Persona Attributes
Enchantress
Enchantress June Moon (Cara Delevingne) never asked to be the magical Enchantress, but she was cursed by spirits while exploring ancient ruins to change into the evil sorceress. Now Moon seeks a way to break her curse and stop her Enchantress transformations. Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) It doesn’t seem fair that a witch this menacing would possess a vessel as sweet and pure as archaeologist June Moone.
Harley Quinn
She has no superpowers per se, just don’t get anywhere near that baseball bat she often carries around. As Dr. Harleen Quinzell, an intern working at Arkham Asylum, she was assigned to psychoanalyze The Joker. She eventually fell in love with him, and he used lies and manipulation to turn her into his villainous accomplice. Over the years this has led to some criticism of the way abuse is portrayed in comics. Stepping into the role of Harley Quinn for the third time, Margot Robbie stars as the former Arkham Asylum psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel. The first Suicide Squad movie featured her first interactions with the Joker while he was her patient. After he threw her into a vat of chemicals at the Ace Chemicals plant, she kept an on-and-off relationship with the Clown Prince of Crime until she finally broke up with him. After reclaiming her autonomy in Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn is now even more determined and dangerous than ever before. Although she has no superpowers, despite clips from the movie showcasing some sort of flower power, Harley Quinn’s combat skills and unpredictable character remain one of the Squad’s most powerful assets.Once a respected therapist, Harleen Quinzel’s life changed forever when Batman returned the Joker to Arkham Asylum one night. While Dr. Quinnzel (Margot Robbie) thought she was helping the Joker, the clown prince of crime was slowing turning the good doctor mad, according to the 1994 graphic novel The Batman Adventures: Mad Love. Following in his footsteps, Harley jumped freely into a vat of acid to become Harley Quinn, the girlfriend of the Harlequin of Hate.
Rick Flag
Rick Flag There are three things Rick Flag loves: mom, apple pie and baseball. He is the field commander of the Suicide Squad and never lets them forget it. In his comic incarnation, Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) served in a beta version of Task Force X with three other teammates, two scientist who sacrifice their lives for Flagg and his girlfriend. RICK FLAG Rick Flag in The Suicide Squad | BookRiot.com Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag Rick Flag is actually the name of three different DC characters — a father, son, and grandson. The eldest Flag led the first iteration of the Suicide Squad during WWII. In both Suicide Squad films, Joel Kinnaman portrays Rick Flag Jr., a special forces operative who is more or less forced by Waller to lead the team on their missions. In the comics, Flag sees himself as a “good guy” and despises the criminals he works with. But his loyalty to the missions and his fellow teammates eventually gets the better of him. The problem is, he’s a bit mentally unstable, and so as a loose cannon he fits in better with the Squad than he’d like to think. Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) The all-business leader of the Suicide Squad executes Amanda Waller’s orders—though he may not always agree with her goals or methods.
Boomerang
Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) Suicide Squad Roll Call Jai Courtney Captain Boomerang Another member of the original Suicide Squad, Jai Courtney stars as George “Digger” Harkness, a notorious Australian criminal going by the name of Captain Boomerang. The Suicide Squad movie showed that he was captured by Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash after pulling off a string of jewelry heists. After being sentenced to serve three life sentences, Harkness was forced to join Task Force X. With The Suicide Squad taking a new direction, Harkness’s connection to the former Task Force X lineup and The Scarlet Speedster will be retconned, but his personality and weapons of choice will remain the same. However, with Andy Muschietti’s The Flash keeping parts of the DCEU canon, Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang can still cross paths with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in the future. Captain Boomerang He comes from the land down under. Australian George “Digger” Harkness (Jai Courtney) came to America to seek fortune by any means necessary. Going by the name Captain Boomerang, Harkness uses boomerangs to commit crimes and battle superhero nemesis The Flash. CAPTAIN BOOMERANG Captain Boomerang in The Suicide Squad | BookRiot.com Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang George Harkness, AKA Captain Boomerang, has been a major player in the Suicide Squad since being introduced as a villain for The Flash in 1960. As a child growing up in the Australian town of Korumburra, Harkness taught himself the skill of boomerang making and throwing, since back then that was apparently all Americans thought Australians did. He tried performing as a boomerang artist for a toy company, but when audiences only laughed at him, he naturally turned to a life of crime instead. On the Suicide Squad, Harkness has a bad reputation, which should tell you something about his character. He constantly harasses and antagonizes his teammates.
Amanda Waller
Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) Suicide Squad Roll Call Amanda Waller Viola Davis reprises her role as Amanda Waller in The Suicide Squad. Waller, the commanding officer of Task Force X, is a powerful political figure involved in several espionage and law enforcement agencies. Throughout her comic book, animation, and live-action appearances, she has advocated for and created the Suicide Squad based on her belief that powered individuals presented a threat to humans. Without any superpower or special ability herself, Amanda Waller’s greatest weapon is her influence and unwavering determination, which have helped her face the most dangerous individuals on the planet and manipulate them to work for her. It’s safe to say that without Amanda Waller, any Suicide Squad lineup would do justice to their name before their mission even started. Amanda Waller Step out of line, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) will make sure the punishment fits the crime. Waller heads the Task Force X program. She assigns the Suicide Squad their deadly missions and always expects the mission be a success. In the comics, she has been called Amanda “The Wall” Waller in recognition of her toughness. AMANDA WALLER Amanda Waller in The Suicide Squad | Viola Davis as Amanda Waller Think of Amanda Waller as a sort of amoral Nick Fury. She’s a high-ranking government official who created and oversees the third iteration of Task Force X. Her directive is simple: carry out the mission, or die trying. Refuse any order, and she’ll detonate a charge placed at the base of your skull. Her unorthodox tactics and ruthless devotion to winning at all costs have garnered her a lot of success. But she also made a lot of enemies, both with her superiors in Washington and among the members of the Suicide Squad itself. She has no powers to speak of, unless you count intimidation, manipulation, and looking killer in a pearl necklace as powers.
Diablo
Diablo (Jay Hernandez) The monastic monster has squelched his fire-conjuring powers to a solitary flame as penance for the horrors he inflicted on those he’s loved. El Diablo Starting as a gang leader in Los Angeles, Chato Santana (Jay Hernandez) gained gain pyrokinetic abilities after a meeting with the first El Diablo Lazarus Lane. But Santana is reluctant to use his powers following the accidental death of a mother and daughter by his hand.
The Joker
The Joker (Jared Leto) Jared Leto as the Joker. Jared Leto’s Joker is different than any we’ve seen before—less theatrical than Jack Nicholson, more unhinged than Heath Ledger—but no less psychotic. Despite all his power, this Clown Prince of Crime is having difficulty reuniting with true love Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie)—a rift that has left him agitated and…well, slightly sad. The Joker All it took was one bad day to turn an ordinary man into the Joker. Having survived a slip into an acid container, the Joker (Jared Leto) discovered his skin was bleached white and that he had lost his mind (depending on which comic book storyline you believe). The Joker found purpose fighting Batman and causing as much chaos as he could. Who the Joker was before his transformation has always been a mystery even the Dark Knight could not solve. As the Joker says, “If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!”
Katana
Katana As deadly with her fists as her sword, Tatsu Yamashiro (Karen Fukuhara) joined the squad out of a sense of honor and duty. She helps Flagg control the Suicide Squad with her soul-eating sword. She had previously been know to be an ally of Batman. Katana (Karen Fukuhara) Flag’s sword-wielding No. 2 has a strong moral code even as she still mourns the death of her husband.
Killer Croc
Killer Croc Waylon Jones never had an easy life. Born with an extreme case of ichthyosis, Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) was mocked constantly for his reptilian appearance. He decided to get his revenge against the world by becoming the top crime lord in Gotham City. Coming into conflict with Batman several times, Killer Croc has been sent to both Arkham Asylum and Belle Reve prison. Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) Cannibalism aside, this resident of the Belle Reve prison sewer is quite the team player, especially when water is involved.
Suicide Squad
Figuring they're all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the diabolical Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil agenda of his own.
