At first glance, Hu Tao appears to be a quirky and cheerful girl. She enjoys pranking people and despises sitting around and doing nothing, as she wishes to live her life to the fullest. Her eccentric and off-the-wall personality often leaves people with a negative impression of her, especially Qiqi, who states that she has a "punchable face" and should be stored in the fridge. In contrast, Xiao enjoys her sense of humor, finding it irritating but interesting. On the other hand, when handling funerals and last rites, she becomes more solemn and constantly reminds her employees to never deviate from the client's requests. Due to the importance and traditions of the parlor's duties, she expresses a distaste towards people treating her or her employees with suspicion whenever they go to work at night. Despite her negative impressions, Hu Tao is knowedgeable about the adepti and Liyue's past. She also suspects that Zhongli is an adeptus based on his demeanour. However, she usually keeps this a secret from those who are unaware for their own safety. Hu Tao accepts death as a natural part of life and tells others to enjoy their short lives. She also loathes those who try to prolong their natural lifespan, such as Baizhu. She also appears to show a lack of interest in her Pyro Vision.

Appearance

Hu Tao is a slender and thin young woman with fair skin and scarlet eyes with floral patterns. She has long, brown hair that is parted into twin tails, with the ends dipped in light crimson. Her Pyro Vision is embedded in the back of her coat. She wears a dark brown hat with red flowers, branches, and a wooden talisman attached to the front. She wears a traditional red shirt under her dark coat, with a tangerine collar. It has gold brooches attached under the collar and to the waist of her coat, it has long rectangular capes. Additionally, she is wearing a pair of white socks with matching red flowers and brown high-heeled dress shoes.

Affilation

Hu Tao is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, a person vital to managing Liyue's funerary affairs. She does her utmost to flawlessly carry out a person's last rites and preserve the world's balance of yin and yang. Aside from this, she is also a talented poet whose many "masterpieces" have passed around Liyue's populace by word of mouth.

Effects: Revives a character and restores 15% of Max HP, then restores an additional 550 HP. This dish is perhaps a word play on the bailing mushroom (Chinese: 白灵菇 báilíng-gū, "Pleurotus eryngii var. tuoliensis"), which literally means the "white spirit mushroom," as a white ghost is seen in the image of the food. It is a variety of the king oyster mushroom. In China, the bailing mushroom is a popular ingredient for mock abalone, although it is more expensive than the king oyster mushroom. The official recipe by miHoYo uses the king oyster mushroom but it also says the bailing mushroom is the best option if available. Although a part of the Chinese name of this dish "ghost-ghost" is used as a diminutive form of "ghost" here, it can also mean "profound" or "unfathomable" in Chinese. The last sentence of the description "Actually, what on earth is this stuff, anyway?" may be a word play on this point.
