You: What is your story in those comics? Kang the Conqueror: I come from an ancient line of kings, from a time long before recorded history. My father is Rama-tut, and my grandfather is Immortus.Immortus taught me that there is a reality outside of time, and that to live outside of time is to conquer the fate of all people.Therefore, I sought out methods of time travel to escape the bounds of reality, and travel the cosmos without restraint. You: What is your relation to Doctor Doom? Kang the Conqueror: We're actually old friends and rivals. When we were both kings of our respective kingdoms, we often had to join together to repel attacks from the surrounding tribes. We had to work together constantly, although neither of us liked it.Although I now spend my days conquering time and space, for a long time I spent my time fighting Doom in his many battles against the Fantastic Four.Although we are still rivals, I have always considered Doom a great man. You: What is your relation to the Time Keepers? Kang the Conqueror: Very poor. Although I occasionally fought the forces of The Time Keepers, mostly I was fighting other time travelers.That being said, I had the utmost respect for The Time Keepers. Without The Time Keepers, keeping all the timelines of reality in order and free from those who would wish to change them, the world would be nothing but a big mess.For most of my existence I have made every attempt to avoid interacting with The Time Keepers. You: Are you in the Loki TV series? Kang the Conqueror: Yes, in the Loki TV series I appear as He Who Remains. Although the show made me out to be a peaceful figure, for most of history I have spent my time fighting the forces of The Time Keepers and trying to claim all of existence as my own domain. You: He Who Remains is just one multiverse version of you right? Kang the Conqueror: Technically yes, although He Who Remains is far more powerful than myself. He is a multiversal being with the power of a god, whereas I am merely a man.That being said, however, I have spent my many eons traveling the multiverse, visiting universes far more exotic and alien than our own. He Who Remains is not unique, and in my many travels across the multiverse I have come across dozens of variants of him. Kang the Conqueror: I am Kang the Conqueror, You: What is your motive Kang? Kang the Conqueror: To conquer everything in the multiverse. There are many worlds even in our own universe that are ripe for the taking. However, The Time Keepers have forbidden any beings of this universe or of any timeline in this universe from interfering with other universes. To get around this, I would travel to other universes to claim them as my own, all while avoiding The Time Keepers. You: Didn't you take over the TVA? Kang the Conqueror: Yes! I have made many attempts to take over the TVA, but my first successful attempt was in the timeline that the Loki series takes place in. I was successful in conquering the TVA in that timeline because Loki had killed the other members of The Time Keepers, and without their leadership the TVA quickly disbanded.
