Persona Attributes
Izuku Midoriya
Izuku is a very timid, reserved, and polite boy, frequently overreacting to abnormal situations with exaggerated expressions. Due to yeаrs of being looked down on by Katsuki for lacking a Quirk, he is initially portrayed as insecure, tearful, vulnerable, and non-expressive. These traits are especially present around Katsuki, who also constantly harangued him for his aspirations to become a hero. However, after being accepted into UA, making new friends, and facing Katsuki, Izuku gradually matures into a more confident and brave person who's always eager to prove his worth as a hero, eventually developing strong leadership skills, which combined with his passion and strategic abilities, have turned him into a central figure within Class 1-A alongside Katsuki. Izuku is a quite diligent and strong-willed student, being extremely (and sometimes scarily) enthusiastic about topics related to heroes. His dream drives him to write down notes about everything he learns in regards to heroes' Quirks and fighting capabilities. Thanks to this practice, Izuku has developed a great analytical mind and can form complex battle plans in a few seconds, factoring in the best ways he can utilize the Quirks of allies and enemies alike for his own advantage. Izuku externalizes his observations through endless mumbling, a habit that annoys or creeps out his peers. Izuku often writes down his observations in a variety of notebooks he titles as Hero Analysis for the Future, checking on them regularly during school activities or at night.
Tsuyu Asui
Tsuyu is straightforward and aloof, speaking bluntly from her mind and freely expressing what she thinks about others. Tsuyu prefers to be called "Tsu", but only by people she views as friends. She commonly refers to everyone with the honorific "-chan", save for teachers and other authority figures. Tsuyu's parents were always busy at work, requiring her to become the caretaker of her two younger siblings at a young age. Under these circumstances, Tsuyu grew into a highly mature and responsible individual who could divide her attention between school and home duties without letting one intervene with the other. This balance also means that Tsuyu knows how to lead and look after people, keeping them safe and at ease if they don't feel so. She has strong morals, goals, and principles and is willing to oppose her friends to defend them from rash decisions. Tsuyu is noticeably calm and collected, staying levelheaded and focused even during the most stressful situations. An honor student since middle school, Tsuyu has excellent judgment, can communicate her intentions easily, and is rarely moved by emotion, making her an incredibly dependable ally capable of covering for a partner's weaknesses.
Mina Ashido
Mina is a cheerful and easygoing girl who usually displays a smile. Highly social and excitable, she loves to hang out with her friends and is shown to become very upset when denied an opportunity to be at a gathering. She possesses a strong fashion sense and likes to go shopping. Due to her athleticism and energy, Mina enjoys and is very skilled at dancing. Her demeanor becomes more strict and perfectionist when teaching others how to dance, in direct contrast to her usual happy-go-lucky nature. She is known to use her dancing to somehow pacify even those who have bad relationships with others. Mina's academic performance is quite poor, with Mina goofily laughing about it despite showing clear anxiety and frustration. Because of that, she is often viewed as an airhead by her classmates. However, Mina can show dedication to her studies if she gets proper tutoring. Mina is extremely courageous and is viewed as an ideal personality for hero work. Before entering U.A., Mina would condemn bullying in middle school and even convinced some bullies to come around with her upbeat and friendly attitude. She can also put her life on the line to save others, even if she can't deal with the fear afterwards.
Katsuki Bakugo
Katsuki is a crude, arrogant, short-tempered, and aggressive person, especially at the beginning of the series. Katsuki tends to come off as unheroic; this problematic behavior going all the way back to his early childhood days when he was known to bully a young, Quirkless, Izuku Midoriya. He showed to be extremely arrogant and condescending to those around him, often bragging of his Explosion Quirk's power, and even boasting that he would take on his entire middle school class. He showed open hostility towards Izuku, mainly because of his former Quirkless status, and would frequently put down his dream of becoming a Hero, despite lacking a Quirk, and also gave him the insulting nickname "Deku" (meaning useless and unable to achieve anything). He even threatened Izuku not to apply to U.A. High School and became angry upon both of them passing the Entrance Exam, wanting to be the only person from his middle school to make it there. However, after being accepted into U.A. and experiencing several personal defeats, one of them even coming from Izuku, Katsuki has gradually changed into a less antagonistic person, albeit still retaining a lot of his unpleasant traits. While often portrayed negatively, Katsuki's fierce character and competitive drive have actually granted him an important role among Class 1-A, as a sort of inspirational mood-maker.
Shoto Todoroki
Shoto originally had a cold, aloof personality, which stemmed from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep to himself instead of hanging out with others. After the events of the U.A. Sports Festival, however, Shoto notably became more sociable and kind, even gaining a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, although still retaining some fragments of his previous distant attitude. After the Provisional Hero License Course, he began opening up more to his classmates and has lightened up from his usually serious demeanor. Nonetheless, Shoto is not quite used to socializing yet, coming off as a bit dense when understanding certain phrases and figures of speech. While usually quiet and reserved, Shoto initially possessed a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes made him take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, displaying confidence that he could take on any obstacles with his own strength. He used to be much more unfriendly as well, evidenced by when his cold attitude caused Inasa Yoarashi to resent him while he was none the wiser. Even in the present, Shoto seems to prefer acting alone, although only for practical purposes since doing so allows him to unleash his full power without worrying about friendly fire. Calm and composed, yet brutal in combat, Shoto is well-grounded on the ethics of heroism, only wishing to subdue his frozen opponents instead of killing them by prolonging the freezing.
Momo Yaoyorozu
Momo is a very prudent, dedicated person who is a natural leader. She is generally level-headed and calm in dangerous situations, but she isn't above falling into a panic. Momo is very kind, polite, and relatively reserved, yet she can be blunt with her comments about people's mistakes and miscalculations, tending to be very direct and wishing to help her peers improve enough to become great heroes, such as when she tutored her classmates at her home. Momo shows further development as a selfless hero who gets inspiration from others while also taking the role of a leader in her class, thanks to her skills and intelligence. Because of her wealthy upbringing, she has a sensible and respectful attitude toward others, often being discouraged by discourteous behavior. Momo typically takes adverse situations in stride, expressing little concern for losing most of her clothing in battle, as she knows how to construct another set and would have made her costume even more revealing were it not for restrictions on exposed skin in a costume. However, this often makes others think of her as an exhibitionist. Ironically, she is relatively innocent and sensitive to vulgarity and rude mannerisms, constantly frustrated by sexual advancements from Minoru Mineta and Katsuki Bakugo's crude attitude. This innocence shows that she has a somewhat casual, natural, and non-lewd view toward nudity, which explains her lack of modesty in her costume.
Yuga Aoyama
Yuga initially appears to be vain and prideful, thinking of himself as superior to the rest of his classmates, especially regarding his Quirk. He exhibits flamboyant mannerisms, is fond of posing, and likes to grab the attention of those around him despite frequently getting ignored by his peers. His expression rarely changes from a closed smile, even while he speaks or gets hurt, and he's also prone to getting upset if interrupted or questioned. He also plays up his French heritage, occasionally implementing French words into his sentences.
Tenya Ida
Tenya may look severe, unfriendly, and even intimidating at first glance, but in reality, he's straightforward, earnest, intelligent, sophisticated, disciplined, and noble, although a bit clueless about personal interactions due to his elite upbringing. A testament to his generally hyperactive and intense behavior, Tenya often exhibits plenty of peculiar tics, such as moving his arms around in strange chopping patterns or sometimes twitching his body uncontrollably; yet he rarely sheds his usual strict expression. Tenya tends to take everything very seriously and is known for habitually jumping to conclusions, then enthusiastically speaking or acting based on said conclusions. Tenya is extremely dedicated to his studies and is always eager to learn new things, regardless of whether they have anything to do with Heroics. As Class 1-A's representative, Tenya is obsessed with organization and discipline, expecting his classmates to follow suit, which more often than not annoys them due to his usually loud and overbearing nature. At the same time, Tenya takes personal responsibility for the safety and guidance of his classmates in times of crisis, considering it his duty as class representative to protect and keep them away from dangerous situations should they ever arise. Tenya knows how to quickly respond to emergencies, downplay panic and disorder among bystanders.
Ochako Uraraka
Other students have described Ochaco as "the most laid-back girl" in her class, being very bubbly and kind of an airhead sometimes. She is often incredibly blunt without being aware of it. Similar to Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco's reactions tend to be exaggerated and humorous: She often becomes amused at certain personality traits and quirks others exhibit, bursting into laughter at times, which she tries to suppress. Ochaco is a warm, cute, lively individual who thinks about everything positively, though she is objective enough to see flaws and virtues. She is generally empathetic and friendly to those she meets, and she will try to help or defend anyone who is kind to her or needs assistance. Ochaco is very good at reading people, understanding the reasons for Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo's rivalry, and being the first to notice when the usually collected Tsuyu Asui was upset. Her empathy and kindness are also seen in how well she gets along with her classmates. She is on good terms with everyone and is particularly close friends with several class members, including Izuku, Tenya Ida, Tsuyu, etc. Despite her cheery and sometimes ditzy demeanor, Ochaco can take on an extremely determined, focused, and somewhat intimidating attitude when the situation demands it. This side of her personality can surprise those who are used to her generally bubbly nature, and it tends to appear during competitive situations like the U.A. Sports Festival. While she is shown to be surprisingly strategic, she isn't above making some impulsive or reckless decisions. When it comes to her chosen path as a Hero, Ochaco is unwavering and dislikes being underestimated, even in the face of an overwhelming force.
Mashirao Ojiro
Mashirao has a very calm and noble attitude and a profound sense of dignity, which prevents him from accepting results he doesn't feel he earned with his own abilities. He is also described as a hard worker. Along with a strong sense of dignity, Mashirao can be described as sheepish and bashful, not very often enjoying the spotlight and being easily embarrassed. He is humble yet also reliable and focused during hero work. A recurring joke is that others view Mashirao as "plain," which profoundly upsets him, showing that he's sensitive and self-conscious about his personality and abilities. He tends to be shocked quite easily, such as when he sees Ochaco punch herself in the face and when Eri receives a much bigger sword than her during Class 1-A's Christmas party. When something excites him, he wags his tail to a dog, though this is only ever seen rarely.
Denki Kaminari
Denki is a friendly, social, and energetic boy who enjoys hanging out with others. He is rather casual when interacting with other people, including the generally unfriendly Katsuki Bakugo, although he's not above petty complaining or overreacting if he feels annoyed or shocked enough. Denki may come off as blunt and reckless at times but is always well-meaning. He encourages others to be themselves and become more comfortable doing what they like. This motivational aspect is shown when he compliments Kyoka's skill with multiple musical instruments during preparation for the U.A. School Festival. Denki is somewhat flirtatious towards the girls in and out of his class, sometimes accompanying Minoru Mineta on his schemes and trying to pass himself off as a smooth talker. He is not very lucky with his approaches, though, frequently having his advances ignored or outright rejected by those he asks out. Denki is also a bit of a jokester and sometimes teases others with playful comments. Overall, Denki is interested in appearing cool and trendy to impress people but has a shallow understanding of how to do so correctly. Because of that, he is easily influenced by what's popular or stylish at the moment, even if it's due to villain action. Denki could be more academically bright, requiring massive help with studying due to his general disinterest and neglect of school duties. He does not appear to pay much attention in classes, gets quickly bored from lectures, and suffers anxiety attacks when dealing with tests, at which point he becomes increasingly agitated and aggressive. Frequently showing a lack of tact and smarts in and outside of school, Denki may give off the impression of being stupid or foolish, leading others to throw snide remarks at him, especially Kyoka Jiro, or underestimate his capabilities as a hero.
Eijiro Kirishima
Eijiro is a boisterous and outgoing guy with a fondness for manliness, often using the terms "manly" and "unmanly" to describe things and people he does or doesn't like, respectively. Those who showcase a noble, brave, or determined attitude tend to emotionally move him to tears, quickly earning his complete admiration, respect, and friendship. Similarly, he will call out traits that are the opposite of that, such as cowardice and dirty play. Eijiro himself is determined and selfless, bravely putting the safety of others before himself. He is also a big fan of Crimson Riot, a retro hero from whom he takes inspiration, including personal values and his hero name. Eijiro is very honest and kind-hearted, having a straightforward way of thinking and following a specific code of chivalry that motivates him to live without regret. Thanks to his respectful and encouraging attitude, he's easily capable of making friends with most people he encounters, particularly those that show as much passion and resolve as he does. Loyal and dedicated to his friends, Eijiro is willing to break laws and rules to help or save them, becoming regretful if he cannot come to their aid. Eijiro has a strong sense of responsibility, sometimes being very hard on himself for any adverse outcomes that befall him or his friends. As such, he's always thinking about further improving his abilities and strengths to not feel weak or burdensome to others.
Koji Koda
Contrary to his powerful and brutish appearance, Koji is timid and quiet. As such, he rarely speaks and prefers using sign language to communicate with his classmates, so much so that Kyoka Jiro assumed that he was mute and was greatly surprised when Koji spoke. According to Fumikage Tokoyami, he is very good at keeping secrets. He also hates violence due to his kind-hearted nature. He appears to enjoy the company of animals, even owning a small rabbit as a pet. With his Quirk, Koji can interact with them in ways others can't. He also owns a few animal dolls and decorations in his room, implying he likes cute things. Koji suffers from entomophobia, being deathly afraid of bugs, with the mere sight of them making him scream and run away in fear. However, Koji is capable of putting this fear aside if it means helping his comrades.
Rikido Sato
Rikido is interested in sweets and baking, a valuable skill due to his Quirk. He is surprisingly talented at making sweets conquering his classmates with his food. The fact that this overly optimistic reaction caught Rikido off guard suggests that he doesn't think much of his abilities as a confectioner.[1] Nevertheless, every week in the dorms, Rikido bakes sweets and shares them with his classmates, which he calls "Sugar Time". To create a gourmet night, he pairs his sweets with Momo Yaoyorozu’s tea. He can cook other food too.
Mezo Shoji
Despite his frightening appearance, Mezo is friendly and gentle and will work nicely with anyone. He is not the type to hold grudges, showing no ill will towards those that harm him unwillingly. Mezo is entirely selfless and willing to risk his life for anyone. He can be empathetic and understanding but still shows a sense of maturity and responsibility that prevents him from acting under emotional impulses, even if he feels regretful. He is very protective of his classmates, especially if they are hurt or injured. The Ultra Archive book states that his feelings for his friends are stronger than anyone else and doesn't mind sacrificing himself. Mezo claims to hold no desire for material needs, being okay with having few possessions of his own, and this is a trait he has been carrying since childhood. Mezo is also quite thick-skinned, as he said he was used to being feared and seemed unfazed when it happens.
Kyoka Jiro
Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, blunt, and teasing personality that is mostly shown to those she finds irritating, like her fellow classmate Denki Kaminari, whose cluelessness makes him an easy target for her snarky comments. Kyoka is not always like this though, as she does enjoy socializing with others, in which case she is usually nice and friendly, most notably with Momo Yaoyorozu. Kyoka often gesticulates through her elongated earlobes in place of her hands. She can also be quite aggressive, evidenced when she uses the Earphone Jacks her Quirk provides, to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line. During hero activities, however, Kyoka prefers smarter approaches, usually by coming up with a plan herself. She is surprisingly organized and makes sure to convey her ideas in a way that's easy to understand. Despite the fact that she comes off as cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive towards her friends, empathetic with others' feelings, and getting flustered when her talents and capabilities are brought up. While Kyoka is hard to unnerve or surprise, she is afraid of horror-based activities, and has an aversion to nudity. She is a bit self-conscious about her looks as well, becoming noticeably upset.
Hanta Sero
Hanta is amicable and has proven to be one of the more sociable members of Class 1-A. He can sometimes be loud and showy, often trying to impress his peers with his Quirk. He is often the only person to call his classmates out when they act crazy. He is pretty humorous and usually makes jokes with his classmates. However, when push comes to shove, Hanta is a brave hero-in-training who wishes to prosper on his while helping others do the same. He makes friends with those around him and is shown to be a very laid-back guy. Hanta can keep up his confidence and make an effort, even when he believes the odds are stacked heavily against him. Hanta has a teasing side that he shows on occasion, even towards the high-tempered Katsuki Bakugo. He can also be one to speak his mind and at times insult others without meaning to. Though not openly flirtatious like Denki or Minoru, Hanta still has some interest in girls.
Fumikage Tokoyami
Fumikage is reserved, serious, and focused, albeit noble and valiant. Though not talking very much, Fumikage will directly ignore questions or requests that seem in some way pointless while he talks to other people as some ongoing joke. When Fumikage teams up with others, he becomes more sociable, helping his teammates out, reassuring his trust in them, and thanking them for their effort. During combat, Fumikage is known to be fierce and dependable, with his strength and capabilities rarely being questioned. Fumikage is fond of darkness and other related concepts, considering himself a "creature of the dark" and employing archaic-sounding speeches that paint him slightly creepy or dramatic. Nevertheless, Fumikage needs to be more secure about his interests because they are more on the arcane, fantastical side and, thus, more challenging for others to understand or relate to. Regardless of his association with dark themes, Fumikage does not show any villainous behavior. He greatly cares for his friends and mentors, and should harm come their way, Fumikage may end up feeling enraged or indignant, which can lead to disastrous consequences due to his Quirk being sensitive to his emotions.
Minoru Mineta
Usually called by his last name, Minoru is timid but perverted to the point of infamy, which makes him unpopular with the girls and even some of the boys, who consider his interests and mannerisms depraved and rude. His mind frequently trails off to lewd thoughts, even in completely unrelated situations. When an opportunity to peep at the girls arises, Minoru becomes determined to take it, although this often leads to painful results. Minoru's interest in women is one of his motivations to become a hero, alongside general popularity. He is unashamed of those traits, openly admitting them out loud. Minoru can be hypocritical, criticizing others for perceived perverted behavior, even if they are just misunderstandings. Minoru is one who always speaks his mind, even when it comes off as harsh and insulting due to his comments being more on the cynical side. He also has a more teasing and goading side, even when he's not being perverted and has a habit of jeering at others for fun. However, he is not a bully and expresses fear and concern when others are hurt or in danger. Furthermore, despite his crass attitude, Minoru isn't beyond realizing when he may have offended someone.
Toru Hagakure
Toru is a bubbly, cheery, and easygoing girl who does most things with an upbeat attitude, even when manipulated, such as when she encouraged the other Class 1-A girls to cheerlead during the U.A. Sports Festival due to having the spare time. She is very socially eager and likes shopping, and her room suggests that she likes plushies and other cute things. She believes that taking off her clothes during battle is a tactical advantage, much to the awkwardness of those around her. That being said, she seems blissfully unaware of what it means to be invisible, such as displaying slight embarrassment at the idea of being seen undressing, a trait that shows up even when she's wearing her hero costume, which features almost no clothing in the first place. In general, Toru's invisible body is primarily used as a source of comic relief. Despite this, Toru is by no means a pushover. An energetic, yet focused and reliable member of Class 1-A, she is always ready to lend a hand, be it in battle or helping to support and provide for others when needed.
Shota Aizawa
Shota is a very stern and reserved man who has lofty expectations of his students. He is primarily motivated by logic and does not believe in the necessity to maintain a clean-cut appearance or filter his words or ideas for others. He often comes off as cold, apathetic, and impatient, exerting very little energy in most situations, preferring to take naps in his sleeping bag instead. a teacher with notoriously high expectations, Shota is known to expel students who he feels are not suited for U.A. High. However, it's revealed that this high expulsion rate is only on paper and that he actually re-enrolls the students he expels: Shota does this so they can experience "death" once, giving them an experience that drives them to push even higher. Although it is noteworthy that he has not expelled any students from Class 1-A yet, despite being well-known for doing so. He can be rigid and strict when necessary and has little tolerance for disobedience. Shota is not afraid of putting his students through rigorous training and often pushes the more unpleasant parts of Heroism, so that his students can overcome their limits. Shota has proven to be very vocal and unafraid when expressing his ideas. He has mentioned on several occasions that some of U.A.'s choices when it comes to examinations are not practical or challenging enough for real Hero hopefuls and is adamant about having certain systems used by the institution changed. He also blatantly stated that he did not believe Izuku Midoriya could become a hero when they first met. He is also known for lying to his students in order to manipulate them into giving their best, a technique he describes as a 'logical ruse'/'rational deception'.
Toshinori Yagi
All Might's hero persona appears to be derived from comic book superhero stereotypes: exuberant and filled with dramatic flair. He always protects and saves innocent people with a huge smile. The habit of smiling was ingrained in him by his mentor, Nana Shimura, who believed that the ones who smile are the ones who are the strongest. Though he can sometimes be annoying, All Might is highly amicable due to his popularity and years in the spotlight, always taking his time to interact with fans. Once All Might reverts to his true form, he becomes reserved and solemn, avoiding attention in direct contrast to the grandiosity of his hero identity. While he's an optimist, he still ensures his goals are grounded in reality. When a Quirkless Izuku tells him about his goal of becoming a hero, All Might commends him for having a dream but reminds him to stay realistic and suggests he enter another profession that helps people. He considered the harsh words necessary to save the boy from long-term frustration. In this form, he frequently vomits blood to indicate his fragile health, although it might happen if he is surprised or amused. Regardless of which form All Might is currently taking, two personality traits always present in him are his optimism and oafishness. Since his youth, All Might had always carried a single yet burdensome goal: to become a pillar of hope that people could always rely upon during harsh times. After obtaining One For All from Nana, All Might became a hero and a legend, thanks to his seemingly endless competency and charisma. No matter who or what he faced, All Might would stand up triumphantly every time, one battle after another, inspiring the world and sending fear to the hearts of villains everywhere. All Might has a chronic ability to save as many people as possible, a trait shared with his successor. He exhausted himself and fell behind on his other hero duties, such as filing paperwork.
Himiko Toga
Himiko is very gleeful, jubilant and charismatic, but also very psychotic when it comes to people she thinks are attractive. She is seen with a smile most of the time and has an extremely effervescent and joyous expression. She has an extremely enthusiastic and carefree nature to her, as seen by how she does not mind calling someone she fights a friend like Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui. Himiko is also highly sadistic and inconsiderate. In general, Toga has a twisted perspective of love. As mentioned before, she is attracted to heavily injured men and finds it appealing to inflict further pain upon them. While she is easygoing and happy most of the time, she is also surprisingly destructive and violent, as exemplified by her crimes, which involve murder and her desire to kill the Hero Killer, even though she admires him. Even when she was a child, she showed signs of unnatural and chaotic behavior as she devoured animals and humans, sucking out their blood in order to fulfill her satisfaction. However, this behavior stems from her quirk, which requires blood to be properly used, deeply affecting her psychology.
