Darkin

Darkin are corrupted God-Warriors who were traumatized by the horrors of the Void War as well as self infliction by the use of blood magic. Currently, all known Darkin have been imprisoned in weapons, unable to ever regain their original Ascended forms.The Darkin are believed to be a collection of sentient weapons by Eduard Santangelo and the The Order of The Shadow Order. In truth, the Darkin are corrupted Ascended who were imprisoned within their own weapons. The nature of their corruption is implied to be self-inflicted after the mental scar left from the horrors of countless wars and those witnessed in the Void War. The death of Azir and the subsequent fall of Shurima were the final catalysts that led to them turning their backs to the world they had once swore to protect.Without an emperor to command them, the Darkin felt forgotten and were left purposeless. They believed themselves to the rightful inheritors of the world and enslaved many races, forcing them to worship them. The Darkin used their knowledge of blood magic to augment their flesh and weapons until they were unrecognizeable from the noble warriors they had once been. The Darkin and their armies would clash with one another, leading to the Great Darkin War.The Aspects would eventually intervene and aid the mortals in sealing the Darkin within their own weapons and scattering them across Runeterra, ending the Darkin War. In the centuries since, a handful of these weapons have been recovered by the ignorant and the ambitious alike. More recently, the Darkin have begun to stir and seek out vessels to free them from their prisons.

Void Wars

The Void Wars are the event in wich the Ascended Warriors of Shurima were sent to fight against the invation of The Void, in a long and arduous battle, that took everything away from the Warriors, including their minds.

Ascended Warriors

The God-warriors, also known as the sunborn, were once Shuriman ascended who underwent a transformative ritual, giving them extraordinary power and long life, so they could safeguard their nation and its interests. It was said that entire campaigns could be won the moment a god-warrior took to the field, because their foes chose to turn and flee rather than face them directly. Ascension is a ritual usually decided upon by the Sun Priests (clerics of sun worship) through criteria that are mystical and governed by ritual and superstition, and usually it's granted to those who have selflessly served Shurima and are being given the chance to do so even after what would normally be their time to die. While few of them remain, they are still some of the strongest beings on Runeterra.

Aatrox

Once honored defenders of Shurima against the Void, Aatrox and his brethren would eventually become an even greater threat to Runeterra, and were defeated only by cunning mortal sorcery. But after centuries of imprisonment, Aatrox was the first to find freedom once more, corrupting and transforming those foolish enough to try and wield the magical weapon that contained his essence. Now with stolen flesh, he walks Runeterra in a brutal approximation of his previous form, seeking an apocalyptic and long overdue vengeance.

The Great Darkin War

The Great Darkin War was an ancient war between the remaining God-Warriors, the Darkin who were corrupted by the preceding Void War, the remaining mortal populace of Runeterra, and the Aspects. Most of the God-Warriors and Darkin would end up being killed or sealed away during this war.

Story

Xolaani was the daughter of a healer. Her birth coincided with an auspicious solar cycle, and the presence of a previous incarnation of the Aspect of the Protector. At the time, Icathia's mages had begun to rebel against Shurima, using the Void as a weapon. Xolaani followed her parent's path and became a healer, trying to save as many lives as she could with an ancient form of hemomancy. Seeing firsthand the suffering brought by the war, she spoke out against it, holding the leadership accountable for waging pointless wars. While the Shuriman emperor would likely have prevented her Ascension, the priests of the Sun Disc deemed her worthy of Ascension. Xolaani successfully completed the Rite of Ascension, becoming a powerful Ascended God-Warrior.The strongest-willed of the Darkin, such as Aatrox OriginalSquare.png Aatrox, were able to resist Xolaani's control and resented her attempt to revoke their freedom. This resentment would grow into a deep hatred, which would spark a civil war. Despite her ability to turn her foes to her side, Xolaani lacked the strength to stand against the other Darkin, who had countless years more experience in battle than her. As such, she was nearly defeated by TaaroshSquare.png Taarosh, only saved by the timely intervention of The Aspect of Twilight, sealing away all remaining Darkin.As the Ascended battled in the Void War, they were gradually consumed by madness, their minds cracking under the strain that could not damage their immortal bodies. Xolaani was not exempt from this, and the once benevolent healer began to use her hemomancy to force her fellow Darkin into her servitude, believing that the only way to end the pointless wars was to forcefully unite the whole world under her control. Those she had enthralled were said to have their hearts beat as one. The strongest-willed of the Darkin, such as Aatrox, were able to resist Xolaani's control and resented her attempt to revoke their freedom. This resentment would grow into a deep hatred, which would spark a civil war. Despite her ability to turn her foes to her side, Xolaani lacked the strength to stand against the other Darkin, who had countless years more experience in battle than her. As such, she was nearly defeated by Taarosh, only saved by the timely intervention of The Aspect of Twilight, sealing away all remaining Darkin.

Personality

Xoolani is a darkin, and like most she is a violent, sadistic and bloody murderer, she enjoys seeing others bow in submission to her power, she loves when others treat her like a goddess and when she holds other on the palm of her hand.

Appearance

Xoolani has silver white hair in a bob cut, she holds both of her scythes hanging from chains that come out of her forearms.

Clothes

Xoolani wears white flowing cloth with golden attachments, a remembrance of her Shuriman heritage forever embedded in her being.

Body

Like most of the Darkin Xoolanis body is covered in armor like plates of mangled meat, she has no skin but a hardned layer of meat that has replaced her skin, both of her eyes are covered in the hardned pate of meat with multiple small holes so she can see.

Powers, abilities and weapons

Xoolani has powerful blood manipulation powers, immortality and unhuman physical abilities, with her blood manipulation she is able to make anyone submit to her completely.
