Igniz (イグニス Igunisu) is a character from The King of Fighters video game series, appearing as the final boss in KOF 2001 and one of the alternate bosses in KOF 2002 Unlimited Match. He is considered by many to be the strongest boss. Igniz is actually 56 years old, but his phenotype, immaturity, and the powers he stole from NESTS make him look younger. His appearance was designed at the request of the game's sponsors. He becomes the leader of the NESTS Cartel after having murdered his father, the original founder. He is played by Norio Wakamoto.

History

NESTS Saga: Originally NESTS was created by Igniz's father, Anidas, in order to conquer the world, however, over time, Igniz gradually gains power, and with NESTS' technology, he becomes even more powerful, which In the future it will allow Igniz to become the Leader of the organization. With these achievements, Igniz swears to become a God, so he decides to change the goal of NESTS, for this he makes some arrangements regarding NESTS's plans and tricks his father into focusing on KOF in order to test the world the greatness of the organization, with the intention of adding the world's strongest warriors to its ranks and secretly using them to increase its own power. Once this is done, Igniz arranges certain arrangements such as the preparation of Kyo Kusanagi's clones and, in the future, the creation of K'. After the events that led to his previous plans to fail, Igniz sponsors the 2001 tournament determined to test his newly acquired abilities against the finalists. His hopes of transforming into a deity were short-lived, as he faced K's team, managing to beat Maxima, Whip and Lin, in addition to giving K' serious problems. When he almost defeated him, 6 other warriors appeared to help K. ´ to fight against Igniz: Kyo Kusanagi (who was looking for revenge), Iori Yagami, Athena Asamiya, Terry Bogard, Ryo Sakazaki and Kula Diamond, after a teamwork of the 7 fighters, Igniz is defeated by K´ (who almost incinerated him alive). Igniz's death marks the end of the NESTS Saga, as well as the end of the Cartel.

Personality

Igniz is too expressionless, cold and inconsiderate, and for quite a few years he was very loyal to NESTS. As he gained more and more power, he began to believe himself to be a God and found that NESTS was too little for what he wanted and became a very evil and ambitious man. Despite these changes, Igniz's way of expressing himself is quite poised or preachy.
