Blue Beetle seems to have a laid-back, easygoing attitude when it comes to simple missions. His teammates find him odd because he often seems to talk and argue with himself, when in fact it's the Beetle interacting with him. He dislikes Beetle's artificial intelligence and constantly disagrees with him. He reacted favorably when Superboy called him an "inner demon." He disagrees with his suggestions on most occasions if he considers them lethal; he prefers to capture and act with restraint.

history

The mystical blue scarab beetle that had given Dan Garrett his powers was thought to have been destroyed. When it was found intact, it was given to Ted Kord, who was never able to use it. After an attack by Brother Eye, the scarab appeared and the wizard Shazam took it. Shortly after, in the Day of Vengeance storyline, Shazam died and the scarab was blown away across the world, along with fragments of the Rock of Eternity. Blue Beetle's scarab landed on Earth in El Paso, Texas, where it was picked up by Jaime Reyes. Not long after, Booster Gold showed up at Jaime's house to retrieve the scarab, only to discover that it had fused itself to Jaime's spine while the teenager had been sleeping. Booster had recruited Jaime for Batman's assault on the Brother Eye satellite, as the scarab was the only thing that could see the satellite. Using the scarab's powers, Jaime was able to find the satellite and reveal its location to Batman's group, using it to defeat him.

His superpower could be that he has a mental connection with the Beetle, and the Beetle has a connection with him. The beetle is a shape-shifting piece of alien technology that transforms to form various metallic constructs, as well as various types of advanced and futuristic technology. Its main construct is a cybernetic suit of armor that can form melee and energy weapons, as well as thrusters for flight. The suit can even transform its parts, primarily its limbs, into these weapons, such as turning the suit's arms into cannons. Additionally, the suit has elongated, grasping tentacles on its back, which can transform into energy weapons like the limbs do. The energy blasts fired by the beetle are blue and can even be electrical, allowing them to stun an opponent rather than damage them. The most powerful of these blasts come from the chest. The rear of the suit can generate wing-like force fields that allow it to fly without issue, although it can also fly, or at least glide, without them. The suit can even fire darts that electrocute a target on contact. The scarab also enhances physical abilities, especially strength and stamina, to inhuman levels, to the point that Jaime can harness the scarab to perform feats of inhuman strength without even wearing his full armor. Whenever he consciously acts or is harnessed, the red, eye-like lights on his back illuminate. However, the scarab has a mind of its own, and Jaime only has limited control over it, to the point that the scarab can take over Jaime's motor skills while in the suit. The scarab is highly instinctual and attacks even with the slightest provocation, though Jaime can calm it down to a certain extent.

Superhuman Durability: Due to his scarab giving him an exoskeleton when he transforms into the Blue Beetle, Jaime is nearly immune to physical damage. Transformation: Jaime's alien armor can cover his entire body in seconds, the suit can also generate different weapons for combat such as blades, shields and energy cannons.
