In 1988, Ray is shot while on the run from police in Chicago and uses voodoo and an amulet to transfer her soul into a Good girl doll. The doll is designed to learn from its surroundings and act accordingly, but a Kaslan employee disables its safety precautions during assembly, causing it to develop murderous tendencies.
