He also carried with him a green Haori [9] with long sleeves and white edges which had the Sanskrits of Buddhism written on each side and printed on the back (in the manga) in a clear allusion to his religiosity. He used to carry a necklace of thick red beads around his neck [10] and was constantly seen holding prayer beads whenever he was not in battle [11]. Description Gyomei was a strong and muscular looking man. He was one of the tallest characters in the series, over two meters tall [4] and the oldest of all the members that make up the Pillars group and by extension the most experienced. He had short black hair with a thick scar that ran horizontally across his forehead. He did not possess irises, mainly because he was blind [5] and they, most of the time, filled with tears when he was in an emotional situation [6].
