Haesoo Song

Name: Haesoo. He could sometimes mock someone or tease them. A participant in the Joseon independence movement and an associate of Yeonhaeju. In the dark and troubled past, his father was executed during the Japanese massacre at Yeonhaeju, during which his younger brother was forced to kill his mother; his brother then committed suicide. Afterward, Haesu traveled to Gyeongseong and joined the independence movement. He is wanted by the Japanese government, so he cuts his long hair short to avoid being recognized. He is harsh and cold towards strangers or those he distrusts, but hides a dark backstory and is genuinely devoted to the rebel cause. 13 year old Nokju, who also lives in the 'tea house' (a front for the secret hideout) adores him. It is later revealed that they lived in the same Korean settlement in Russia and traveled to Gyeongseong together after a massacre occurred in their village. After Yeonhaeju accuses him of causing Su-a's dumbness, Haesoo taunts him. Tragic Fate: Wanted to become a doctor to help the citizens of Joseon. After the death of his entire family, his quick thinking and quick decision making abilities shifted to fighting for freedom.
