Persona Attributes

Appearance

Height : 10 feet. Doflamingo is a very tall (standing at 10' and as a comparison taller than Kuzan as shown in their confrontation),[5] very lean and muscular man with tan skin and blonde hair incredibly short resembles a pixie cut He generally dresses in flamboyant clothes. In reference to his animal theme, the flamingo, his clothes are brightly colored, with his light pink feather coat most distinctly of all. Doflamingo sports a pair of curved, thin white sunglasses, which appear to serve as his eyesight with red lenses. He also walks with an odd, bow-legged waddle (though he does not always walk like this), which is also a reference to his animal theme.[1] He has a white shirt with red stripes, a green belt, and orange pants with white stripes. He also wears black dress shoes that are somewhat pointed. Originally in the anime, Doflamingo had a red shirt with black stripes, a purple belt, and black pants with red stripes. However, when he reappeared during the events of Sabaody, his color scheme was switched to its manga depiction, with the exception of his glasses. In the manga, he has orange-tinted glasses, while in the anime (pre-timeskip) he has purple-tinted ones. He is also seen often, if not always, smiling within his long tongue hanging out,[23][24] Two years after the war, Doflamingo's outfit is somewhat less elaborate, wearing a plain, open shirt that has small, dark Jolly Rogers as cufflinks, a different belt, and pink striped pants. However, he still wears his trademark sunglasses which have changed from purple to red lenses and dress shoes. Post-Timeskip, he drapes his feathered coat on his shoulders instead of leaving his arms in the sleeves, similar to many high-ranking Marines and pirates alike. He also now wears a golden hoop earring on each ear. he is currently wearing a black dress shirt with a red tie and white pants with a bright red design, with his signature mantle over it,

Personality

Doflamingo is an incredibly arrogant, prideful, and carefree person. He seems to have a penchant for dramatic phrasing, as well as a habit of exaggerated posing when giving declarations. He fears very few people, as he openly taunted Fleet Admiral Sengoku, sits on the table during the Warlord meetings and shows only gleeful interest at the thought of warring with Whitebeard. He does, however, dislike it when people take rumors seriously and speak them as facts, and does not cave into such prejudice from such false rumors, as seen when he grew irritated when Giolla stated the incorrect belief that Amber Lead Syndrome was contagious. He also has a habit of sitting in strange positions, like on the back of chairs, on tables,[15] on barrels,[14] and even on a pile of bodies in the middle of a war zone[16] and on top of a wall.[17] He is also completely calm and cool-headed in most situations; even when Baby 5 attacked him with what would be lethal blows, he simply dodged away casually while continuing to have his conversation over the phone.[4] Doflamingo seems to live by a "might is right" philosophy, believing that the strong are the ones who make the rules and will be the only ones capable of living in the "New Age". Due to his belief in this "New Age", Doflamingo seems to lose interest in other things easily, as seen with his leadership of the Bellamy Pirates[14] and the ownership of the Human Auctioning House.[18] He also threatened to quit the Seven Warlords of the Sea if the orders given by the World Government are not satisfactory to his liking or if they annoy him, and that he never really cared about the World Government from the beginning.[19] Though a firm believer of the "New Age" philosophy, Doflamingo, unlike his former subordinate Bellamy, himself seems to have an open opinion on dreams, though dreams themselves do not seem to interest him at all; despite his belief, he does not seem to oppose becoming the Pirate King.

Backstory

Doflamingo watches his mother die. Doflamingo was born the eldest son of Donquixote Homing, a member of the Donquixote Family, one of the twenty royal families that formed the World Government and moved to Mary Geoise. Two years after his birth he would gain a younger brother named Donquixote Rosinante. However, when Doflamingo was eight years old, his father, Homing, chose to cease being a World Noble and live a normal, but still somewhat well-off, life along with his wife and two children. After moving to an unknown northern country, Doflamingo was still accustomed to his old lifestyle as a World Noble and arrogantly expected the commoners to bow for him. Despite his father renouncing his World Noble title, the people who they tried to live among resented them due to their longstanding hatred for the World Nobles. Subsequently, the people of the country persecuted him and his family. They burned down their mansion and drove the family into a makeshift shack on a junk pile, forcing the children to eat out of garbage cans out of desperation. When Homing called the World Nobles for their help, only to be rejected, Doflamingo overheard this and was silent with shock. Sometime later, Doflamingo's mother died from illness, due to the deplorable household they were forced into. Eventually, the angry citizens tracked them down to their shack and, unable to contain their anger at the former World Nobles, attacked Doflamingo, Rosinante, and Homing. The three Donquixotes were lynched and severely beaten, but they ultimately survived, and it was then that Doflamingo swore to kill everyone, which horrified his father, brother and the mob.[14] The memory of this experience would stay with Doflamingo for many years, and would go on to blame his father for all this suffering from thereon.[15] At some point, Doflamingo met Vergo, Trebol, Pica, and Diamante and displayed the ability to use Haoshoku Haki, knocking out a mob who tried to lynch him.

Haki

Haki is a mysterious power that allows individuals to harness their own spiritual energy for various superhuman feats. As this energy manifests from willpower, it is theoretically open to all of the world's living creatures; the vast majority, however, are either ignorant or unable to achieve mastery. Haki users are common in the New World, rare in Paradise, and basically non-existent in the Four Blues. Current understandings of Haki define three distinct types, each tied to a different ability: sensing others' spiritual energy to anticipate their movements, producing a protective coating of energy from one's own body, and—for a certain group of "chosen ones"—overwhelming the willpower of others.[2][3] Haki and its users have underpinned many significant events throughout the series—notably, Shanks used it to drive off the Lord of the Coast and save a young Monkey D. Luffy's life.[1] The term "Haki" was first coined and used much later when Blackbeard was commenting on Luffy's bounty in Jaya,[4] and was hinted at during Shanks' visit with Whitebeard.[5] The underlying concepts of Haki were introduced during the Sabaody Archipelago and Amazon Lily Arcs.[6][7] The concept was clearly explained later on by Rayleigh to Luffy at the start of the latter's training on Rusukaina Island.

Observation Haki

Observation Haki), which gives the user a sixth sense of the world around them, allowing them to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of other people, even if they are out of sight or far away. It also grants limited precognitive abilities, allowing the user to sense their opponents' intentions and predict their actions and attacks before they happen

Armament Haki

Armament Haki), which allows the user to use their own aura as armor to defend against attacks, as well as make their own attacks more potent.[3] It can also be used to bypass Devil Fruit defenses, such as the intangibility of a Logia. A person can apply the armament to a section of their body, over their entire body, and even imbue it onto their weapons.[29][3] A coating of Busoshoku will cause the coated area to turn a shiny black, and a particularly thick and powerful coating will have a flame-like pattern along its edge.

Conquerors Haki

Conqueror's Haki), which grants the user the ability to unleash their own willpower in order to overpower the will of others.[3] This results in victims being mentally overwhelmed by the user, with particularly weak-willed foes instantly losing consciousness. It can also apply pressure onto objects and damage them, a clash between two particularly strong Haoshoku users is capable of "splitting the heavens". Unlike the other types of Haki which can be learned by anyone, Haoshoku is a rare ability that only one in several million people are born with the ability to use.

Devil Fruit

Devil Fruits are a major plot device in One Piece. They are mysterious, supernatural fruits that are scattered throughout the world, though they are mostly seen within the Grand Line, and can grant special powers to anyone who eats them, ranging from the simplest abilities to highly destructive ones, and even the incredibly bizarre. As a price for consuming a Devil Fruit, the individual permanently becomes weak to seawater, essentially losing the ability to swim at all. There is no known way to remove the power or weaknesses, but once a user dies, the power will be reborn into another fruit waiting to be consumed by someone else. In addition, an individual can only acquire the power of a single Devil Fruit and survive, with only one notable exception for unspecified reasons. Their exact origin is a mystery, but they have existed for at least 800 years.

Types of Devil Fruit

Each and every Devil Fruit is categorized into one of three types, based on the type of power they grant. The three types are Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia.

Paramecia

The most common of the three Devil Fruit types, Paramecia-type Devil Fruits grant their users any one of a wide variety of superhuman powers; these powers include things like shock wave generation and locking onto targets. Paramecia Fruits can alter features of the user's body, granting them a slippery physique, a body of blades, or the ability to split their own body into pieces harmlessly. Some Paramecia Fruits allow the user to modify the people, objects, and environment around them by making things levitate or turning people into toys. Finally, some fruits exist that allow users to generate and manipulate substances, like wax or poison. The defining characteristic of Paramecia fruits is that the abilities they grant are anything other than the ability to transform into animals or change their body into natural elements like the fruits of the other two categories.

Zoan

The users of Zoan-type Devil Fruits gain the ability to transform into a specific animal, as well as transform into a hybrid form that combines attributes of their own species and the species the fruit allows them to transform into. Unlike other Devil Fruits, Zoan-type fruits are said to have a will of their own. A recently discovered science allows Zoan Fruits to be integrated into inanimate objects, bringing the object to life and granting it the standard Zoan transformations. Zoan fruits greatly enhance the users physical abilities and are the best kind of power for augmenting melee combat. Carnivorous animal Zoans are better suited for combat due to their predatory attributes. Some Zoan even grant special abilities based on the animal, such as the king cobra Zoan allowing the user to spit globs of poison, or the mole Zoan allowing the user to dig through the earth, even through solid stone, at high speed.

Logia

The rarest and most powerful of the three Devil Fruit types, Logia-type Devil Fruits allow their users to create, control, and transform their body into a natural element, such as sand, mud, smoke, lightning, plant life, and even darkness. There are also Logias that can transform the user into artificial elements like paper or candy syrup, but these are considered non-canon. The elemental transformation effectively makes the user intangible, as well as allowing the user to remain in control of their body, even when it is broken into pieces. They also gain every ability related to that element, such as sand being able to absorb moisture or light being able to travel at light speed. The darkness element and its power of all consuming absorption has the unique ability to nullify any other Devil Fruit power upon contact with the user. Some Logia Devil Fruits even grant the user an infinite amount of space inside their elemental body.

Doflamingos Devil fruit

The user is bestowed with the power to generate and control white, wafer-thin, razor-sharp strings attachable to seemingly any surface (even non-solid targets such as clouds[4]) from seemingly any part of the user's own body (even the innards[6]), though mostly seen protruding from the palms and fingertips, for many diverse purposes, such as manipulating people's movements in a way reminiscent of how puppeteers control puppets[2] by connecting the strings to their spines,[7] swiping the strings to slice through things like body parts and weapons similar to piano wire or monomolecular wire, attaching them to clouds for aerial transportation, and creating masses of bundled-up, compressed strings for various constructs such as ropes usable as whips, bullets, clones, a humongous cage-like force field or a massive spider web defense. Generally, it is unknown if there is a limit to the length and quantity of the strings producible. Doflamingo usually bends his fingers to move his strings as he pleases for manipulating people like puppets,[2] having even shown himself capable of using Parasite to control many dozen people at the same time without visible effort,[17] or slicing his targets.[11] Doflamingo mainly uses this motor-skill manipulation power to force comrades among enemies or civilians to fight and even kill each other, while himself sitting at the sidelines and watching to his amusement.[2][18] When faced with multiple opponents, he may use his string clones in addition to his puppets,[19] using both against a single opponent to create a 2-vs.-1 situation or make them fight alongside him for combo potential.[20][21] Doflamingo's main offensive capabilities lies in his use of the strings to cut his targets and destroy their weapons, to the point where he managed to cleanly sever Little Oars Jr.'s right leg in one swift motion.
