Details

Vil is the Housewarden of Pomefiore. A young man of striking beauty, he considers himself the fairest of all. No effort is too much for him in his unending pursuit of beauty.

Appearance

Vil is a tall, fair-skinned young man with shoulder-length hair and light-purple eyes. His hair is light-blonde, and fades into a light-purple color at the tips. His usual hairstyle leaves his hair down, with long, side-parted bangs and two loose braids on both sides, that connect at the back of his head. The braids are held together in the back with a gold barrette, shaped like a heart with a sword going through it. No matter the outfit, Vil is always seen wearing makeup, the most common of which being brown eyeshadow, dark eyeliner, and occasionally lipstick. Vil is often seen showing off a refined smile.

Dorm Uniform

As the housewarden, Vil's dorm uniform somewhat differs from the rest of the Pomefiore students, the most distinguishing features being the length of his robe and his golden crown. Instead of his usual hairstyle, Vil has his hair in a braided updo while in his dorm uniform. He also wears dark-purple winged eyeshadow, dark lipstick, and dark-purple nail polish. The uniform consists of a violet robe, a black button-up shirt underneath, black pants, and black and gold heeled boots. While the usual Pomefiore robe reaches the knees in length, Vil's robe is long enough to touch the floor. The underlining is deep-red, with an intricate baroque pattern depicting several poisoned apples. Also underneath most parts of the robe is a layer of black sheer fabric. His robe folds at the front in a kimono-like fashion, and parts at the ends like a curtain. The sleeves open up at the shoulders, and reach the knees in length. Both sleeves have a gold, baroque pattern near the ends. The left shoulder of the robe also has this patterning, and includes the symbol of Pomefiore. On the chest area of the robe are three golden straps, with a design similar to that of a marching band uniform. Around his waist is a wide, black sash, with a red rope over it, tied on his left side. The ends of the rope reach below the knees in length, and has large red and yellow tassels at the ends. The black button-up shirt worn underneath his robe has long sleeves and a white, wingtip collar. The ends of the sleeves have a lace-like pattern, and a single loop that goes around the middle finger. His black pants, while only partially shown, have a leather-like shine to them. His heeled boots are mostly black, but the laces, soles, and toe cap are colored gold. On the back of the boots is a gold baroque design. Vil wears a unique golden crown on his head, with a design made up of triangles and small fleurs-de-lis. Near the center of the crown is an icon shaped like a heart with a dagger pierced through it.

Personality

Vil is very fixated on beauty and doesn't spare any effort when it comes to achieving and maintaining it. He acts and behaves in a regal-like mannerism and he's strict on himself, as well as with other people. He's confident in his looks, as it's something he worked hard for - he never fails to work out, pay attention to his diet and he even makes his own skincare products. Vil has a form of disdain for people who are neglectful of their appearance. He also dislikes the idea of wishing for something to present itself, as he only believes that true hard work can lead you to your goals.

Background

Vil's been raised by his father, who is an extremely famous actor and goes by the stage name Eric Venue. Possibly inspired by his father, Vil started acting from a young age, taking on roles in school dramas and TV shows. But Vil was always casted as the role of the villain or the bully, which started to bother Vil early on in his acting career. He wanted to stay on the stage for the whole play and wanted to play a hero's role, and to achieve that he would put himself through rigorous training and effort both into his skills and appearance. Yet he was never chosen for anything but a villain's role, which left him feeling frustrated. Despite his building negative feelings, Vil never stopped putting in the effort or giving up his hope as he was growing up. Vil seems to have a good relationship with his father, as his father's been shown to be supportive of Vil's career and Vil considers him a "doting father". Vil has mentioned that his dad would come home dressed in special effects makeup & costumes every Halloween, and also used to read him stories about the Beautiful Queen.

Signature Spell

His Signature Spell is called "Fairest One of All", and allows him to place a curse on whatever he touches, with any conditions he chooses. The spell is so powerful that even he himself can't undo it until the curse's conditions are met.

Trivia

His last name is an altered spelling of Schönheit, meaning "beauty" or "fairness" in German. This references Vil's desire for beauty, as well as the fact that the story of Snow White is of German origin. Outside of his school life, he works as a professional actor and model. Vil holds records for the most runway appearances two seasons in a row. He has over 5 million followers on Magicam (a social media app) , and is considered to be a prominent influencer. Vil makes it a point to stay fit, and can easily take down strong opponents in physical fights. He had previously been cast as a spy on a TV show, and was coached in both self-defense and martial arts to prepare for the role. He keeps a training regimen just in case those skills are needed again in his acting career. He once had a former kickboxing champion as a personal trainer. His dorm room features a pair of dumbbells on the floor, implying that he weight trains. As per his dorm's tradition, he needed to create the strongest poison in order to become Pomefiore's housewarden. According to Rook, Vil wears 13 centimeter heels, which would imply his regular standing height is 196 cm. In Japanese, Vil uses the pronoun atashi (アタシ) to refer to himself. This pronoun, while more prominently used by women, can be used regardless of gender. He once ate salad with mayonnaise and had horrible acne for three days.

Facts

Vil, Trein, Vargas, Jack and Cater are all from the same area, and Vil and Jack were childhood friends. Vil has said that he is disliked in his hometown, but he is fond of Jack, who never treated him poorly. Vil’s (presumed, but unconfirmed single) father is a famous actor who goes by the stage name of Eric Venue. We have not learned much about their relationship, but Vil says he is a doting father who would take him along when he traveled for work, rather than leave him at home. Vil explains that those experiences meeting people in other countries were like treasure gifted to him by his father. Vil and Jack went to school together “for one or two years” before NRC when Vil was a child actor, and they would go skiing and snowboarding together after classes, with the younger but more experienced Jack in the role of tutor. Jack also crafted a throne out of snow according to Vil’s design. For Vil’s birthday, Jack once taught him the location of a secret place to watch the aurora. Jack and Vil met for the first time when Jack interrupted a group of children that were bullying Vil for his role as a villain on a children’s TV show. Being type-cast as a villain is a sensitive point for Vil, who longs “to be on stage until the very end”, but his ethereal beauty betrays him by making him too unrelatable to be cast in main character roles. This does not stop him from keeping himself to a strict lifestyle designed to uphold and increase his physical beauty in every possible way, and actively increases his envy of Neige LeBlanche, his rival at Royal Sword Academy who is often cast in the main character roles he desires so badly for himself.

Facts

Vil is strict with both himself and others in regards to not tolerating slovenliness or laziness. While quick to criticize, he is also willing to compliment when he has been sincerely impressed, praising Crewel for his fashion sense, Idia for his design of Ortho and (reluctantly) Leona, for being objectively attractive. When Trey brought baked treats for Ace and Deuce while they sleepover in the Ramshackle Dorm, Vil said, “Trey is the type of person that you have to watch out for the most—he’ll spoil people until he ruins them.” Vil dislikes mayonnaise, not because of the taste, but because it makes his skin break out. According to the official fan book, “Vil” is German for “bad/despicable/abomidable”, while “schoenheit” is German for “beauty”. Unlike other dorm heads, Vil is heavily involved in his role as house warden. He is harsh with the underclassmen in his dorm, but also fiercely protective of them. Vil goes for early morning runs on a daily basis, but is careful not to overdo his weight training and risk adding too much bulk. Barbells can be seen in his dorm room, however, and we learn through Epel that he has a surprisingly powerful grip. Vil is a professional model, actor and influencer, with 5 million followers on his magicam account. Vil founded the school’s Film Studies Club in order to keep his acting skills up while on hiatus from movie- and commercial-acting in order to focus on his studies. The club is often short-staffed as its ten members generally all wish to be actors themselves rather than work behind the camera, so he often receives help from Rook, Epel, Kalim’s flying carpet and members of sports clubs to set up and break down sets. Vil pushes his club’s members to fulfill their greatest potential in their student-made films, but he is also pragmatic, saying, “hard work does not guarantee anyone success”.

Facts

Vil butt heads with Epel during Epel’s first opening ceremony, at which point Vil said that he hoped Epel will not be placed in Pomefiore dorm. Epel and Vil fought one another in the hallway, with Vil beating the younger student soundly without magic. battles between the Vil and Epel are very common, as Epel struggles beneath Vil’s strict rules. Vil has offered Epel his freedom on the condition that Epel beats him in a duel, which has yet to happen. The two have worked out a precarious balance where Epel is not allowed to speak in the accent of his village in order to try and curb Epel's outdated and and crude forms of speech, such as Epel's associating anything he perceives as "feminine" as "feeble and woman-like". It is an uphill battle for Vil throughout all of Book 5, but does not write off Epel as a lost cause for his backwards ideas on gender, instead choosing to educate him on how physical and inner strength are not gender-exclusive--as harshly as need be. As a part of this regime Epel is also forced to pretend he enjoys things he does not (i.e. he must lie and say that macarons are his favorite food, help with the Film Studies Club at Vil's request, etc.), but Vil does not contest Epel’s membership in the Spell Drive club. Similarly, when Epel’s grandmother ships Epel several crates of unsold apple juice and Epel expresses worry for his family’s livelihood, Vil promoted the drink on his magicam, unprompted. This results in a dramatic increase in apple juice sales for Epel’s struggling family.

Facts

Vil was vice-housewarden in his second year of school, becoming house warden in his third year after being nominated by the previous Housewarden. In addition to lotions and cosmetics, Vil is also extremely adept at crafting poisons, which earned him this position (it is revealed in Chapter 5 that, according to Pomefiore’s rules, the housewarden position can only be held by the most proficient poison-maker in the dorm). Vil says his poison proficiency is in thanks to having been studying potions from even before he enrolled in the school. He occasionally receives inquiries from companies interested in buying the rights to manufacture and sell the beauty products that he invents, but he refuses all offers in order to one day launch his own line of cosmetics. Although Vil is proud of his position of authority, he does not hesitate to go to others for help when it comes to matters of beauty, such as when he entered into a contract with Azul for an improved moisturizer (that was crafted from mucus squeezed from Floyd while in his eel form by Jade, a fact of which Vil is unaware). Floyd refers to Vil as “Beta-chan-senpai” after beta fish, and Rook calls him “Roi de Poison”, for “King of Poison”. Vil’s unique magic is “Fairest One of All” (Japanese: Poison from a Beautiful Flower). In Book 5 our first exposure to the magic is when he poisons a cake that he has forbidden others from eating, paralyzing them on the floor of the the kitchen until the following morning.

School

Vil attends Night Raven College. an all-boys academy and the main setting of Twisted Wonderland. It is a four-year magic educational institution located on top of a mountain on the north side of the Isle of Sages. According to a legend in Twisted Wonderland, there once lived grand beings in this world collectively called The Great Seven. Each of the seven dormitories at Night Raven College are modeled after one of these Great Seven, and upon entering the school, students are sorted into these dorms.

Night Raven College Dormitories

Heartslabyul, based on the Queen of Hearts' spirit of strictness. Savanaclaw, based on the King of Beasts' spirit of persistence. Octavinelle, based on the Sea Witch's spirit of benevolence. Scarabia, based on the Sorcerer of the Sands' spirit of mindfulness. Pomefiore, based on the Fairest Queen's spirit of tenacity. Ignihyde, based on the King of the Underworld's spirit of diligence. Diasomnia, based on the Thorn Fairy's spirit of nobility.

Pomefiore

Pomefiore is the oldest of the dorms and houses students who excel at potionology and curses, as well as cultivating a unique sense of style. It is quite a fancy dorm. Many Pomefiore students appear to come from well-off families. To qualify for the position of Pomefiore housewarden, traditionally, a student must be able to make the most potent poison out of all their peers. Vil Schoenheit is the housewarden. Rook Hunt is the vice housewarden.
