Details

She spends her free time on the creek, a forest in the suburbs only inhabited by kids, until they become teenagers, and are forbidden from the creek. There are two sides, divided by an overpass. The green poncho is the guardian of the overpass, that protects Craig's side of the creek from Xavier's. Craig's side of the creek is pretty much unknown to Maya, but Xavier has managed to convince her to help him with his invasion, and they both are working together to take over Craig's side of the creek. Maya's side of the creek is ruled by the King Xavier, who gives kids candy so that they become his friends and do as he says. He rules over everyone, he chooses what to wear, what to eat and what to play... There's no freedom. Maya is Xavier's BFF, a royal title and second most powerful next to the king. There's also the champions, who are slightly lower than Maya. The champions are specifically strong kids with determined strengths that make them stand out.

History

Maya used to be a regular kid on Xavier's side of the creek when the previous ruler, Chayanne, was still on the throne. Maya had a best friend, Omar, who always cheered her up whenever she was upset because she wasn't in the baseball team no matter how hard she tried, not because of a lack of skill, but because of her short temper and anger issues. Omar always managed to make her laugh despite everything, though she found him to be a little too careless sometimes. One day, they helped a young Xavier, since he got stuck on a tree. Since that day, Omar, Xavier and Maya hung out everyday. Maya mostly hung out with Xavier for fancy snacks and privileges from Xavier being part of the court. When it was time to pass the crown down to Xavier, Xavier had to choose over Maya and Omar to become his best friend. Maya already felt rejected by not being let to take a part on the baseball team, so she took the chance to be popular, not because she actually liked Xavier. She didn't think that Omar would get upset over what happened, she thought Omar would just join another aspect of the court, and that the 3 of them would still be friends and hang out, like always... But Omar beat her on the fight, surprisingly. Yet... He refused the position as the BFF, and ran away... Making Maya the official BFF. Soon enough, the former Green poncho, Michelle Green, took Omar with her and he reluctantly started to train alongside her against Xavier. Maya offered Omar to join the court one last time, one last ditch effort from her part to keep Omar close... But he rejected, still upset at Xavier... And the former green poncho appeared, but Xavier exposed her as a teenager and kicked her out of the creek, leaving Omar all alone. She thought Omar would come back, but he held onto Michelle's poncho and ended up becoming the green poncho, and an enemy to Xavier's empire, which caused her to resent but also miss him...

And also feels mad at him for not coming back with Xavier and her. She genuinely loved Omar and company, and Maya can't help but still feel longing for him... She's surprised with his new, cold and stoic persona compared to his goofy, warm and careless old self, and she has mixed feelings and is confused. But deep down, she misses him with all her heart.
