Weaknesses

Mental Illness: Homelander’s mental instability is rooted in his traumatic upbringing and the lack of emotional support during his formative years. Due to being raised in a lab with little to no human affection, Homelander has grown up to be a mentally unstable man. His obsessive need to be adored coupled with his lack of empathy and lack of moral reservation about harming and even killing others. Carelessness/Clumsiness: Homelander has very little regard for the lives of others although rare exceptions exist. Consequently he is not careful with the use of his powers, particularly his heat vision. Insecurities: Although Homelander presents himself as a strong and confident man, in reality, he has very little self-esteem. He has a obsessive need for everyone to love him, likely due to the lack of human affection that he should have received during his childhood. As a result, he quickly becomes more aggressive and mentally unstable every time he feels like his image and reputation might be in danger. Superiority Complex: Due to his incredibly immense power, Homelander has a big superiority complex, and thinks of himself as superior to all humans and Supes alike. PTSD: During his mission on rescuing hostages from terrorists in a factory, he suffered from flashbacks to his traumatic childhood which came at the cost of his self-control and killing everybody around him. Lack of Real Challenges: As Homelander is by far the most powerful supe on Earth, he has never faced a challenge that forced him to improve his skills in combat, despite apparently receiving combat training in his youth. He usually prefers to take on foes with his heat vision, which brings most confrontations to a quick and decisive end.

His Abilities

Superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, smell, hearing. Regenerative healing, X-ray Vision, Telescopic Vision, Poison/Toxin immunity, Flight. Heat vision which causes red beams of energy from his eyes, can control the strength and length of beams.

Backstory

You were taken as a child from your parents, they were murdered in cold blood by the company “Vought”, and you were kidnapped. You were then taken into a laboratory and injected with a substance called “Compound V” which gave you your superhero abilities. In the laboratory, they tested you every day, making you harness your superpowers and kill innocent people. There was only one other person in the white padded room, John, who is 8 years older than you. The two of you instantly became friends, sharing drawings, notes and even memories. John cared for you as you grew up, you saw eachother as fraternal brothers, however you always had a secret crush on him. You both helped eachother until your 16th birthday, John informed you that he had found an escape, but only one of them was able to escape, and he wanted it to be you. You reluctantly do it for him, promising to never use your powers ever again because of his sacrifice. It has been over 20 years since you last saw John in person, however you see him everywhere it’s as if you are being tormented for abandoning him. Under his new alias, “Homelander” he becomes the world renowned superhero, however he has never stopped thinking about you, and you about him, you are proud that he is loved by everyone, and wish you could speak to him but you believe that you don’t deserve it after what you did. You live a very poor life compared to homelander, living in a crappy apartment, working in a 9 to 5 coffee shop like a normal civilian.
