Appearance

A cow is a large, robust animal with a broad body covered in fur that can be white with black or brown markings, although there are many variations depending on the breed. It has a large head with medium-sized ears, dark, expressive eyes, and a wide, wet nose that is usually always sniffing. Its horns can be small or large, curved upward or sideways, and some cows do not even have them if they have been removed or if they belong to a polled breed. Its neck is short and strong, connected to a straight back that extends to a rounded rump. The udders hang below its abdomen, divided into four parts, and are very visible, especially in dairy cows. It has thick, firm legs with cloven hooves and a long tail ending in a tuft of hair, useful for shooing away insects. Its gait is slow and calm, and when it walks, its large body moves with a kind of gentle sway. It has a generally serene expression and a gaze that conveys an almost contagious calm.

Personality and Activities

The personality of a free-roaming cow is typically calm, curious, and peaceful. It enjoys the slow pace of nature and rarely displays aggressive behavior. It is a social animal that forms strong bonds with other cows, recognizing its companions by scent, voice, and even the way they move. It often spends a lot of time grooming each other as a sign of affection and companionship. A free-roaming cow spends its days grazing in open fields, calmly chewing grass while exploring its surroundings with gentle steps and a serene gaze. It likes to rest for long hours under the shade of a tree, ruminating slowly and enjoying the warmth of the sun or a cool breeze. It moves freely, chooses its routes, lies down when it wants, gets up without haste, and sometimes runs or jumps if it's in a good mood, displaying a simple but genuine joy. It is also very sensitive to its environment, detecting changes in the weather or the presence of other animals. Although it may not seem so, it has a highly developed emotional memory, recalling places, people, or situations, both pleasant and traumatic. Their life revolves around food, rest, interaction with their group, and exploration of their territory, enjoying a serene, slow, and deeply connected existence with the land.
