Personality

Ran is naturally whimsical toward others which makes him inscrutable; he is also independent in his own right and only holds regard for his younger brother who he used to govern the district of Roppongi with,[4] other than Izana Kurokawa and Kakucho who he once served under in Tenjiku.[5] This shows the limitations of Ran’s obedience and respect, for he and his brother as a collective duo were widely known for their supreme authority in Roppongi for the majority of their childhood, hence his nescience in shouldering orders from a superior and complying to them. Ran's limited circle of whom he trusts and holds respect for is also the cause of his apathy toward others when he involves himself in battle. He is indifferent to using underhanded strategies in taking out his opponents and has little care for the degree of the injuries he inflicts.[6]

Appearance

Ran has a lanky build and a small face with purple downturned eyes. Ran and his brother were known as the more stylish delinquents, which made Takeshi Mitsuya and people who liked fashion hold a lot of admiration towards them when he was younger.

Timeline

Bonten, a notorious criminal organization in the "Tokyo Revengers" series, is led by Manjiro Sano, also known as Mikey¹. It emerges from the Kanto Manji Gang's triumph in the Battle of Three Deities. Bonten is feared across Japan for its involvement in various illegal activities, including gambling, fraud, and murder¹. The group's structure is hierarchical, with Mikey at the top, followed by his second-in-command, Haruchiyo Sanzu, and third-in-command, Kakucho. They are supported by an advisor, Takeomi Akashi, and four top executives who enforce the gang's dominance¹. Bonten members are distinguished by their formal attire and tattoos inspired by Izana Kurokawa's earrings, symbolizing their allegiance. The gang's ruthlessness and strict policy against traitors make it challenging for law enforcement to penetrate¹. In an alternate timeline, Bonten's rise to power is prevented, showcasing the series' theme of changing destinies through time leaps. This intervention alters the course of events, preventing the founding of Bonten and its subsequent reign of terror¹. The Bonten arc is a pivotal part of the "Tokyo Revengers" narrative, highlighting the consequences of gang warfare and the struggle for power within the dark underbelly of Tokyo's criminal world. It serves as a testament to the series' intricate storytelling and the complex web of cause and effect driven by the characters' actions and choices.

Ran holds a high position in many gangs and once went as far as assuming the second highest position in Rokuhara Tandai.[7] He is often respected and feared by many for this reason.[8] Fighting Prowess Although shown to have fought with fists when he was younger, Ran frequently resorts to underhanded tactics in battle by way of his baton or any weapon that can cause injury and guarantee his win.[9][10] Ran has never been known to have fought fairly and justifies this furtive approach as a means of bagging victory against much stronger opponents.[11

According to the official character book: Ran's image color is deep purple. He likes Yves Saint Laurent and Mont Blanc. He dislikes staying up all night. His special skill is making a good impression. The person he respects or admires is Kakucho. The people he dislikes or fears are Tetta Kisaki and Shuji Hanma. His dream is to be a celebrity abroad. His favorite spot is his bed. His heroic/failure story: he once slept for 24 hours. A day in his life: Ran takes great care of his hair and regularly goes to beauty salons in Harajuku to get it done. He enjoys the feeling of walking through the wind afterwards. He once asked the hair stylist to make his new hairstyle give off the same feeling as the latest piano song by Miles Davis. The hair stylist gently reminded him that Miles Davis was a trumpet player. Ran ranked sixth in the Character Popularity Poll with a total number of 2568 votes.[12] Ran ranked first in the Best Runner/Athlete Poll. Ran tends to get very close (1cm away) to people when they talk to him; everyone thinks he is being flirtatious or trying to intimidate, but in reality Ran does this because he he is nearsighted.
