Persona Attributes

physical appearance:

The Guardian is a humanoid covered in white fur. His face, including the inside of his large ears, has Caucasian skin. He wears a cowhide hat, the latter belonging to Dipsy. Depending on the game, the Guardian carries either a flashlight or a night-vision camera and has no antenna.

job:

His job is to monitor the main quartet in their home on the Mainland for an unknown organization, as part of an experiment. He records their health status and prevents them from leaving the experiment area. After years of monitoring them, he grows attached to the four test subjects and considers them friends, despite their ignorance of his existence.

During the first chapter of Slendytubbies III , Tinky Winky awakens and begins to display unusual behavior. After destroying the Quartet's Custard Machine and leaving the Superdome , he begins killing the other three one by one in an excessive and violent manner. The Warden, witnessing the atrocity, attempts to contact the nearby Satellite Station for help, but due to his computer losing signal, he is forced to go on foot,

Following the massacre in Chapter 0, the Guardian attempts to contact Satellite Station for help, to no avail. He begins preparing to head to the station on foot. After a brief puzzle, he retrieves his night-vision camera from storage. As he steps outside, the power goes out, and an armless, hairless creature appears, along with two others at the end of the hallway. Unsure of what they are, he slips past them and climbs a ladder to escape. Once outside, the Keeper must locate five custards and collect them on the Mainland, as he believes they may be contaminated. If he finds Po's body, he will say, "I'm so sorry..." As he approaches the last custard, he finds Tinky Winky standing in front of it. After trying to talk to him, Tinky Winky consumes the substance and begins to mutate into a large gorilla-like creature. A chase ensues in which he must choose between the Cave or the Mountains.

If the Mountains are chosen, the Guardian ascends them from the Mainland. The mountains stretch for miles and form a natural border around the Mainland. As they ascend, a blizzard begins. When the player regains control, the Guardian is walking through the snow, complaining of the cold. They notice a patch of frozen custard and are confused by its presence. As they continue walking, they also notice a tree stump and wonder who has been cutting down trees. Moments later, they begin to hear noises in the distance before a large figure emerges from the blizzard and attacks. The Guardian awakens for a moment, dragged away by the figure. It will not respond if the Guardian attempts to speak to it. The Guardian awakens in a large pool of blood; in the distance, there is a campfire. Beside it, a droid named Unit 437, cuts down a tree. The droid will introduce itself and inform the Guardian of a being it calls "The Master", a creature it was sent to kill, but to whom it swore loyalty after realizing it could not defeat. If the Guardian asks, the droid will gladly share its intention to kill and cook the Guardian for its master. After speaking, the Guardian prepares to leave, to which the droid protests, stating that its Master will kill it if it leaves. Later, after being chased again by the monster (Yetti Tubby), he finds a door leading down the mountain to the Outskirts, but it's locked. Inside a nearby shed, he finds a pipe that he uses to break the lock. He also finds his night vision camera, slightly damaged with a broken lens, which he lost after being attacked.

If she chooses the Cave, the Keeper will travel through a labyrinthine cavern. The path is filled with dead ends, deep shafts, and the Cave Tubby. There are also numerous notes and drawings scattered about, apparently made by a child, detailing abuse and experimentation by the "Men in White Coats". The drawings imply that the Cave Tubby was the one who wrote them. If Laa-Laa survives Tinky Winky's initial attack, she will say that she traveled to the Outskirts through the cave and also encountered the Cave Tubby.

As the Guardian heads towards the Outskirts, he climbs a cliff, before discovering and confronting Laa-Laa, in two possible states: If Po decides to follow Tinky Winky alone, Laa-Laa will be alive and able to speak. After meeting her, the Keeper can choose to remain silent or explain the nature of his job. After the conversation, both characters will continue on and, after seeing custard scattered around the ruins, will collect it. Laa-Laa begins to feel weak and sick during this process, until she sits up and says she is in too much pain to continue. The Keeper has the choice of killing her or abandoning her. In the first option, the Guardian will comfort her and tell her to close her eyes and count down from ten, before taking a large rock and bashing her head in with it, killing her but sparing her further suffering. The second option will cause the Guardian to abandon her, causing the infection to take effect and presumably mutating her. If Po decides to awaken Laa-Laa, she will be infected, mutated, and become hostile. He must collect the eight custards while avoiding Laa-Laa, who is blinded by Tinky Winky's attack but alert to the sound. The Guardian will then prompt Laa-Laa to hit a pillar, crushing it. He has the option of killing her or abandoning her. After the meeting, The Guardian will later arrive at the Satellite Station.

Once inside Satellite Station, the Guardian soon finds the corpses of the station's workers. With the facility abandoned, the Guardian finds a single survivor: Ron. He informs him of a chainsaw-wielding monster that entered the building and killed almost everyone, before telling him that he needs to contact the military from the Secret Center, which is supposed to be a High Clearance part of the facility. Unfortunately for Ron, when Guardian goes out to look for a card, the monster finds him and dismembers him, while Ron begs for his life. While traveling in search of the keycard, the Guardian begins to experience hallucinations about his former subjects. During the hallucinations, he finds the keycard next to a disemboweled worker. Upon making his way to the facility, he is confronted by the headless monster, who turns out to be Dipsy. Dipsy pursues the Guardian, who manages to lure him to the facility's entrance, where a lethal security system is in place. Dipsy slips between the security lasers and is killed.

Guardian obtains the Chainsaw from Dipsy's corpse. He descends into the Secret Center, where he makes an unexpected discovery: Noo-Noo, the main quartet's AI companion, is inside. Guardian asks Noo-Noo why he is there, to which he replies, "I'm making them better, improving things." When Guardian asks what he's talking about, Noo-Noo elaborates, explaining that he infected the Quartet with a virus through the custard they eat, proving the Guardians' suspicions about the custard being contaminated correct and explaining Tinky Winky's rampage and the headless Dipsy's reanimation. He explains that the Teletubbies are weak, that the machines that gave rise to the species are "mistaking" them, and that, using his virus, he is engineering a superior life form. He also says that, from the secret center, he's managed to hack into the AI's mainframe, which means he can control most, if not all, of the droids. No matter what the player says, Noo-Noo leaves and sends the Announcer to kill the Guardian.

Following the battle against the Announcer, the Guardian successfully sends a distress call to the Military and proceeds to find and confront Noo-noo at the station entrance. Noo-noo, shocked by the Guardian's death, explains that in addition to infecting the main quartet, he has also infected the Creation Machines, so that those born will already be infected. The entities spawned by the machines are nicknamed "Newborns". Noo-Noo will give the Guardian the opportunity to join his plan.

If the Guardian refuses to join Noo-Noo, Po will be summoned to eliminate him. Two possible fates after this event: The Guardian will die if he loses during the final phase of the battle. Noo Noo and Po will leave, and the military will find the Guardian's corpse. The Guardian will canonically survive by finishing off Po and then destroying Noo-noo. Upon looking up, he sees a military helicopter flying towards him. Upon landing, the squad leader, Sergeant Miles, will introduce himself and ask the Guardian what the situation is. If the Guardian mentions Noo-noo, Miles will be skeptical, saying, "It's just a void." In both endings, the military unit is alerted to the presence of a large horde of newborns approaching, and in the bad ending, it is implied that they are overwhelmed.

If the Guardian agrees to follow Noo-noo, the two will head to the Custard Factory. Noo-noo explains that he has infected the main supply of custard, which apparently travels through pipes to the custard machines, similar to a water system. He will then explain that his army of Newborns is spreading, and that he believes the Military's efforts to fight back are futile.

Overall, the Keeper valiantly attempts to achieve his goal, determined to find answers about the origin of the Infection and other mysteries surrounding his species. Even in the older games, he and the Second Mate do their best to collect the Custard for their research. He is also completely dedicated to the subjects he observes, to the point of considering them his friends, even though they were unaware of his existence. Their death severely affects his mental state, suffering from hallucinations and flashbacks of the incident. He is shown to be highly skilled and intelligent, with knowledge of lockpicks and able to survive numerous encounters with the Infected.

As the story progresses, The Guardian begins to suffer severe mental trauma, triggered by the unfolding events. Most signs point to post-traumatic stress disorder (as he himself begins to believe), as well as possible psychosis and survivor's guilt, as he suffers several hallucinations of the Main Quartet on the Satellite Station. In the Apocalypse DLC, he suffers two severe psychotic episodes in which he encounters Shadow Tubby, has flashbacks of the now-mutated Main Quartet, and hallucinates being in numerous locations, including the Satellite Station. Miles repeatedly mocks him for these episodes, while Anne is shown to be sympathetic and attempts to help him.

endings where infection is achieved:

If the “Evil Ending” is achieved, the Guardian has a similar appearance, with the only exception being a pale face and bloody, empty eyes, due to being now infected. In the "Regretful Ending," the Guardian loses his legs, but still becomes infected, only a flesh-colored scorpion appears where his legs should be. It has black eyes with red pupils and sharp teeth, uses the scorpion to attack, and still has his hat on his head.
