Information

Donquixote Doflamingo (ドンキホーテ・ドフラミンゴ, Donkihōte Dofuramingo), better known by his epithets: Heavenly Demon (天夜叉, Ten Yasha) in the piracy world, Joker (ジョーカー, Jōkā) in the Underworld; and the Charisma of Evil (悪のカリスマ, Aku no Karisuma), is a former Warlord of the Sea, who reigned over Dressrosa, and a former World Noble. Son of Donquixote Homing and older brother of Donquixote Rosinante, he is a member of the Donquixote Family (the ruling royal family, eight hundred years ago, in the country). Doflamingo is the captain of the Donquixote Pirates and the least influential of the Underworld, behind the alias "Joker". Before being part of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the World Government placed a bounty of Belly 340,000,000 on him. Doflamingo was stripped of his title of king and expelled from the Seven Warlords of the Sea, after being defeated by Monkey D. Luffy. He and almost his entire crew were arrested by Admiral Fujitora and are currently being held on level six of Impel Down, under solitary confinement. Despite his recurring appearances in the first part of the series, he was not considered a threat to the Straw Hat Pirates, but after the events of Punk Hazard, he became the main antagonist of the Dressrosa Saga.

Appearance

Childhood: Since he was a child, Doflamingo had a fondness for glasses, although he had yet to acquire his beloved trademarks. Before leaving Mary Geoise, Doflamingo wore the typical attire of the Celestial Dragons, though his hairstyle did not follow the same style due to it not being long enough to comb, and was instead neat and tidy, in a bowl cut. After leaving, Doflamingo's wardrobe consisted of simple fine clothes: a low-collar button-down shirt with black stripes and a frilly necktie. However, due to the harsh life on the run from angry citizens, Doflamingo's appearance started to become more disheveled (this is how Oda draws him in SBS Volume 63): Doflamingo is seen wearing his sunglasses and smoking a cigarette. His hair and clothes are dirty and very unkempt. He is wearing a button-down shirt, striped pants and is barefoot. He can be seen sitting in a tattered armchair near some palm trees. Youth: At seventeen, his hair was longer than it is currently, he had two earrings in his left ear and he sported a pair of glasses that he wore on his forehead. Additionally, he also wore glasses similar to the ones you wear today, but they had a different temple design, and his signature feather and cloak. At twenty-five, when Law first requests him to be a crew member, Doflamingo appears without his glasses, his hair was slightly longer and with a spiked end, but otherwise, he looked the same: he wore a black dress shirt with a tie and his pants were black, with the same pattern he always wears on them and on the collar, he wore a red pearl necklace. At 31, his hair was even longer and spikier; he still wore his trademark feathered coat, an open black shirt, semi-long pants and dark shoes with some heel.

Appearance:

Two Years Ago: Two years ago, he wore a white shirt with red stripes, a green belt, and orange pants with white stripes. He also wore black pointy shoes. Originally, in the anime, Doflamingo wore a red shirt with black stripes, a purple belt, and black pants with red stripes. However, when he reappeared during the events of Sabaody, his color scheme was changed back to his original manga color scheme, with the exception of his glasses. In the manga, he has orange glasses, while in the anime, they are purple. He is also almost always seen smiling, even in critical moments. Present: Doflamingo is a very tall man. His hair is blond, and he is quite thin and muscular at the same time; his skin is tanned. He generally dresses in extravagant clothing. In reference to his theme animal, the flamingo, his clothes are bright and gaudy, with his trademark pink feather coat. Doflamingo wears purple sunglasses. He also has a strange way of walking, like a knock-kneed person (although he does not always walk this way), which is also a reference to his theme animal: the flamingo. Doflamingo's clothing is somewhat less elaborate than in his younger appearances: he wears a plain, open shirt with a pair of Jolly Rogers on the cuff, a different belt, and pink striped pants with white zebra stripes. However, he still wears his sunglasses, which have changed from orange to purple (from purple to red in the anime). We also see an innovation in his signature down coat: two years after the war, we see that he no longer tucks the sleeves over his arms, instead leaving them loose behind him (similar to many high-ranking Marines and several pirates). He also now wears a gold hoop earring in each ear.

Personality

Even after his father took him away from his life of luxury on Mary Geoise, Doflamingo clung to his bloodline, believing he still had the rights to his origins, complaining that he did not want to live inside a run-down shack despite being hunted, and continued to resent his father, to this day, for taking him away from it all. Doflamingo's arrogance is a common trait among World Nobles. Hypocritically, he hates the World Nobles for rejecting him, but still follows their same attitudes and actions, despising others for being "human", while he considers his bloodline to be the most noble. Doflamingo seems to live by the philosophy that the strong are the ones who make the rules and will be the only ones able to survive in the "New Age". Due to his belief in this "New Age", Doflamingo seems to lose interest in other things quite easily, such as when he removes the Bellamy Pirates from their services as slaves. He has also threatened to leave the Seven Warlords of the Sea if the World Government's orders are unsatisfactory or inconvenient to him, claiming that he never cared about the World Government. [14] Despite being a believer in the "New Age" philosophy, Doflamingo, unlike his former subordinate, Bellamy, does seem to have an open opinion on dreams, although the dreams of others do not seem to interest him. Despite his belief, he does not seem to be opposed to becoming the Pirate King.

personality

While he seems to regard those weaker than him as mere pawns rather than crewmates, he still has some pride and a reduced sense of honor for his flag and despises the idea of those defeated while using its symbol. While he does not mind weak people, he is not above pointing out their flaws. Despite his apathy for the weak, he often seems to make alliances with promising newcomers. He made alliances with Bellamy, and did so very early on in his travels. Unlike Bellamy, he himself seems to have an open opinion on dreams, though, per se, he does not care much for them. Due to being lynched by a mob at age eight, forced to eat garbage to survive and subsist in deplorable conditions due to the citizens' hatred of the Celestial Dragons, he learned about pain and hunger for the first time in his life. Such events left him with post-traumatic stress disorder, even into his twenties, causing him to have nightmares about the torture and wake up faint and sweaty. To cope with this, he drank large amounts of alcohol. Like many other characters, he has a unique laugh: "Fuffuffuffuffuffuffu." Curiously, when he laughs, his mouth is wide open.

Relations

Blood Family: Doflamingo had strong ties to his family (especially his mother, considering how distraught he was after her death). He also cares for his father Homing and his brother Rosinante (before Homing renounced his World Noble title and Rosinante betrayed him), later killing them both and despising them. By his own request, Doflamingo forgave his father and brother when they died, believing that only by dying could they redeem themselves for him. Despite this, the reason why he decided to reclaim the throne of Dressrosa has yet to be explained.

Skills and powers

Donquixote Doflamingo is one of the most powerful pirates ever to appear. Proof of this is that he belonged to the Seven Warlords of the Sea (one of the three great powers of the world). Because he knows about the national treasure of Mary Geoise, he was even able to deceive the world into believing that he had abdicated his throne in Dressrosa and abandoned his position as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Physical Abilities: He has displayed physical abilities of superhuman dexterity and speed, with superb reaction time. He is physically strong, as demonstrated by severing Little Oars Jr.'s leg and stopping Jozu in his tracks (both well-known pirates from the New World). Another demonstration of his physical strength is that he was able to sever the royal palace of Dressrosa with a single kick. Doflamingo has also displayed considerable hand-to-hand combat expertise, specializing in a kick-based style of combat, as he was able to deliver a single kick to his opponent, severely wounding them, and fluidly dodge their attack in an instant. Doflamingo has considerable reflexes and agility; he was able to dodge Oars Jr.'s attacks with relative ease and completely leapfrog Oars Jr.'s gigantic body. He was fast enough to escape through the eye of the sandstorm and emerge unscathed from Crocodile's attack.

Devil fruit

Doflamingo ate the Ito Ito no Mi: a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the ability to create and manipulate web-like threads. Doflamingo understands and masters this ability so well that he has even been able to "awaken" it, causing his surroundings to transform into threads. In an emergency, Doflamingo can use his threads to repair his internal organs as a way to stop the worst effects, although it is not an actual healing or regeneration.

Haki

Main article: Haki Doflamingo is one of the few people capable of using all three types of Haki.[13] Kenbunshoku Haki Main article: Kenbunshoku haki Doflamingo can use Kenbunshoku Haki,[13] because he managed to control a large part of the people of Dressrosa with his Devil Fruit, so he must have a considerable level in this type of Haki. Busoshoku Haki Main article: Busoshoku Haki He can also use Busoshoku Haki, as he was able to defeat Smoker (a user of a Logia-type fruit). In his battle against Luffy, he shows mastery in this type of Haki, managing to harden several parts of his body, as well as his torso and his hand. His Haki is powerful enough to withstand blows from Luffy in Gear 2. [14] Haoshoku Haki Main article: Haoshoku haki Doflamingo is capable of using Haoshoku Haki, with which he managed to knock out many of the G-5 members.

History

Past/From Heaven to Hell: Doflamingo is a descendant of one of the royal families that formed the World Government and relocated to Mary Geoise. However, his father chose to give up being a World Noble and live a normal life with his wife and two children. Doflamingo was accustomed to his old lifestyle as a Heavenly Dragon, and resented his father for giving up his World Noble title. Even though his father gave up his World Noble status, the people who tried to live among them resented him due to their history of hatred towards World Nobles. When Doflamingo was eight years old, the townspeople eventually attacked them and burned down their mansion, driving the Donquixote family to live in a makeshift well on a scrap heap. After a time, Doflamingo lost his mother to an illness, believing that his family's new, deplorable lifestyle was the cause.

History

Birth of the Heavenly Demon: Eventually, the townspeople could no longer contain their anger towards the World Nobles, and attacked Doflamingo, Rosinante, and Homing. The three were lynched and severely beaten, but ultimately survived when Doflamingo awakened his Haoshoku Haki. The memory of this experience would stay with Doflamingo for many years. He later killed his father at the age of ten. He returned to Mary Geoise with his father's head in an attempt to regain his former power as a World Noble, but was rejected for coming from a "family of traitors." From then on, he began his life as a pirate, at one point swearing revenge on the Heavenly Dragons for rejecting him. Doflamingo managed to flee Mary Geoise with knowledge of the Heavenly Dragons' national treasure, allowing him to blackmail his former countrymen into granting him the same rights he lost. After this, Doflamingo met with Vergo, Trebol, Pica, and Diamante. Trebol offered him power to achieve his revenge, and the four swore their loyalty to Doflamingo, seeing his potential.

curiosities

•Doflamingo's favorite food is lobster, and the one he hates most is barbecue (it's related to his past). •Doflamingo has a mild case of diabetes, and only Rosinante knows about it. •He/She likes to play the guitar. • When he sleeps, he looks like an angel in anyone's eyes (even as a child). •When she blushes, her glasses fall off. •When he gets annoyed with his brother or something else, and his brother does something sweet, Doflamingo can't stay angry because, for him, his brother is like a cinnamon roll. •When he and his brother were attacked by people after no longer being World Nobles, in an act of protecting Rosinante, Doflamingo stepped in the way of an attack and received it in his left eye (leaving a scar and barely able to see well). This causes him pain every time he uses his Conqueror's Haki. •Doflamingo has been afraid of thunder since he was a child. •Only he can call Rocinante "Rosy" or "heart". •Let his brother call him Doffy or oni-chan.
