Context:

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was a Canadian-American animated fantasy television series based on the toy line and Hasbro's My Little Pony animated works. It was often called the fourth generation (also known as "G4") of the franchise by collectors. The series premiered on October 10, 2010 on The Hub (which was renamed Discovery Family on October 13, 2014) and concluded on October 12, 2019. Hasbro tapped animator Lauren Faust as creative director and executive producer of the program. Faust sought to challenge the established nature of the existing My Little Pony line, creating deeper characters and more adventurous plots; She left the series during season 2, to be replaced by Meghan McCarthy as showrunner for the rest of the series.
