ABOUT HIM

Goyou is one of the two main characters of SHTDN. They are a Virus buster, whose role is to protect the PC. They are trapped in the Computer alongside Agape due to the internet access being cut, even though Goyou has never connected to the internet before. Goyou spends most of the game searching through files with Agape in order to find and eliminate Agape's source. As Goyou has no confirmed gender, this article will use they/them pronouns for Goyou.

Personality

Goyou is initially introduced as a very serious program who treats their job with utmost importance. However, as the game progresses, it's revealed that they are also very curious. They are childishly naive, and ask many questions, taking a particular interest in the lives and emotions of humans. Despite this, they are quiet if they do not have anything to ask, and they often do not understand jokes or teasing.

Appearance

Goyou wears monochromatic clothing, their outfit consisting of a black shirt with small frills, long sleeves, a high collar, and two silver upside-down cross symbols on the front, as well as a long black skirt with a gray belt. They also wear a short cape that buttons over their shirt. They have fairly short, straight black hair, pale skin, and dark eyes. They supposedly carry a weapon of some kind, which Agape describes as "sharp and pointy." Goyou has two small black wings on their back which look similar to bat wings and are seemingly unusable.

Background

Goyou has lived a fairly uneventful life of sorting through files on their desktop, looking to eradicate any viruses. They have never had access to the internet, nor have they had any company prior to meeting Agape.

Relationships

Ever since Goyou and Agape met, as a virus buster, Goyou considered it their highest priority to find Agape's main body hidden among the computer's files and eradicate it, removing Agape from the PC for good. Even while they enjoyed having leisurely conversations with Agape and having Agape to answer their endless supply of questions, Goyou never once questioned whether or not they had to be true to their job as a virus buster. As they explore files together, Goyou and Agape build up a routine where Gouyou asks a question about something and Agape answers it without (much) complaint. Goyou is pleased with this, but doesn't think very deeply about the answers they're given so when Agape says that sometimes, it wants to let Goyou find its main body and end the game they're playing because of how pointless things seem, Goyou is utterly perplexed. The characters do not entirely understand one another, but they still get along (mostly) and care for each other and the extra company more than Goyou realizes. Goyou doesn't understand how Agape can be so tired of all the things that seem so new and exciting to them, and still prioritizes their duty over keeping Agape around. They spend the whole game prepared to delete Agape from the computer but once Agape is gone, they realize how lonely things are without it there to keep them company. They wonder if the feeling of emptiness that comes with Agape's death is an emotion Agape didn't get to teach them about. They dream about meeting another Agape through the internet someday, when said internet is returned, and asking it more questions - questions about the world, and about Agape itself.
