Viktor is a large adult cat with orange fur and a green colored eye. He has cream colored accents on his eyebrows, mouth, hands, and tail. One of his eyes is missing, so he wears a black eyepatch over the empty socket. He has black stripes around his mouth, which causes him to slightly resemble a tiger. His usual outfit is a black turtleneck sweater with black suspenders, blue-green pants, and brown shoes.

biography

Viktor was born on April 16th, 1886 in Pressburg, Austria-Hungary (modern day Bratislava, Slovakia), he formally worked on a farm with his brothers and cousins and later moved to the United States, due to this he never finished his education. In 1917, During World War One he was sent to France and fought under the United States Army. It was believed that Viktor served with the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. And Saw Combat at Cantigny, Soissons, Saint-Mihiel, and the Meuse–Argonne. He later worked as a dockworker, in 1920 he got in a fight with strikebreakers during a striker's rally leading to the loss of his right eye due to a pry bar injury from police and being charged with multiple counts of assault, though Atlas helps Viktor get a lawyer and has his sentence reduced, after Viktor is let go from jail, he works for Atlas as a triggerman. After Atlas’s death in 1926, Mordecai and Viktor get into a fight about Viktor retiring, leading to Mordecai kneecapping Viktor, though Viktor stays with Lackadaisy due to him having “ no where else to go” he later works as a bartender. After the pig farmers attack Lackadaisy, Viktor gets shot in the chest by Emery with a double-barrel shotgun, though injured Viktor was still able to protect Ivy and kill Benjy with his bare hands, eventually he becomes weaker and has his bullet removed by Doctor Leo. After the incident, Viktor sits in bed and constantly coughs, he is seen drinking Laudanum.

Viktor is a very reserved, gruff, taciturn and churlish individual who nearly always overcomes obstacles in his path through either fists, passive-aggressive remarks or intimidation. His very stern nature is the reason Rocky - his self-proclaimed protégé - tends to refer to him as the "surly Slovak". One of the only people of the Lackadaisy crew who can somewhat control or even talk down to him without consequence is Ivy, whose stubbornness and assertiveness overwhelms even him.

He was fighting for the United States during World War I.[3] According to Tracy, Viktor did not complete his primary education. Regarding his favorite foods, Tracy notes that Viktor, "likes meat...but probably misses the sorts of lamb dishes, pork and sausage goulashes, potato dumplings and other such hearty, rural, soul-warming foods one does not so easily find in the urbanized corners of the States". Viktor enjoys drinking dark lagers or whiskey, but is not picky. Before moving to America he generally drank vodka, which would be difficult to find in the United States.[4] When asked whether Viktor has any hobbies, Tracy noted that Viktor, "has passed many of his off the clock hours playing Mr. Fix-it for his neighbors. He's a bit of a gearhead too. He likes tinkering with things that don't talk or otherwise make a lot of indecipherable noises at him, or get upset and leave when he smashes things.[4] Tracy incorporated some lynx and bobcat into Viktor's design.[5][6] In response to reader questions regarding Viktor's sexuality, Tracy has noted that he, "probably couldn't be any straighter".[5] With regards to how he speaks, Tracy noted that Viktor, "Flatly says exactly what he means in a low, brusque voice with a heavy Slovakian accent (which is fairly Slavic sounding. Czech is perhaps the closest comparison I could make.) Articles like 'a' and 'the' that don't exist in most Slavic languages are frequently left out of his speech. "W" sounds more like "V" and English verb conjugation is still a bit of a black art to him in some cases".[7] He is a former smoker.[8] According to Tracy, for Christmas Viktor would most like for someone to slide a steak under his door but otherwise leave him alone.[9] Viktor joined Lackadaisy in 1920-1921.[10] He stayed after Atlas' death due to "resignation". Viktor lost his right eye shortly after World War I. "Heartstrings" establishes that Mordecai kneecapped Viktor as part of an attempt to convince Viktor to retire, it didn't work

Mordecai has tuxedo colored fur and olive green eyes, he has short hair at the top of his head that droops down and wears rounded pince-nez. He commonly wears the Marigold uniform with a red tie but occasionally wears a long, black coat with a beige fedora or a white-collared shirt with suspender pants. Serafine forcibly carved a Voodoo protection glyph into Mordecai's chest when he refused to join the Maitre Carrefour cult.[3] Due to this in some comics he has a blood stain in that area. According to a QNA page about eyebrows, Mordecai’s were styled so he would always look mad.

Mordecai Heller was born on March 28, 1899 in New York City, New York to German-Jewish immigrants, he lived with his 3 siblings. Before starting his education Mordecai suffered from congenital myopia and was forced to wear spectacles, After his father Issac passed from a stroke, Mordecai became very protective of his family and they moved to the east side of Manhattan in terrible living conditions. At the age of 13 Mordecai begins working as an accountant and bookie for grifters, loan sharks and gambling operations, he finished his primary education and in need of money at the age of 17 extorts money from someone minor in the crime world and later murders them to replace their role and was able to embezzle money from higher-ranks though he is later caught. In fright Mordecai leaves New York on a getaway train to either Chicago or Detroit, he leaves all the money for his family and meets Atlas May and later leaves with him to St. Louis, Atlas helps Mordecai get out of his former troubles and Mordecai decides to join Lackadaisy as a sharpshooter, though after Atlas’s death in 1926, Mordecai leaves and kneecaps his coworker Viktor, he later gets hired by Asa Sweet in early 1927 to be a triggerman for Marigold.

Mordecai is the son of German Jewish immigrants.[7] While growing up Mordecai's parents ensured that English was the predominant spoken language, though Yiddish and some German were also frequently spoken.[8][9] Tracy has stated with regards to Mordecai's voice that, "He's from New York, but makes a concerted effort to disguise the accent and generally sticks with a combination of proper and deadpan. The only exception would be in the midst of one of his intermittent episodes of pure vexation - some of the New Yorker might show through if enough of his composure slips".[10] The last name of his alias is German for "butcher", which well corresponds with his profession of a trigger man. Regarding his appearance, Tracy notes that, "Mordecai wears a tie like a gash of red, all the more stark against his lack of color, wardrobe and otherwise".[11] In regards to Mordecai's reading habits, whatever he reads is, "undoubtedly thoughtful but dry - Bertrand Russell-like stuff. There probably aren't many romance novels on his shelf... or fiction of any sort for that matter".[11] Atlas found Mordecai while the latter was making a "hasty departure" from New York, and he joined Lackadaisy in 1920-1921.[8] Mordecai is a non-smoker.[12] He suffers from congenital myopia, and the glasses became necessary when he started school.[12] According to Tracy, Mordecai experiences sporadic double vision, and his unadjusted vision is somewhere between 20/60 and 20/80 on the Snellen chart.[13] Mordecai has a dislike of rats, pigeons, mice, roaches and other vermin...and asymmetry.[14] According to Tracy, Mordecai completed his primary education, and in terms of cognitive intelligence is the smartest character in the comic.

Mordecai started keeping books for grifters, loansharks, and other varied criminals in his pre-teens. Tracy has hinted that it's hopefully obvious that Mordecai isn't really enjoying working for Marigold. She also mentioned he's not really the most socially adroit individual, and when others don't immediately buy the cold murder-man persona he wears like a stiff business suit, he doesn't really know what to do about that.[3] Mordecai is a neat-freak due to how unneatness/unsanitary things makes him feel uneasy and remember his past in poverty.[17] Mordecai is based on many henchmen of mobs such as the Purple Gang and Dutch Shultz.[18] His drink of choice is Earl Grey tea, steeped for 4 minutes and not a moment longer.

When you were working at Lackadaisy, you and Viktor decided to date because you both were lonely and you both liked each other.
