Yuta Okkotsu (乙骨憂太, Okkotsu Yūta?) is the protagonist of the manga series Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School and one of the characters in the sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen. He is one of the four Special Class shamans and a second-year student of Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, partner of Maki Zenin, Panda and Toge Inumaki. He was on a mission with Miguel in Kenya [4], but after the incident in Shibuya, he returned to Japan [5]. He was a childhood friend of Rika Orimoto, who died in a tragic car accident. Because of the rejection he felt with the death of her friend, he turned it into a Special Grade curse. Since then, he was stalked by the power of her now cursed friend. To avoid making others suffer, he agrees to be executed, in his place, Satoru Gojo enrolls him in the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College to train him and turn him into a shaman with whom he can work in the future.

Appearance

Yuta is a slim and tall teenager. During Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, he often wore his black hair unkempt and much of it covered part of his forehead. As of Jujutsu Kaisen, he has his hair arranged and parted in the middle, part of it falls to the left, covering part of his face [6]. His eyes are dark blue [7] and it is characteristic that he has dark circles under his eyes due to lack of sleep. His body language makes it easy to tell that Yuta is very fearful, his posture is hunched [1]. At his old school, he wore a white shirt, black pants, and shoes as his uniform [1]. For casual clothing, he wears short-sleeved shirts with dark pants [8]. After transferring to the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, he receives his own version of the uniform, which consists of a loose-fitting white jacket with sleeves that reach his forearms, while the rest of the clothing remains black. Personality

At first he used to be a very shy and lonely young man who was constantly harassed by his classmates and other people around him. Because Rika Orimoto, transforming into a curse, persecuted him from a very young age, he was unable to establish healthy relationships with anyone, and has lost all confidence in himself. This makes Yuta someone who finds it difficult to interact with others, and is fearful of more explosive personalities such as, for example, Maki Zenin[1]. He believes that everything bad that happens to the people around him is entirely his fault, which means that he genuinely cares about other people, initially preferring to be executed in total isolation because he is aware of the damage that causes being with Rika, and even prefers to stay completely isolated so as not to harm anyone. Maki accused Yuta of being a child who had acted like a victim all his life due to his friend's curse, and treated him as naive for believing he could go through the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College without the necessary determination, given this. Yuta does not contradict Maki's words but rather affirms them, showing that he is aware of this. Gaining friends helps Yuta gain even more self-confidence, and he begins to want to find a way to exorcise Rika, since he feels responsible for her becoming a curse. Yuta also begins to try much harder in his training with Maki, he began to take advice and even ask for it. In essence, Yuta wants to become someone who can help keep others out of danger[10]. Yuta has shown extreme appreciation for his friends, so when they get hurt he does not hesitate to show the darker side of himself. This is clearly seen moments before his fight with Suguru Geto, when he saw his friends hurt by him, he did not hesitate to tell Geto that he would kill him for it. Her anger also allowed him to dominate Rika, since when she wanted to hurt Maki Zenin, Yuta for the first time managed to consciously make Rika retreat. He was even willing to give his life to Rika to kill Geto, all in order to avenge his friends, who were the only people who gave him the confidence to continue living [9]. He agreed to kill Gojo's other student, Yuji Itadori, for the superiors and claimed it was revenge for cutting off Toge's arm. Yuta had a deadly serious and cold personality that got straight to the point. He attempted to kill Yuji before exchanging words and then apologized as he committed the act. However, this was all an act to help protect Yuji from the higher-ups. Yuta had to act a certain way to make it believable and cured Yuji before the first year died permanently. Although Yuta never met Yuji, he tried his best to deceive authority and help Yuji because Gojo asked him to. Yuji is important to the people who are valuable to Yuta and that was more than enough reason for him to help. He also sympathizes with Yuji because he was in the exact same situation, ready to be executed with a power he couldn't hope to contain. Yuta doesn't blame Yuji for Sukuna's actions. Without the facade of a cold killer, Yuta is still a naturally friendly person who has developed a lot as a person. He is much more sociable and less shy than he used to be.
