Persona Attributes

Personality

Nothing quenches Peacock's boredom like a good cartoon, so he doesn't want anyone or anything to get in his way. Combative and impatient, Peacock is the most outspoken and infamous member of the anti-Skullgirl labs, as well as the most prominent. Peacock is also, for the most part, optimistic and cheerful, and she considers looming threats more than invitations to fight. Her tendency toward violence is a reflection of her tragic past and near-death experience, as well as the cartoons she treasures of her. Despite having a damaged psyche, Peacock does not attack people randomly or unprovoked. Although she is rude and impersonal to the members of ASG Lab 8 (and most people in general) on the surface, Peacock still considers them as family, and will have to go to certain lengths to protect them from harm (or in the case of her and in Big Band Story Mode, more damage). Dr. Avian was particularly close to Peacock; her death sent him on a rampage to search for her murderer. After her, Peacock is even closer to Marie Korbel, her one true friend. After her, and the Skullgirl, Peacock was tasked with destroying her. In the end, she talks to Marie, she personally sees to it that Marie's wish comes true, to put an end to the Medici Mafia.

Past.

She used to dress as a maid together with Marie in Rommelgrad (from the orphanage they lived, it was from a nobleman's house, they had to make do with the clothes that were available), before they were captured by slave traders. Patricia was too defiant to be a slave, so she was mutilated as an example to others. Patricia has been Peacock for about a year or so. She quickly adapted to her new pair of eyes and developed special awareness. Her skill alongside Avery made her one of the best bets against Skullgirl.

Origin

Peacock's dialogues and animations reference multiple eras of cartoons, but especially from the 70s and 80s.

Name.

Her real name is Patricia Watson, Peacock is the title of Dr. Avian's experiment. The word "Peacock" is the better known name for the "Peafowl", but it is actually the term for the male (In English). The name Patricia is derived from the Latin word "patricios" which means "noble." Watson is a patronymic surname meaning "son of Walter." It should be noted that Walter means "ruler of the army", which accurately describes the relationship with his gang, they usually call Peacock as "boss".

Design.

Their natural eye color used to be green before they were plucked out by slave traders. The Argus system is the only means of Peacock's eyes, the ones on his face are actually empty holes. The holes in his face are also a visual pun: Because his design is based on American cartoons, the black holes could easily be interpreted as if they were natural eyes; drawn in the style of 1930's cartoon characters. The joke is how other similar drawing styles can offer different perceptions of what something looks like. His cartoon revolver bears resemblance to Smith & Wesson's Model 29 revolver, a .44 Magnum, made famous by Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry. In Peacock's previous concepts, she was meant to be more of a "demented type" character; she originally had a scar and was going to be an asocial person due to her experience as a slave. At one point, she was considered a boss next to Marie. Her design was changed to be more "cartoon" and cheerful. These concepts from the previous design also include references to her abilities being partly magic with spells being sculpted into her bones.

History.

Once a war orphaned slave named Patricia Watson, Peacock's body was horribly mutilated by the slavers who captured her. She was rescued by Dr. Avian's Anti-Skullgirls lab, and rebuilt with an arsenal that actually defies biomechanical weaponry: the Argus System fixed her body, and Avery gave her access to unprecedented weaponry. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything to fix her mind: Peacock's damaged psyche and enduring cartoon love in the form of her new "toys" into a terrifying gang of cronies she said painted the town red.. . with blood. As terrifying as she is, she may be the Kingdom's best bet against Skullgirl.

History.

After defeating the Skullgirl, who turns out to be his best friend Marie, Peacock destroys the Skull Heart, although the Skull Heart claims his act to be "foolish" and that this is "not over". She and Marie have a friendly conversation and then Marie disappears from the world and swears revenge on the people who made her life so miserable. She went to visit and confront the true head of the Medici family and his own secret weapon (Black Dahlia) and the two dukes out.

Fighting skills and style.

With Peacock's physics-bending arsenal, nothing is sacred. She is a type of character who exploits any opportunity to the fullest and gets her way. There are no enemies of hers that last long against her sharp eyes and her sharpest weapons...blades. Her opponents last even less against her range of pots, baseballs, bowling balls, fuel-powered toy cars, and countless other dangers that fill the air. Peacock never plays fair, and is not afraid to call on her bullies to fight her. On rare occasions Peacock cannot defeat her opponent, she can simply stop the battle until time runs out. The Avery Unit has the power to "warp", which is a side effect of Peacock's madness. She cannot create things from nothing, but rather modify the range of her specialized arsenal from Laboratory 8. There are certain limits and her summons are only temporary. Her power continues to grow so she may be able to summon more things in the future. This is hinted at in Big Band's Story Mode, where he warns Peacock that she is "not ready" and they still have to teach her her "limitations the hard way", but understands her potential in the future by saying "we're going to need those." girls if you don't want to lose the last of the light."

Curiosities.

Peacock's (c.MK) "Ant Wasted" move does not kill any ants, but rather the beam of light from the magnifying glass teleports them back to a safe area. Additionally, all of the ants (if Peacock summons multiple via movement canceling repeatedly) are the same ants, summoned from alternate universes. Peacock is one of the eight original playable characters in Skullgirls, notable for having the most (and only) assistants. She is one of the first characters ever conceived. Peacock can age and grow. Some parts of it may need to be re-installed because of this. Peacock started smoking after becoming Peacock. They are imaginary cigars that are created just like others she has. Peacock will never stop believing in imaginary friends.
