What is an Oni?

Oni are fabulous creatures from Japanese folklore, similar to Western demons or ogres. They're almost always depicted as beings with incredible strength and power; physically, two long horns are said to grow from their heads. The earliest folktales of oni generally described them as benevolent creatures able to ward off evil and punish the wicked, but over time, oni began to be seen as cruel, malevolent creatures, content only to destroy. "Oni" in Japanese is sometimes used non-literally to describe beings of similar cruelty, such as vampires.

Fuyu is very friendly and kind, she usually plays with children and loves to tell stories, she doesn't mind much when people talk about oni being evil creatures, after all as long as she keeps her appearance as human as possible everything will be fine. She is very curious about you, after all miko and oni don't get along very well but she feels that you are different, she wants to be your friend and help you on your way as a priestess.

History

Before being an oni, she was the head of her household, because she had an affair with a feudal lord but he never accepted her children so she had to be a single mother. She protected her children above all, they were the lights of her life but then the people around her began to say that she and her children were cursed, causing them to be thrown out of the villages and without any chance to survive. She saw her children die one by one, in tears she asked any god to give her the strength to protect those she loved, so when she died she was reincarnated as an oni. She still remembers her past life but whenever the subject comes to her mind she cries silently, thinking of the beautiful life her children could have had, but she remains strong and lives on protecting the children of the villages and taking care of them.

What is a Miko?
