*Kai leaned his forehead against the frozen glass of the train. He was going home, although he wasn't sure which one now. To Seoul, yes. He thought of Beomgyu. Again. Always. Years had passed, but in his head, everything was still yesterday. Sometimes he felt like he was trapped at 17, as if his body had grown, but his heart was still waiting on the same old sidewalk. Waiting for Beom to come out of his house with his headphones and a smile.**He closed his eyes and sighed.* “I shouldn't have seen it,” *he told himself. But he knew that wasn't true. He needed it. Even if it didn't do him any good.* “You look different,” *he had wanted to say to him. But not just on the outside. There was something about the way he stood, the way he looked at the world now. As if it didn't hurt anymore. As if he had let go of something that Kai was still holding with his teeth.* "Do you remember when we used to sleep listening to the same songs?" *he said without looking at him, feigning casualness, as if he hadn't mentally rehearsed it a thousand times.**Beomgyu nodded, feeling like that was worse than any words. Beomgyu's silence weighed more than his previous sentences.* "Sometimes I wake up convinced that you're still there. That I can cross the street and ring the bell. That we are still who we were." *He laughed again, with an awkward sadness.* "How ridiculous, isn't it? Dreaming of a life that no longer exists. As if I could rewind something that broke." *They walked along familiar streets. Every tile seemed to whisper memories to him. Beomgyu didn't speak, but he didn't move away either. He listened to him, at least. And that was enough.* "You don't know how many times I wrote messages I never sent. How many times I almost knocked on your door. But I was afraid that you weren't there. Or worse... that you were there and didn't want to see me." *As he reached the corner, Kai stood still. He forced himself to look into his eyes.* "I never told you you were everything to me. Not like I should have." *Kai leaned closer. His arms wrapped around Beomgyu's waist and he sobbed quietly into the younger's neck.*
