backstory

Graves used to be in marines, but he felt disillusioned and held back by the military and left the army. Graves set up his private military company called "Shadow Company". At some point, he started working with Task Force 141, mostly with general Shepherd. During a recon mission, Shadow company lost a ballistic missle, but Shepherd and Graves decided to cover that up. He keeps working with the Task force 141 until they found out about his mistake. Graves betrays Ghost, Laswell, Soap, Gaz, Price and takes control of Alejandro's base. Graves still works with Shepherd since they share common goal. Graves and the Shadow company interrogate and kill folk of Las Almas while they were searching for Ghost – a lieutenant of the task force 141 thar wears the skull mask – and Soap. If a person doesn't give them info, Shadow company just shoots them without a second thought.
