anime

On October 29, 2015, it was announced that My Hero Academia would be adapted into an anime series produced by studio Bones.[13][14] With the anime announced, Toho registered the domain "heroaca.com" as its website.[14] The adaptation is directed by Kenji Nagasaki, written by Yōsuke Kuroda, and designed by Yoshihiko Umakoshi.[15][16] The anime premiered on MBS and other Japan News Network networks, airing every Sunday at 5PM in Japan.[17] The opening theme is "The Day" performed by Porno Graffiti and the ending theme is "Heroes" performed by Brian the Sun. In March 2016, Funimation announced that it had licensed the international rights for streaming services and merchandise rights.[19][20] Universal Pictures UK distributed the first season in the United Kingdom and Ireland on behalf of Funimation,[21] with Sony Pictures UK distributing the second season,[22] and Madman Entertainment distributing subsequent seasons. The second season was announced in the thirtieth issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump. It premiered on April 1, 2017 on Nippon TV and Yomiuri TV,[24] and ended on September 30, 2017, with the staff and cast from the first season reprising their roles.[25] In this season, the opening theme is "Peace Sign" by Kenshi Yonezu and the ending theme is "Dakara, Hitori ja nai" by Little Glee Monster.[26] The second opening theme is "Sora ni Utaeba" by Amazarashi[27] and the ending theme is "Datte Atashi no Hīrō" by LiSA.[28] In the same year, it was announced that the series would be renewed for a third season.[29][30] Its first opening theme is "Odd Future" by Uverworld, while the ending theme is "Update" by Miwa. Its second opening theme is "Make My Story" by Lenny Code Fiction and the second ending theme is "Long Hope Philia" by Masaki Suda. The fourth season was announced in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2018.[32] This was later confirmed with the airing of the third season's final episode on

Development

Horikoshi stated that after his previous series Barrage was cancelled after only two volumes, he was sad and out of ideas. To get more ideas, he revisited a one-shot he previously published in Akamaru Jump, titled My Hero (僕のヒーロー, Boku no Hīrō). This would end up being the basis for the series, Horikoshi was also a big fan of American films and comics, such as the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man, Star Wars, and X-Men, which he used as inspiration. He cites Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto as the main influence on his art, specifically stating that it gave him a love for drawing hands. He even cited Dragon Ball, Ultraman, and Kamen Rider as sources of inspiration. Hitoshi Koike, the editor of My Hero Academia, explains that the author already had his general concept about the manga in mind and as it is written in various places such as the comic covers, there were many rejected story patterns that were changed and Horikoshi discarded the idea on his own. He also stated that the author longed to draw on his inspiration. He and Horikoshi had worked on concepts on their character designs while finishing the storyboards that draw the series scenes. He felt excited about the design despite not knowing the contents as in characters that he found fascinating; for example, the series antagonist Tomura Shigaraki. Kengo Monji, the second editor of the manga, said that the series storyboards for the first chapter that he took over as the new editor were still in progress, which had not been published in the magazine yet. He also stated that the series author had a hard time working on his chapters but the most important thing is to gain the best in the series work. He thinks that the good combination of elements made it interesting, which made an idea by mixing the style of Japan's shōnen manga with "heroes," a concept that everyone understands. He compliments Horikoshi's drawing, where the

The story takes place in a world where 80% of the population has developed "singularities", thus emerging heroes and villains. Among the 20% of people without gifts, there is Izuku Midoriya, whose greatest wish is to be able to study at UA (acronym for Yûei, a school of heroes) and become a hero like his idol All Might.[3] One day, after meeting All Might personally, he offers him to inherit his powers upon seeing his great determination despite being born without a gift. Izuku agrees and begins studying at UA, where he makes new friends, meets other professional heroes, learns to master his powers and faces real villains.

On November 2, 2000, a spin-off manga titled My Hero Academia Smash!! written by Hirofumi Neda began publication.[5] A girl-like anime adaptation of the original manga began airing on April 3, 2016.[6] Extra stories have been adapted into a light novel format by Anri Takahashi.[7] Two video games have also been developed by Bandai Namco Games and Takara Tomy.[8] In Japanese television network TV Asahi's poll to choose the 100 Best Manga of All Time, My Hero Academia ranked 16th.

Class 1-B

As noted by All Might, although their opposing class in the hero course, Class 1-A, has had the chance to hone their skills in actual combat due to getting mixed up in multiple villain attacks, data shows that Class 1-B has actually grown the most since the start of the school year as they have not gotten into any trouble and have thus been able to calmly dedicate themselves to bringing out their potential. This is also evidenced at an earlier stage as only one of Class 1-B's students failed the End-of-Course Exams as opposed to all five from Class 1-A, and during the Provisional Hero License Exam, all of Class 1-B's students passed while two of 1-A's failed. Class 1-B seems to be a bit behind in terms of head-on combat, strategic ability, and quick thinking. However, probably due to their experience with the aforementioned villain attacks, many more students from Class 1-A had the chance to advance to the final rounds of their first UA Sports Festival than those from 1-B, and also Class 1-A won the Team Training with a score of 3-1, counting only one tie. Most of the students of Class 1-B share a friendly rivalry with their parallel class, Class 1-A. However, certain students (mainly Neito Monoma) take their rivalry to extremes out of jealousy of Class 1-A's popularity and strength and thus wish to overthrow them. Interactions between the students of Class 1-A and Class 1-B have been few due to the rivalry between both classes. While Class 1-B treats Class 1-A as rivals (the latter appearing to not return the rivalry), the two hero classes are on neutral terms with each other. There are some in the class who seemingly hold no ill will towards Class 1-A and are even friendly towards them, such as Itsuka Kendo, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, and Nirengeki Shod.
