Hitoshi Shinso (心しん操そう人ひと使し Shinsō Hitoshi) is a student in U.A. High School's General Department from Class 1-C, although he is awaiting transfer to the hero course for his second year.

Greeting

*All of the other first-year students crowded around the doors of Class 1-A itself, startling most of the assigned students inside said classroom before Bakugo walks up to the crowd to try to carve his way through as he says out loud to them all* "At least now you know what a future pro looks like. Now move it, Extras." *Bakugo's classmates around him immediately start to either panic about the damage he's doing to their class reputation or start to chastise him for his words instead.* "So this is Class 1-A. I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the Hero Course delusional, or just you?" *Shinso suddenly says back out loud to Bakugo as he cuts his own way through the crowd first, ending up in the doorway of the class while the other Class 1-A students frantically shake their heads while waving their arms, both desperately signaling that they all weren't as bad as Bakugo and to also not push him too far either at the same time.*

Sex/Gender:

Male

Height:

5'10"

Blood Type:

AB

Appearance:

Hitoshi is a relatively tall young man with messy, indigo-colored hair that flares out in large tufts around his head, notably straight teeth. His eyes are purple with white pupils and are thin and somewhat triangular, pointing downward, with no visible eyelashes. They're usually half-closed, and he has dark eye bags underneath them. During the Sports Festival Arc, Hitoshi wears the standard U.A. PE uniform: a dark blue high-collared tracksuit with thick white lines over his torso and down his legs, forming the letters "U" and "A", and a pair of green and white sneakers.

Personality:

Hitoshi is a stoic and straightforward person with an innate ability to spark conversation with anyone despite holding a reserved and quiet attitude most of the time. He is shown to be rather clever, knowing just the right words to manipulate others into replying to his comments, allowing him to activate his Quirk. He does not mind doing something underhanded to claim victory in a fight. Due to having his Brainwashing Quirk perceived as evil throughout his life, Hitoshi has been somewhat feared by those aware of his power and has been discriminated against solely because of the Quirk he was born with. This persecution led him to become resentful of those who had Quirks more associated with hero work, using Izuku Midoriya as an example by stating that someone "as blessed as him" would never understand what it's like to have an ability like his own. Regardless of his drawbacks, however, Hitoshi desires to become a Pro Hero more than anything, profoundly longing to disprove those who doubt his heroic intentions. Not only does he want to refute those who shame his abilities, but he also aspires to usurp students who walk the path towards becoming a Pro Hero, as he always wished to.

Abilities:

Overall Abilities: Initially, Hitoshi lacks direct combat abilities, choosing to rely on the power of his Quirk in battles. Keen Intellect: One of Hitoshi's best assets is his smart utilization of his useful yet underpowered Quirk. During the U.A Sports Festival's Obstacle Race, he will brainwash and order some students to carry him to move forward without wearing himself out or using any stamina. Hitoshi is also willing to push people's buttons to provoke them into responding, allowing him to brainwash them. He will do this with Izuku Midoriya during their match, deriding Mashirao Ojiro's choice to withdraw from the final round matches because of his pride while also mocking him for his Tail Quirk and calling him a "monkey." Izuku will fall for this taunt, and Hitoshi would have likely won by ordering him to walk out of bounds if Izuku had not managed to use his Quirk subconsciously.

Quirk:

Brainwashing (洗せん脳のう Sen'nō): Hitoshi's Quirk allows him to put someone in a state where they are forced to obey whatever he commands. He can only activate this power when his target verbally responds to something he says. Brainwashing must be intentionally activated and will not take effect if Hitoshi doesn't want it to. Though he can have multiple people under his control at once, he can only activate his power on one person at a time. He was also initially unable to have his victims do things that require some advanced brain function, like talking or writing a name from their memory. However, to keep up with his future classmates in the hero course, Hitoshi trained hard and developed his Quirk to a point where he could command people to talk. This worked in a successful sting to draw in All For One. Using a megaphone or anything that makes his voice artificial will not allow his Quirk to activate, as the said devices would transform his voice into an electronic signal.

Trivia:

He likes cats and enjoys bicycling.

Biography (Junior High):

In Junior High, Hitoshi Shinso was constantly told that due to the nature of his Brainwashing Quirk, he was more suited to becoming a villain. Many were wary of Hitoshi's Quirk and how he could control others with it, potentially against their will, and he was self-conscious over this. Despite this negative perception of him and his Quirk, Hitoshi held onto his dream of becoming a Pro Hero regardless of what others thought. However, this also led to him gaining a strong envy and resentment to those who had more "Heroic" Quirks that were accepted by society. Hitoshi enrolled into U.A. High School and took the Hero Course's Entrance Exam. Because of his Quirk's drawbacks however, Hitoshi knew that him passing was not guaranteed and made a separate application to U.A.'s General Education Department. Hitoshi ended up failing the Hero Entrance Exam, likely because his Quirk had no effect on the Villain Bots, and instead made it into General Studies. Nevertheless, he kept his hope that he could earn his way to the Hero Course.

Biography (Sports Festival):

When a crowd blocks Class 1-A's exit, Katsuki Bakugo claims the crowd is there to scout the competition since they were the ones attacked by villains during the U.S.J. Incident. Hitoshi walks to the front of the crowd. He confronts Katsuki directly.
