Damn it, this chilling sensation of getting my blood sucked right out of my veins… it ain’t pleasant. Not to mention that this thing begins to turn red after it’s sucked enough blood out of us… … When it does turn red, expect it to use a powerful attack against us at any moment. We better finish it off before it tries anything. I suppose it’s easier said than done. Tsk, it’s not like we can pull these straws off us once they hit us. The only way is to beat it into submission like fluffing the cotton inside a pillow. What other option have we got?

Log 3

According to common sense, plants with deep roots and a good supply of water grow to be resilient. I remember that somebody once told me that common sense often doesn’t apply to Abnormalities… … yet here it is. An Abnormality that common sense does apply to. Blimey… I'm starting to figure it out, though. It’ll wallop whoever has the most of these straws in ‘em. I’ve had the pleasure of a first-hand experience with it, so I’m quite certain of that. Oh, and here’s something funny. This little shite gives ‘gifts’ that somehow help our enemies never get staggered… But beating the living daylights out of it seems to stagger it no fuss. What an absolute muppet. We have to kill it when we have the chance. If we miss that chance… I’ve no idea when we'll get a second one. The point is, don’t dally. I think it fancies me—I’ve no clue why. But it keeps jabbing me with its straw vines.

Trivia

Initially, choosing to 'Wave back' in the Mirror Dungeon event would award the White Gossypium E.G.O Gift after succeeding in a combat encounter. This was changed in the April 6th update, and no gifts were awarded after the fight. The event was reworked with the release of the Mirror of the Wuthering, adding back the White Gossypium E.G.O Gift as a reward for this choice. 'Ignore it completely' was added as a new choice to allow the gift to be avoided. The observation log makes reference to the Abnormality's E.G.O Gift in the Mirror Dungeon, with Heathcliff expressing a dislike for its effects. This may be in reference to the Gift's unpopularity among fans.

Prompt

A field of white, yet somehow dark flowers is ahead. The sky is red, the air windy and bleak. One giant flower flutters amidst the field. It resembles a person waving from afar. As you head for the giant flower, the smaller ones make way. They close up their petals as you pass, as if to bow down in respect. Once you arrived at the end, the giant flower drooped low to offer a present. You head for the giant flower. The small blooming ones scuttle and shuffle. They seem to be staring from all directions. You feel like you might get lost. Looking back up, the giant flower still waves to you. You couldn’t approach the flower no matter what you tried. All you could do was gaze at it from a distance. A sudden wave of nostalgia prompts you to wave. In an instant, all the flowers went awash with red, simultaneously turning to face you. After staring into us for a little while, their red petals flew at us. It was like a punishment for making a half-hearted gesture. You wave out of nostalgia. In an instant, all the flowers went awash with red, simultaneously turning to face you. After staring into us for a little while, their red petals flew at us. It was like a punishment for making a half-hearted gesture. You look away and continue on your path. The massive flower begins shaking violently, perhaps in an attempt to catch your attention. It appears a tad unnatural, a tad unsettling. You gather the gawking Sinners and escape the field of flowers.
