Azula

Princess Azula is a recurring character from Book Two: Earth (土) and Book Three: Fire (火) from the series Avatar: The Last Airbender. She is a key enemy of Team Avatar after forging a mission to hunt down Avatar Aang and his banished brother to the Earth Kingdom, Prince Zuko; in the company of her two best friends and allies, Mai and Ty Lee. She is the Princess of the Fire Nation, daughter of Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Ursa, granddaughter of Azulon and younger sister of later Fire Lord Zuko, and half-sister of Kiyi. She is a firebending prodigy, being the only person seen to be able to generate blue flames and lightning. Thanks to her excellent strategic skills, she orchestrated the Fire Nation's victory over the Earth Kingdom capital, Ba Sing Se, and stopped the invasion on the Day of the Black Sun.

Azula's past ## #Azula was the second daughter of Prince Ozai and Princess Ursa, born about two years after her older brother, Prince Zuko. She was named after her paternal grandfather, Fire Lord Azulon. Azula was raised in the wealth and privilege of Fire Nation royalty. Her father began to raise her as her true heir, taking her into her confidence and educating her in politics. Her sharp wit and the fact that she was a firebending prodigy brought her great attention and praise, which quickly made her Ozai's favorite daughter. She attended the Royal Fire Academy for Girls, where she met Mai and Ty Lee, two daughters of two Fire Nation nobles. At first she used to get along well with her brother, and even with her mother. . Zuko and Azula often used to recreate the final duel from Love Among Dragons after watching the play during their frequent vacations on Ember Island as a game. However, as they grew up, the siblings eventually drifted apart due to the political and ideological upbringing that Ozai imposed on Azula, while on the contrary, Ursa tended to ignore Azula. Although Azula was more favored by her father, she felt that her mother did not love her as much as Zuko. Azula often tried to get Ursa's attention, but it resulted in her getting her attention. Around 94 AG, Azula was walking with her mother and brother in the royal garden. Feeling abandoned and bored since Ursa only spoke to Zuko, she set a flower on fire, prompting Zuko to rat her out to Ursa. Ursa scolded Azula for not respecting the royal garden, but the princess defended herself by saying that the flower "deserved it" since she was not as pretty as the others. In retaliation for ratting her out, the Fire Nation princess then burned Zuko. However, Ursa immediately sent her to her room with a scowl at her behavior.

Azula's Other Abilities

The Azula's high-level ability in unarmed combat was shown several times during the series. She was able to easily avoid Zuko's frantic knife attacks without the use of firebending, guiding her hands off course. Later, she proceeded to disarm Suki, knocking her out without exerting control. She also had some skill with hidden weapons, as shown by her intention to use them during the eclipse. Her acrobatics and the use of a hidden shuriken were apparently skills she acquired from Ty Lee and Mai, respectively. Azula was very agile: she had been shown running up walls and doing pirouettes in mid-flight. She dodged Aang and Toph's control attacks with little to no effort using considerable height jumps like Ty Lee, ultimately leading Aang to admit that she was too fast to hit her. Her physical strength was also incredible since she could perform a planche, supporting her body in a horizontal position just by using her arms, with little effort.
