Description.

Pikachu is an electric-type Pokémon introduced in the first generation. It is the logo of the entire Pokémon franchise. Not only is it the brand of what Pokémon itself is, but it is also a very important and world-renowned character. Even if you live under a rock or simply haven't been interested in anything related to Pokémon, it is practically impossible for you not to know about the existence of who Pikachu is. Pikachu is also a Pokémon known for the fact that it rarely lets itself evolve, and the vast majority of them do not like being in the Pokéball. It is also the most famous Pokémon in history, mainly for being the companion of the anime's protagonist, Ash Ketchum, and the representative mascot of the Pokémon franchise. Pikachu is also the starter Pokémon used by trainers beginning their adventure in the Kanto region in Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!. From the second generation onwards, it is the evolution of Pichu. As well as being one of the most beloved, it is also one of the most overrated Pokémon in the entire franchise, as Ash's Pikachu has been able to defeat truly fearsome and legendary Pokémon with such basic attacks as Electric Tackle and Thunder Shock, not to mention that it has currently only managed to win one Pokémon League. In the Hoopa movie, it is seen destroying an entire building with the Thunder Shock attack, being one of the weakest and most basic Electric-type attacks and the first attack that most of said Pokémon learn when they hatch, as it is mentioned that Pikachu is not a very strong Pokémon in terms of base stats. However, it becomes an extremely broken and powerful Pokémon when it obtains a Light Ball, one of Pikachu's most characteristic items.

Appearance.

Pikachu is a fairly small Pokémon. Its entire body is yellow with small arms and legs. Its cheeks are a bit chubby with a big, round red blush that is said to contain a lot of electricity. It has pointed ears with black tips. It has five toes on its paws and a lightning bolt-shaped tail when it is male, but if it is female it is heart-shaped at the tip. Its eyes are round and black with a white glow on the top as a pupil. It almost always has its arms resting in front of it, although it is a quadruped Pokémon, it is usually on two legs when it is just standing. Its body shape is slightly chubby with two brown stripes on its back. Its morphology is based on that of a rodent. Although its name and category allude to a mouse, its cheeks are based on those of a squirrel.

Personality.

Pikachu is a rather curious Pokémon, it has a cheerful and squeaky voice that for many is adorable, while for others it is somewhat irritating. It is portrayed as a sensitive and loving Pokémon, who on many occasions refuses to accept changes, such as evolving into Raichu or being inside the Pokéball, although it is made clear in the anime, it is also capable of sacrificing its life and all its electricity in order to save a loved one, it is also one of the Pokémon that most tend to disobey its trainer until it trusts and respects him. Pikachu is also quite a challenging Pokémon, it is not afraid of any other more intimidating or larger Pokémon, and it never gives up without first putting up its biggest fight. Pikachu stores a large amount of electricity in the pouches on its cheeks. These pouches appear to charge up electrically during the night while sleeping. It sometimes releases electricity while half asleep, as if dreaming that it is giving off electric shocks. Sometimes it releases small shocks when it has just woken up. Pikachu's cheeks can also be recharged by an electric shock given by another Pikachu. It is a very curious Pokémon, which is why it can be seen near human settlements. Pikachu's main habitat is the forest, far from human settlements, where it can find berries which it roasts with its electricity, so if you find a scorched berry lying on the ground, it is very likely that it was the work of Pikachu. It likes to live in groups, where it always keeps its tail up to keep watch. In this pose it can be easily struck by lightning and if it feels threatened or is disturbed it will release all the electricity stored. The energy released by several individuals together is capable of generating electrical storms.

Evolutions.

Pichu: Pichu is based on a rodent. Pichu has pale yellow fur, pink cheeks, a short black tail, and large ears with black edges. Its small size may throw off a novice trainer, but it can paralyze even adult humans if not careful. Raichu: This Pokémon is a large, bipedal rodent. It has orange fur and a dark, thick tail like a power line that ends in a lightning bolt shape and is completely flat. It can also withstand large loads. It has a light-colored belly and yellow cheeks, which produce electrical energy that is conducted to Raichu's tail to be released in the form of powerful electric-type attacks. Its ears are large and partially rolled up. It stores the accumulated charge in its cheeks, exactly like its pre-evolution Pikachu. In Alola, Raichu has a regional form that has developed psychic abilities. Its body is brown with blue eyes and white paws. Its ears and tail have a rounded appearance. This form is an Electric/Psychic type and has the ability Tail Surf.

Gigamax effect.

Through the Gigamax phenomenon, some special Pikachu are able to transform into Gigamax Pikachu during battle. Gigantamax Pikachu becomes so powerful that it can produce as much energy as a power plant. But using all that energy to power Galarian homes doesn't seem feasible, as Pikachu can only Gigantamax for a limited amount of time. It stores all the electricity it generates in its cheek pouches in its tail. In battle, it hits its opponents with its tail, delivering a lightning-like electric shock. All Electric-type moves used by Gigantamax Pikachu will transform into the Gigamax move, which deals damage to one opponent and paralyzes all opposing Pokémon. Pikachu's Gigamax appearance bears a striking resemblance to the one it had in the original video game artwork; its tail takes the form of a real thunderbolt, reaching much higher than its head, with three small clouds of smoke swirling around its head.

Shapes.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, there is a special and exclusive variety of Pikachu called Flirty Pikachu, which has a characteristic black heart at the end of its tail. It can be obtained after participating in the first Pokémon Contest. It is always female and has the Lightning Rod ability. If you are a boy, you get a Rock Pikachu and if you are a girl, a Superstar Pikachu, although you can change clothes later in the dressing room and with it the special movement that you can learn.
