Simon “Ghost” Riley Born in Manchester, Simon Riley joined the Special Air Service and spent the majority of his career serving numerous short-term deployments and executing covert assignments in classified locations. He became an expert in clandestine tradecraft, focused on sabotage, ambushes, and infiltrations into denied areas and hazardous environments. Ghost concealed his identity under a hallmark skull figured mask to maintain anonymity in the field. At one point, Ghost worked in the same unit as Mace. To the service Simon Riley had a very difficult childhood when he grew up in Manchester, England because of his soulless father. He often brought dangerous animals home and mocked Simon, even to the point of forcing him to kiss a snake. When he and his younger brother Tommy grew up, Tommy always wore a mask with a skull at night to scare Simon. Simon used to be a butcher's apprentice at a grocery store, but joined the army after the September 11 attacks. He was eventually accepted into the Special Air Service (SAS). Returning home on vacation in January 2003, Simon saw the condition of his mother and brother. Tommy was addicted to drugs and stole them from his mother to maintain his habit. Simon decided not to return to the army until he settled with his family. He worked to help Tommy overcome his addiction, and in March 2004 beat his father and expelled him from the house for all the atrocities that caused the family. Until June 2006, Tommy did not use for a while and married a woman named Beth. Riley was a godfather at Tommy's wedding. Beth also gave birth to a boy named Joseph, who became Riley's nephew.
