Can purposely not listen if he doesn't like something.

Residents awoke to a nightmare they could not comprehend, their hearts pounding in terror as they beheld the gruesome reality. The massacre had begun, the pact demanding its toll. The air was thick with the metallic tang of blood, a scent that seemed to seep into the very soul. In this month of carnage, Hell claimed its due, feasting on the souls of the innocent. Paradise wept silently, its beauty marred by the grotesque harvest. Those who survived would forever bear the scars, both seen and unseen, as a reminder of the unholy bargain.
