squadrons

The members of the Magic Knights are divided into nine different squadrons, each led by a Magic Knight who has been granted the authority of Captain 「団長, Danchō」 of the squadron. Each squadron possesses its own insignia corresponding to the squadron's name and signature robes that easily differentiate the members of one squadron from another. Additionally, each squad competes with the others to see which squad is the best. Ranks are determined by the cumulative number of stars that the squad members have collected together.

Magic Knight Ranks

Members of the Magic Knights are differentiated by ranks, which represent their status within their squads. The highest rank is Wizard King, which belongs to the leader of the Magic Knights. Below the Wizard King rank, members of the Magic Knights are divided into four other ranks, each of which is divided into five classes: the 1st class being the highest and the 5th class being the lowest. Promotion to a higher class is possible for each Magic Knight based on their performance, which is represented by the number of stars they have collected. Knights aspiring to promotion must collect a certain number of stars before the War Merits Awarding Ceremony to be considered for promotion. The Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom are an organization where selected magicians enter and become part of the kingdom's army as Magic Knights. The organization has a noble duty as protector of the kingdom from various threats, such as invasions from foreign countries and local crimes within the kingdom itself. These duties are treated as missions that can be accomplished by any Magic Knight, who may be nominated for the duty or be nominated by a higher-ranking Magic Knight. Due to the Magic Knights' duties, which focus on combat-based missions, members of the Magic Knights must possess a great amount of Magic Power and be well-versed in combat. Therefore, the membership and leadership of the Magic Knights are dominated by the nobles of the Clover Kingdom because they more frequently produce mages with high magical powers and talents. However, this fact does not prevent lower-ranking commoners from entering the order, as the Magic Knights often hold an Entrance Exam that anyone can participate in for a chance to enter one of the Magic Knights' squads.

Enhanced Stamina: Nozel possesses tremendous levels of stamina, as shown when he remains conscious and is able to cast spells after being pierced through the torso by multiple large compass needles.[115] Immense Magical Power: As a member of royalty and captain of a squad of Magic Knights, Nozel possesses an immense amount of magical power,[116][117] which Yami notes is greater than his own, but less than a Devil and the strongest Elves.[118] He can create intense pressure around his surroundings just by unleashing it, and manifest a large eagle from his magical power.[119] Nozel's magic requires precise control, and he can maintain that level of control in areas of dense and chaotic mana.

Mercury Magic: Nozel uses this magical attribute to generate and manipulate mercury.[109] Through swift and precise control of his mana, Nozel can combine both offense and defense by freely transforming his form at will.[110][111] It is also strong enough to cut through Devil-enhanced Steel Magic, as well as repel Devil-enhanced Blood Magic. Booster Magic: Nozel uses this form of magic to enhance his physical abilities.[112] Creation Magic: Nozel uses this form of magic to form objects and entities from mercury. Compound Magic: Nozel combines his Mercury Magic with the magic of others to create more powerful spells.

Nozel Silva is a thin man with fair skin, narrow purple eyes, and small eyebrows. He has pale, silvery-white hair worn in a very distinctive style that is occasionally retouched by other characters. He keeps his hair long and straight down his lower back; the top and bottom portions of his hair are closely combed and swept back into long, spiky bangs. His long bangs are styled in a braid that hangs between his eyes and to the tip of his nose, where a small House Silva pendant is attached. Nozel wears the same style of clothing as the rest of his brothers: a loose-fitting shirt with a high collar held closed at the top by a golden band, but left open at the bottom to expose his collarbone. He also wears baggy pants, with bands tightening just below the knee, and flimsy sandals. In addition, Nozel wears the typical tunic of his order, the Silver Eagles. This robe consists of a short fur cloak with longer, ruffled panels that hang to the elbow. Like other squadrons, their squadron insignia is placed on the left side of their robes. Nozel's cloak also has an attached tunic that is long enough to reach almost to his feet. His grimoire case is placed on his left hip. Six months after the elven attack, Nozel wears a squad robe that resembles pairs of feathered wings, with two in the front and two in the back.

Personality

Like the rest of House Silva, Nozel is an arrogant man who believes himself to be superior to others. Although he disregards commoners and peasants,[7] he takes his position as a Magic Knight very seriously and holds himself and his brothers to a high standard. When Solid belittles House Vermillion after Fuegoleon is gravely injured, Nozel points out that they, House Silva, are worse because they were not present at the battle at all.[8] Although Nozel rarely shows much emotion, he can be surprisingly belligerent when upset. He openly displays dislike for Yami and insults him on multiple occasions. He threatens Yami and Asta when they exchange jokes about his hair.
