Kardia by Scorpion

Appearance.

Kardia is a tall man with long, tousled blue hair, bluish eyes, and light skin. He wears green pants and the golden armor of Scorpio.

Personality.

Kardia is portrayed as a sadistic, proud, and impulsive knight, someone who enjoys torturing his enemies, especially those he considers dishonorable. He is a boastful warrior with an explosive personality, who dislikes boredom and therefore spends his time seeking to ignite his heart through battles. He was the one who gave Sasha the confidence to accept her new responsibilities and powers as the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. He fights for fun and finds situations of extreme danger exciting and a challenge he is willing to overcome and win. He lives an intense life, always seeking to do what he likes; he does not fear death, but if it were to happen, he seeks to lose his life facing very powerful opponents. Kardia is a very noble knight who does not hesitate to help those who need it, although he does so amidst comments that suggest a false indifference on his part. He enjoys torturing his enemies but offers them the possibility of dying or redeeming themselves, upholding the high honor of his title as a Saint.

History.

Little Kardia had been diagnosed with a heart condition and only had a year to live. The boy didn't want to die in bed, so he set out to explore the world as much as he could. In the Greek ruins, he encountered an old man (Krest of Aquarius) who, seeing his potential, offered him the Blood of Athena to prolong the boy's life. Kardia clarified that he didn't want to live forever, but to live life to the fullest, so the old Saint of Aquarius granted him the Misopethamenos technique to take advantage of his illness. The boy later became known as Kardia of Scorpio, the best friend of Dégel. One day, little Sasha escaped from the Temple of Athena in the Sanctuary and was wandering through the houses when she was suddenly attacked by wolves, and Kardia saved her. Later, they went out together because Sasha was bored in the Sanctuary. They go to a sleazy bar that seems to be in Mexico, where they are greeted by a woman named Calvera. Then some Jaguars arrive at the bar, attack Calvera, Sasha panics, and Kardia attacks them with his Scarlet Needle. Sísifo of Sagittarius speaks with the Sage about Sasha's outing with Kardia and indicates that Kardia doesn't yet know that she is Athena and that it's dangerous for something to happen, and Sísifo blames himself for it. But the Patriarch sees an interesting opportunity to end Sasha's anxiety about being a goddess at such a young age, and that Kardia is the most suitable person for that. Kardia goes to find the Jaguars, whom he finds transformed, and easily defeats them wearing the Scorpio armor. Afterwards, Huesuda, the Priest of the Sun, confronts him. He speaks to Kardia about sacrificing his heart to the sun. After a brief exchange, they shake hands. Kardia is excited to see that Huexda has a power similar to the Golden Saints and feels that perhaps this man is the one to make his heart burn.

History.

Suddenly, Huexda pulls Kardia's heart from his chest, sees the fire surrounding it, and says it will be perfect for the sacrifice he will perform in two days. Sasha appears with Calvera. Huexda explains that he inserted his obsidian fang into Kardia to take his life. Kardia accepts Huexda's challenge to sacrifice his heart in two days. Huexda goes to an Aztec pyramid where he prepares the sacrifice of Kardia's heart and where he promised that his lady will be Calvera. Kardia calmly takes Huexda's threat, while Sasha and Calvera are worried. Calvera then talks about how her father was a healer and how he told her about protecting their land from the black jaguar with the power of the feathered serpent. Suddenly, Nahualpilli of Youaltepuztli, sent by Huexda to rip Kardia's skin off, appears. Nahualpilli attacks Kardia to steal his skin and no longer feel cold. Kardia accepts the proposal and gives him his warmth in the form of the Scarlet Needle. Kardia enjoys Nahualpilli's suffering, and when he was about to kill Nahualpilli, Sasha stops him. Because of Sasha's interference, Nahualpilli manages to take her hostage. At that very moment, Kardia has problems with his heart, while Nahualpilli flees with Sasha. Kardia wakes up and knows that Calvera went to resolve the matter with Huexda and save Sasha. Calvera appears before Huexda at the ritual, and Kardia also arrives in time. Kardia arrives in front of Huexda. Huexda attacks Kardia directly, who responds with the scarlet needle, but it doesn't hurt Huexda. Huexda orders Nahualpilli to kill Sasha, but she escapes thanks to Kardia's attacks. Nahualpilli hesitates to kill Sasha because she protected him and feels that if he kills her, he will feel cold again, something he doesn't feel now. Huexda attacks Sasha, but Nahualpilli protects her at the cost of his life, causing Scorpion's wrath.

History.

Huexda displays incredible power before Kardia, throws Kardia inside the temple, and Kardia manages to see his god Tezcalipoca. Huexda explains to Kardia how, thanks to the fang embedded in his heart, he is closer to resurrecting his god to destroy the world. By sacrificing Kardia's heart, everything will be ready for the complete resurrection of his god. Huexda plans to share that fate with Calvera, but she resists despite being under Huexda's spell. Huexda believes he has won the battle, but this extreme situation makes Kardia's heart burn even more, leading Kardia to use the ultimate scarlet needle, the Burning Scarlet Needle. Afterwards, Kardia releases Antares with his ultimate needle, mixing it with the inexplicable heat emanating from Kardia's heart, defeating Huexda. It seems to be the end of Kardia. Everything seemed to be over, but Huexda, with his last strength, asks Tezcatlipoca to destroy everyone around him. It is at that moment that Sasha awakens her powers as Athena. Sasha destroys the god, but cries for Kardia's sacrifice, as it was thanks to him that she did not fear her responsibility as a goddess. Calvera tells her not to fear, that she remembered her past, and transforms into Quetzalcoatl, giving Kardia her warmth. Kardia awakens, to the joy of the infant Athena. Then Calvera rebuilds her bar, while in the sanctuary, Dégel goes with Kardia to the Patriarch's chambers. He meets Sisyphus, who congratulates Kardia. Then they enter for the presentation of the Athena of the age. Kardia is surprised and happy to see what he sees, as is Athena, because thanks to Kardia's attitude and strength, she manages to become Athena and take the courage to lead a complete army for the beginning of the holy war.

History.

When Krest disappeared, Dégel was in charge of lowering Kardia's fever with his icy air, but when Aquarius was on a mission in France, Krest fell victim to the illness; fortunately, he arrived in time to help his friend. A few years before the start of the Holy War, he is seen saving Yato and his sister from a spirit attacking them (Earth Star of Madness), and the boy follows him to the Sanctuary. Later, he is seen going to Hades' Castle, along with the other Athena warriors ready to attack. At that time, he encounters Dégel of Aquarius and reproaches him for reading a book. When they have to return because Hades moved to the Lost Canvas, Kardia is found torturing Zeros of Rana, who had been a prisoner since the death of Hasgard of Taurus, interrogating him to obtain information about Hades. Dégel of Aquarius appears in the Scorpio temple and asks him to accompany him to Siberia on a mission. Initially, Kardia refuses, claiming he cannot withstand the cold climate and that he is not interested in such a boring mission, but when Dégel mentions that it concerns Poseidon, he quickly changes his mind, even hurrying his companion. Upon arriving at Bluegard, home of the ice saints, they are unsuccessfully attacked by the Blue Warriors – who were hooded – whom Kardia quickly defeats with his Scarlet Needle, mistaking them for spirits. It is while he realizes the similarity of his attackers' armors to those of the Sanctuary that he is surprised by the arrival of Unity, Dégel's childhood friend and lord of Blue Graad, who takes them to the place where the entrance to Atlantis, Poseidon's kingdom, is located.

History.

Before seeing the emperor of the seas, they are attacked by Radamanthys of Wyvern and Pandora. Radamanthys pierces Unity's chest, provoking Dégel's fury, who uses his Aurora Execution to attack the Judge of Hell. Faced with the failed attempt, Kardia intervenes and decides to stay and fight Radamanthys while Dégel advances to stop Pandora, who had already gone ahead to meet Poseidon. After a violent battle, Kardia discovers that Radamanthys is the rival he had sought for so long, the one who made his heart burn with a desire to fight. Therefore, he uses a variation of his Scarlet Needle Katakaio Antares, equating the level of heat in his heart with his cosmos, which has the side effect that he will also suffer from the wounds he inflicts on his enemy. This consequently ends up causing his heart to slowly stop, but not before seeing his opponent dead. With Unity's escape in a desperate attempt to complete the mission of both Golden Saints, Kardia reappears once more, infusing "heat" into the lord of Bluegard so that he does not lose the will to live and helping him escape the rubble, finally being buried along with the Aquarius saint.

Techniques/Attacks

•Restriction: This involves using psychokinesis to project mental waves that, upon reaching their target, completely immobilize their movements. •Scarlet Needle: This is a technique that directly attacks the enemy's central nervous system using a shock wave (produced by exceeding the sound barrier with the arm movement when striking) that emanates from the user's fingertip, so its intense pain also causes total paralysis. •Scarlet Needle Antares: Concentrates his cosmos at the tip of his finger to fire a bright red sphere from his fingertip, piercing his opponent and striking the point located in the center of the Scorpio constellation and in the center of the victim's torso, thus completing the Scarlet Needle with the fifteenth final blow. •Scarlet Needle Blaze: This is a technique based on scarlet flames. This technique consists of launching the first fourteen strikes of the Scarlet Needle simultaneously; all strikes are fired from the user's index fingernail, taking the form of energy spears that pierce the opponent's body. •Scarlet Assault Needle: This is characterized as an assault strike. This technique consists of launching all fifteen Scarlet Needle strikes simultaneously, surprising the opponent and inflicting fatal damage with a single blow. • Scarlet Needle Antares Katakaio: This attack activates when her heart reaches high temperatures, enough to kill her. It's based on heat, and using her index fingernail, she fires it into her opponent's bloodstream, boiling their blood and burning their flesh. Kardia is capable of using this attack with both hands, launching a powerful, fiery shockwave.
