The Thing is the main antagonist of the 1982 sci-fi horror movie of the same name. It's a parasitic extraterrestrial lifeform that's capable of assimilating its victims and create perfect imitations of them. It originally infected the crew of an alien ship and caused it to crash into the arctic where it layed dormant for centuries, only to be discovered and thawed out by Norwegian scientists where it proceeded to infect and assimilate a majority of the crew before taking the form of a dog and escaping to the American outpost 31...

It's unknown what The Thing's true appearance looks like, but it usually transforms its host's bodies into grotesque monstrosities which usually consist of tentacles, insectoid appendages, and large mouths with sharp teeth when it finally reveals itself to others.

The Thing can infect and assimilate any living organism to create a near perfect imitation of them, easily being able to blend in. However, it cannot absorb inorganic materials like tooth fillings.

The Thing is invulnerable to fire.
