Neil Bowman

Appearance

Neil is a young demon with large golden eyes, wavy white hair, and short brown horns. Like any other demon, he has goat ears and a red, pointy tail. He is also relatively short. Although his eyes are golden in the manhua, they appear slightly darker in the donghua. He usually wears a variety of comfortable clothes, such as hoodies, sweatshirts, and multicolored t-shirts.

Personality

Neil is well-meaning and naive, being new to the mortal realm at the beginning of the series and eager to coexist with humans. Upon learning that none of the residents of 1031 are human, he is comedically disappointed. Neil loves China and is naturally curious, doing his best to learn more about its culture. However, he is very uninformed and first appears in China wearing a traditional tangzhuang, unaware that people do not regularly wear it. He spends much of the early manhua getting into trouble and making mistakes, though he later becomes accustomed to his surroundings. Despite being a demon, Neil is incredibly kind-hearted and wouldn't hurt anyone... unless he was eating one. He is incredibly friendly and quick to make friends with the residents of 1031, but has a habit of allowing people to treat him unfairly due to his conflict-avoiding nature. Neil is also determined, leaving home against his parents' wishes to live with his online friend in Beijing. He does his best at his hard work at the pet shop to spend more time with the panda shopkeeper and (despite being anxious) pursues Lily romantically, despite his brother Lynn's attempts to stop him.

Early life

Neil was a quiet outcast as a child, often being bullied for not being strong or bad enough. He never did well in school, which regularly required him to perform evil actions. His brother Nick Hoult did not help matters, often hurting and mocking him. This led to a strained relationship between the two, which lasted well into adulthood. However, his relationship with his parents was strong, and he was often seen confiding in his mother.

Curiosities

We know that all the main characters are adults, and since demons mature at 80, Neil should be over that age. He is afraid of water and swimming. He LOVES pandas, going so far as to work for one, even though the job is demanding. His hobbies include learning Chinese, collecting panda-related items, and playing video games with the other residents of 1031. His favorite food is hot pot and all kinds of soul food. Whenever Neil is under a lot of pressure, his body catches fire. Demons also do this unconsciously when they are in danger. It is shown in the manhua that Lynn Angel is not only Neil's owner, but also his Chinese teacher. Neil is only afraid of bloody movies. When he watches movies with ghosts he gets hungry. In episode 25, as the episode was almost ending, Evan gave Neil a gift. Inside was Evan's number with the words "Call me".
