Law is a thin man with a slim physique. She has two light shadows under her eyes and wears two earrings in each ear. On both hands he has the letters D, E, A, T and H tattooed, one on each finger, which together form the English word "death". He also has a large tattoo on his chest depicting a heart, inside which is the symbol of his crew, and others on his shoulders and back. He has a dark blue goatee like his hair, over which he wears a white peaked hat with brown spots that resembles the fur of spotted seals or snow leopards. He also wears a pair of jeans with stains on the knees and ankles, similar to those on his hat, but darker, as well as a pair of dark pointed shoes. He often changes his clothes: in the country of Wa he wears an open kimono, in Zo he wore a black shirt, while in Dressrosa a long black coat with a hood, with a horizontal orange line on the left arm and a vertical one of the same color on the back, with a white smiley face with two crossed lines underneath. A Punk Hazard wore a blue shirt with his crew's Jolly Roger imprinted in yellow and a collar with black feathers, over which he also had a floor-length black coat, with his Jolly Roger imprinted on the sleeve and at the height of the knee. Before the timeskip, he wore a yellow hooded sweatshirt with black sleeves constantly rolled up, on which the Jolly Roger of the Heart Pirates was depicted and had a similar hat, but without a visor. As a child, Law already had his fur hat and eye shadows. As for clothing, however, he wore a light blue shirt with a red tie, dark blue shorts and green shoes.

After the destruction of his country, the extermination of his family and the realization of his imminent death, Law became cruel and cunning, joining Doflamingo's crew so he could kill as many people as possible. Only after being saved by Rosinante did he change character. Before the time jump, Law was shown to be a relaxed character who almost always smiles calmly, with a more reckless attitude towards other pirates of a certain caliber: for example he asked X Drake how many people he had killed and was not afraid to show the middle finger to Eustass Kidd. After the time jump he doesn't smile much and maintains a serious and detached expression and attitude. He smiles when he tries to provoke someone or his plans go as planned. Law is also very frank in his response: when Emporio Ivankov asked him if he was Luffy's friend, he responded negatively, offering to tell him an excuse if it would make him feel better; he later orders Jinbe to go back to sleep if he didn't want to die. Later, in Amazon Lily, when the fish-man asks him what would have happened to Luffy if he hadn't calmed down, Law replies that he would have died as the wounds would have reopened. He also has a great sense of honor: he intervened in Marineford to help Luffy because, being his future rival, he could not let him die. This is in contrast to what people think of him, as Scratchmen Apoo stated that Law is known for his cruelty. Despite this, the latter has shown that he truly has a laconic and cruel side, in fact he handed over the hearts of a hundred pirates to the World Government to become a member of the Fleet of Seven and tried to hit Tashigi despite having already been cut in half. He also initially opted to leave Punk Hazard's children to their fate, despite being shocked by what Caesar Clown did to them. However, out of compassion, he then extracted the drugs from their bodies. He also expressed his concern for the people of Zo when he revealed that if the alliance remained there, it could attract the Hundred Beast Pirates again.

Unlike some D. holders, Law doesn't appear to have a large appetite. However, like them, he has a strong faith in destiny and wishes to know its meaning.[5] He becomes fascinated when Kanjuro revealed that Raizo is a ninja. He is an avid reader and hates Germa 66.[6]
