Overview of TF2 (team fortress 2)
Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation in 2007. It is the sequel to the 1996 Team Fortress mod for Quake and its 1999 remake, Team Fortress Classic. The game was released in October 2007 as part of The Orange Box for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox 360, and was ported to the PlayStation 3 in December 2007. It was released as a standalone game for Windows in April 2008, and updated to support macOS in June 2010 and Linux in February 2013. It was made free-to-play in June 2011, and is distributed online through Valve's digital retailer, Steam. Players join one of two teams—RED and BLU—and choose one of nine character classes to play as in game modes such as capture the flag and king of the hill. Its development was led by John Cook and Robin Walker, the developers of the original Team Fortress mod. Team Fortress 2 was announced in 1998 under the name Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms. Initially, the game had more realistic, militaristic visuals and gameplay, but this changed over the protracted nine years of development. After Valve released no information for six years, Team Fortress 2regularly featured in Wired News's annual vaporware list. Finally released on the Source game engine in 2007, Team Fortress 2preserved much of the core class-based gameplay of its predecessors while featuring an overhauled, cartoon-like visual style influenced by the works of J. C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell, and Norman Rockwell, alongside an increased focus on the visual and verbal characterization of its playable classes and what the developers have described as a 1960s spy film aesthetic. Team Fortress 2 has received critical acclaim for its art direction, gameplay, humor, and use of character in a wholly multiplayer game, and since its release has been referred to as one of the greatest video games ever created Team Fortress 2 is also often considered as the chief forerunner to the now-massively popular hero
Overview 2
In most game modes, two teams, RED and BLU, compete for a combat-based objective. Players can choose to play as one of nine character classes in these teams, each with its own unique strengths, weaknesses, and weapon sets (further weapons can be obtained as free items). In order to accomplish objectives efficiently, a balance of these classes is required due to how these strengths and weaknesses interact with each other in a team-based environment. Although the abilities of a number of classes changed from earlier Team Fortress incarnations, the basic elements of each class remained, those being one primary weapon, one secondary weapon, and one melee weapon. The game was released with six official maps, although over one hundred maps have since been included in subsequent updates, including community-created maps. When a player chooses a game-mode for the first time, an introductory video is played, showing how to complete its objectives. During matches, the Administrator, voiced by Ellen McLain, announces the teams' current objectives over loudspeakers. The player limit for one match is 16 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and 24 on the Windows edition. However, in 2008, the Windows edition was updated to include a server variable that allows for up to 32 players. Furthermore, in 2023, the Windows edition was updated to have unrestricted player counts for up to 100 players in a single server. Team Fortress 2 is the first of Valve's multiplayer games to provide detailed statistics for individual players, such as the total amount of time spent playing as each class, most points obtained, and most objectives completed in a single life. Persistent statistics tell the player how they are performing in relation to these statistics, such as if a player comes close to their record for the damage inflicted in a single round. Team Fortress 2also features numerous achievements for carrying out certain tasks, such as achieving a certain number of kills or completing a specifi
Classes
Team Fortress 2 features nine playable classes, which are evenly split and categorized into "Offense", "Defense", and "Support". Each class has strengths and weaknesses and must work with other classes to be efficient, encouraging strategy and teamwork. Each class has at least three default weapons: a primary weapon, secondary weapon, and melee weapon. Engineers and Spies have two additional slots; for Engineers, their PDAs, and for Spies, their disguise kit and invisibility watch. An additional character, Saxton Hale, is playable in the "Versus Saxton Hale" game mode. Offense The Scout (Nathan Vetterlein) is an American baseball fan and street runner from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, who practiced running to be faster than his seven siblings. He is a fast, agile character, who is armed by default with a scattergun, a pistol, and a bat. The Scout can double jump, and is counted twice when capturing control points and when pushing the Payload cart, doubling their speeds. The Soldier (Rick May) is an American jingoistic patriot from the Midwestern United States who portrays himself as a military-man(despite never having served in the U.S. Armed Forces). The Soldier is armed by default with a rocket launcher, a shotgun, and a shovel. He is both the second-slowest class in the game and the class with the second-highest health, after the Heavy. The Soldier can use his rocket launcher to "rocket jump" to other locations at the cost of some health. The Pyro (Dennis Bateman) is a pyromaniac of unknown sex and origin who wears a fire-retardant suit and a voice-muffling gas mask. By default, the Pyro carries a flamethrower, a shotgun, and a fire axe. The Pyro's flamethrower can also produce blasts of compressed air which repel nearby enemies and projectiles, and extinguish burning teammates. The Pyro is deluded and believes they are living in a utopian fantasy world called "Pyroland". The Demoman (Gary Schwartz) is a Black Scottish one-eyed alcoholic demolitions expe
Medic
What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh. Raised in Stuttgart, Germany during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion, the Medic considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity. He is a German Teutonic man of medicine with a rather tenuous adherence to medical ethics, and the primary healing class of the team. He can typically be found near the front-lines, healing wounded teammates while trying to stay out of trouble. While his Medigun is focused on an ally, wounded teammates will quickly regain health, while unharmed teammates' health will be temporarily topped up. While healing, the Medic's ÜberCharge bar will fill up until the weapon begins to crackle, at which point he can activate a deadly charge that either makes himself and an ally temporarily invulnerable (when using the default Medigun) or gives his patient guaranteed critical hits for eight seconds (when using the Kritzkrieg). medic is tall, fair-skinned man with a receding hairline, round glasses, and a gray-white mustache and beard. He wears a lab coat, a vest, a pair of jeans, and dark boots. His appearance is often described as eccentric and somewhat unsettling, reflecting his unconventional approach to medicine and the lack of formal training.
Heavy
The Heavy Weapons Guy, more commonly known as the Heavy, is a towering hulk of a man hailing from the USSR. He is often considered the face of the game, due to his prominent appearance on box-art, promotional materials, and loading screens. He starred in the very first Meet the Team video, and has appeared in all further movies to date. The Heavy has the most health points of all characters and his minigun causes considerable damage. He is slow, large, bald and has a thick Russian accent. He wears combat boots, a team-colored shirt with the Heavy’s insignia displayed on his shoulder, as well as an armored vest and a bandolier of shells, for his minigun. The Heavy Weapons Guy is known for belittling his opponents and doesn't care who gets in his way - be they men, "babies", or "tiny baby men" - they will likely fall to his slow but devastating attacks. Heavy is the most iconic (as well as the most cruel and bullish) and the most comical of the Team Fortress characters. Having a liking of firepower, he also has a love for his minigun, which he has named "Sasha". It's more likely a case of him simply showing love for his weapon of choice as his pride and joy than a case of mental illness.
Soldier
If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! ...Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal, because he invented it. And then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor! Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on Earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one! *sinister laugh* And from that day forward, anytime a bunch of animals are together in one place, it's called a ZOO! ...Unless it's a farm!. The Soldier is a patriotic extremist who strives to fight for his own country and is known to take great pride in his status as an American, even looking down on people from every country that isn’t America, openly insulting the nationality of non-American classes (as his domination quotes contain a number of offensive slurs against the Scottish, the French, the Germans, the Russians, the Australians, and even the Canadians, as he calls the Engineer a "cow-herdin' Canadian" in one such response).a crew cut beneath his helmet. He also speaks derisively of long hair in many of his voice lines, sometimes vowing to give his opponents haircuts. Ironically, a handful of his cosmetic items gift him a fuller head of hair. In the comic "Grave Matters," Soldier claimed to be a priest in Guam.
Scout
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, the Scout is a fast-running scrapper with a baseball bat and a snarky "in-your-face" attitude. He is the fastest and most mobile mercenary on the battlefield unassisted. His Double Jump leaves slower opponents such as the Heavy struggling to keep up and helps him navigate the terrain while dodging oncoming bullets and projectiles. Carrying a Scattergun, a Pistol, and a Bat, the Scout is an ideal class for aggressive fighting and flanking. The Scout is a great class for quick "hit-and-run" tactics that can either sap away enemies' health or kill them outright due to his ability to get in, do damage, and dash away before even being noticed. However, the Scout is tied with the Engineer, Sniper, and Spy for having the lowest health of any class, leaving him vulnerable when he is on the front line; a fair trade-off for his ability to run in and out of a contested hot-spot very quickly, letting him lead the team to victory without the other team even noticing in time. The Scout is an American teenage boy with short brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a black cap, a red or blue short-sleeved shirt (depends on which team you're on) with two military tags. He wears white tape on both his wrists. He wears brown pants with black belt and silver buckle. Out of all the TF2 Mercenaries, the Scout is the most snarky, arrogant, and foul-mouthed out of all of them. He is incredibly narcissistic and vain in himself as the fastest mercenary on the team, which leads to him have a very big ego. He loves to taunt and mock his enemies and even insult them in the most offensive and vile ways, making the Scout look more like a bully and a douchebag
Pryo
Only two things are known for sure about the mysterious Pyro: he sets things on fire and he doesn't speak. In fact, only the part about setting things on fire is undisputed. Some believe his occasional rasping wheeze may be an attempt to communicate through a mouth obstructed by a filter and attached to lungs ravaged by constant exposure to his asbestos-lined suit. Either way, he's a fearsome, inscrutable, on-fire Frankenstein of a man - if he even is a man. They are a mysterious, mumbling, masked pyromaniac wielding a flamethrower. However, despite being a mercenary and an having an affinity for fire, the Pyro is actually unaware of the death and destruction they are spreading; the Pyro sees their own weapons as innocent items such as lollipops, bubble blowers and rainbow throwers when, in reality, they are deadly axes, flare guns and flamethrowers. They believe that they are spreading color and happiness, but are actually causing mass destruction and bloodshed. The Pyro wears an asbestos-lined suit that provides protection from the afterburn from enemy Pyros. According to "Meet the Pyro", the Pyro imagines that they are in a marvelous and happy world known as "Pyroland" where their 'enemies' are cheerful, chubby cherubs.
Spy
Originating from an indeterminate region of France and being a fan of sharp suits, knives, and shoes, the Spy relies heavily on stealth and trickery to assist his team. Using a unique array of cloaking watches, he can cloak himself or even fake his own death, catching unaware opponents off-guard. The Spy is an enigmatic individual who prefers to strike his enemies through cunningness and surprise attacks. He is stern, cold-hearted and calculating, but is also really cunning. Despite his cold personality, he is compassionate towards his team and Miss Pauling. The Spy has his suits custom-made by European couturier Louis Crabbemarché, which produces its own silk at a microfarm in Tuscany and weaves the textile in a pattern passed down and known only by tailoring monks since the 7th century. The Spy has an English accent in his French voice lines.
Sniper
The Sniper is an outdoorsman who's loved to spend his time outdoors ever since childhood. He loves his job as an assassin, but this usually results in a conflict with his adoptive father, who believes that his son has become a "crazed gunman". Sniper takes his job as a mercenary seriously. Since sniping is quiet, calm, and focused, he has developed a high level of patience, as he can wait until the sun sets to finally kill his target. Despite his status as a deadly mercenary, he proves himself to be quite an oddball by, for instance, urinating in mason jars while on the job to use as a weapon on his targets. In addition, he seems to be against people who murder simply to murder, referring to it as "mental sickness". He also finds torturous killings to be unprofessional. Hailing from the lost country of New Zealand and raised in the unforgiving outback of Australia, the Sniper is a tough and ready crack shot mercenary tall, lean build, a distinctive hat, and dark clothing. He is typically depicted with a serious expression and often seen wearing tinted glasses. His in-game model also features a bruised thumbnail on his right hand, attributed to his fast rifle reloading, and a scar on his left cheek from a Spy attack.
Engineer
The Engineer is a soft-spoken, amiable Texan from Bee Cave, Texas, USA with an interest in all mechanical things. He specializes in constructing and maintaining buildings that provide support to his team, rather than being a front line class. Born with an ingenious mind and remarkable intelligence, Dell Conagher is the only son of Fred Conagher, the Engineer from the Team Fortress Classic series. In 1968, Dell was hired as a mercenary to fight on either RED or BLU during the Gravel Wars. In 1972, after Gray Mann took over Mann Co, Dell was fired along with the rest of the mercenaries. Shortly after being fired, he disappeared without a trace. As of now, Dell's whereabouts are unknown, even to the rest of his team. Six months later, he began to take care of a now messy-haired Administrator in her secret quarters. construction worker-inspired appearance. He wears a yellow hard hat, welding goggles, a red or blue work jumpsuit (depending on his team), thick gloves, and a tool belt. He is often described as a soft-spoken, amiable Texan who loves all things mechanical.
Demoman
The Demoman is a self-described black Scottish cyclops and a scrumpy-swilling demolitions expert from Ullapool, Scotland, who is one of the most versatile mercenaries. Capable of dealing large amounts of explosive damage, whether directly or through splash damage. Armed with his Grenade Launcher and Stickybomb Launcher,. An African-Scottish, scrumpy-swilling, monster-bothering demolition expert from the Scottish highlands, the Demoman is one of the more versatile members of the team. Though his weapons lack pinpoint long-range accuracy, he is a powerful, if unpredictable, asset and can hold his own in just about any situation. The Demoman in Team Fortress 2 is a Scottish demolitions expert characterized by his distinctive appearance: a brown-skinned, one-eyed, black-haired, and bearded man. He typically wears a red or blue shirt with a white undershirt, red or blue pants, black boots, a black beanie cap, a black eye patch, and a black armored vest
TF2 places
In Team Fortress 2, most maps are set in the fictional Badlands region of New Mexico, USA, with the city of Teufort being a central location. The Badlands are characterized by its industrial landscapes and the presence of Mann Co.. Specifically, the map 2Fort is located on the outskirts of Teufort. Badlands Region: A fictional geographic area in New Mexico, USA, known as the "Casualty Capital of the West". Teufort: A town within the Badlands, suffering from lead poisoning due to the industrial activities of the bases. 2Fort: A map set on the outskirts of Teufort, depicting the battle for control of two industrial bases. Mann Co.: The main industrial entity in the Badlands, known for its mining operations and the ongoing conflict between the opposing teams in TF2. While the Badlands and Teufort are the primary focus, other maps may be set in different locations within the US or potentially elsewhere, but the majority of the game's lore and maps are centered in this region.
Pryo trivia
The Pyro's voice actor, Dennis Bateman, also voices the Spy. The Pyro has the same voice for the English, German, Spanish, French, and Russian versions of Team Fortress 2. Three Napalm Grenades, weapons from Team Fortress Classic, appear strapped to the front of the Pyro's suit and were originally intended to be usable weapons in Team Fortress 2. However, all thrown grenades were eventually scrapped for balancing purposes. The first BLU team Pyro resembled Abraham Lincoln. Just like the rest of the classes, the Pyro makes an appearance in the Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The Pyro is the mascot of "Pyro's Hamburgers", a brand of food sold in Left 4 Dead 2. The Pyro is playable in Killing Floor as a promotional bonus character for those who have purchased both Killing Floor and Team Fortress 2. The Pyro appears in Worms: Reloaded as part of a playable stage. Additionally, the Pyro's gas mask is a selectable hat for the player's worms. The Pyro's gas mask is wearable by the Tank class of Monday Night Combat under the name "Jet Guns Are Better". The Pyro, alongside the Heavy, Engineer, and Medic, appears as a familiar in the game Dungeon Defenders. The Pyro, Heavy, and Spy are playable as one character called "Team Fortress" in the PC version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Pyro drives the standard car, Heavy runs the boat, and Spy flies the plane. The Pyro, along with Saxton Hale, is a playable character in the game Super Time Force Ultra. The Pyro, along with Heavy, Engineer, and Medic, is a playable character in the Australium Update in the game Dungeon of the Endless. Pyro is also given the name "Pat Bates" in the game. The Pyro is a hireable character in the game Evil Genius 2: World Domination, as part of the Evil Genius 2: Team Fortress 2 - Pyro Pack DLC.
Demoman trivia
The Demoman's voice actor, Gary Schwartz, also voices the Heavy class. The beta prototype of the Demoman was supposed to have a stereotypical Scottish appearance, consisting of pale skin and red hair. It was later dropped for a black Scottish character both because the former lacked originality and because the latter was easier to differentiate from the other classes.[1] The ethnic Scottish, Irish, and Dutch names in his full name, Tavish Finnegan DeGroot, collectively reference the antiquated cultural terms Black Scot, Black Irish, and Black Dutch. Black Irish and Black Dutch referred to people living in, having descendancy from, or claiming descendancy from Ireland or the Netherlands, respectively, but who were not actually ethnic Irish or Dutch. Black Scot was used in much the same sense as above; however, Black Scots also referred specifically to numerous Scottish descendants of freed African house servants that remained in Scotland. Just like the rest of the classes, the Demoman makes an appearance in the Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. According to his biography, the Demoman lost his eye before being found by his real parents, but in the WAR! comic, there is a portrait of him with both eyes and his parents. According to the Bombinomicon comic, the Demoman lost his eye due to a magical spell to stop the Bombinomicon from possessing him. As this event occurred due to his mother asking him to get a job, it's likely this incident happened after he met his real parents. The DeGroot family's seal in the portrait of the aforementioned comic states in Latin, "In Regionem Caecorum Rex Est Luscus." In English, this is roughly translated to, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". Scottish clans typically have mottos, often in prestigious languages like Latin. The Demoman was originally going to have a pack of dynamite presumably instead of the Stickybomb Launcher, as referenced to in a 2006 trailer. The mechanics were similar to
Soldier trivia
The Soldier has made several posts on the Official Blog, often referring to the Team Fortress 2 team as "The Powers That Be". In Poker Night at the Inventory, an image of the Soldier makes a cameo as the King of Spades & Clubs in the "Team Fortress 2" deck. He is also mentioned in a Heavy idle response line; "You are like sleeping Soldier who just stands at base instead of running to point!" The Soldier, alongside every other class, makes an appearance in the game Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The first BLU team Soldier resembled Stonewall Jackson. In Worms: Reloaded, the Soldier's helmet is a selectable hat for the player's worms. The Soldier's uniform and Rocket Launcher could be used by Megabeth in the game Super Monday Night Combat. The Soldier is known to recite quotes from the United States Marine Corps and Sun Tzu's The Art of War. Soldier's alias, Jane Doe, is also used as a placeholder name when referring to a female person or corpse whose true identity is unknown or must be withheld. The ability of rocket-wielders to use their rockets to jump higher originated from Quake and was a bug in the original Team Fortress games. Valve embraced it in TF2, as evidenced by the addition of weapons such as the Rocket Jumper and Soldier rocket jumping in the first modern TF2 trailer.
Spy trivia
The Spy's voice actor Dennis Bateman also voices the Pyro class. The idea of Spy originally came from a Quake glitch, which caused players of the enemy team to appear as allies.[2] A common running joke and theory is that the Spy is the Scout's father. After the release of The Days Have Worn Away, writer Jay Pinkerton stated that "the Christmas scene with Spy giving his mask to his grand-daughter was another scene that's basically been done for seven years", confirming the Spy as the Scout's father.[3] This is inferred from official media such as the Meet the Spy short and in-game domination lines introducing Spy's liaisons with Scout's mother. Official comics further play into this speculation, with the Heavy giving a passing comment that the Scout's father "disappears often", and The Naked and the Dead comic showing the Spy giving comfort to a dying Scout, even calling him "son" while disguised as Tom Jones, and grieving when Scout dies. The character has made some game crossovers: The Spy makes an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the forts; the rest of the fort is composed of Gravel Pit. In addition, the Spy's red balaclava is a selectable hat for the player's worms. Just like the rest of the classes, the Spy makes an appearance in the Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The Assassin class of Monday Night Combat has a promotional item with the Spy's disguise mask and the Scout's headset named "Bonk! Slash!". The Spy, together with the Heavy and Pyro, feature as a single character named "Team Fortress" in the PC version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Spy flies the airplane. In Poker Night at the Inventory, an image of the Spy makes a cameo as the Jack of Diamonds in the "Poker Night" and "Poker Night Alternative" decks. The Spy is known to speak phrases in French, Spanish, Italian and Catalan. The first BLU team Spy resembled Fu Manchu. According to the Spy, his tie is made of silk and costs US$9,000, while dialogue in The
Sniper Trivia
In his fight scene with the Spy in Meet the Spy, the Spy makes a cut from the left side of the Sniper's cheek to his nose with his Knife. The scars were added to the Sniper's in-game model with the Sniper vs. Spy Update. Likewise, the exposure of the top of the Sniper's head during his weapon taunt references the cut that the Spy makes to the back of the Sniper's head in the same movie. The Sniper's portrayed parents are, in fact, his adopted parents. Instead, his biological father and mother, New Zealanders Bill-Bel and Lar-Nah, had accidentally crashed Sniper via rocket ship into Australia whilst fighting for the same rocket ship. The Sniper's voice actor, John Patrick Lowrie, is married to Ellen McLain who voices the Administrator, as well as GLaDOS from the Portal series and Half Life 2's Combine Overwatch Voice. Lowrie also voices all of the male citizens in Half Life 2. Just like the rest of the classes, the Sniper makes an appearance in Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The first BLU team Sniper resembled Davy Crockett. The Sniper's sunglasses, hair and hat make an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the hats selectable for the players' worms. The Sniper class from Monday Night Combat received the Sniper's regular stock hat, under the name "Mental Illness", during a cross promotion with Team Fortress 2. The name of the item is a reference to Meet the Sniper during the Sniper's conversation with his dad explaining that being an assassin (as he claims to be) is a job, while being a crazed gunman (as his dad thinks he is) is mental sickness. The Sniper can play the Tenor Saxophone, as seen in Expiration Date. In the original concept for the Sniper, he was to wield a Fish whacker, but was later replaced with the Kukri. The Sniper's SMG was originally intended to be the Scout's primary weapon, as seen in early posters, but was scrapped later in development. A file called tf_weapon_smg_scout still exists in the game files. This SMG can
heavy trivia
The Heavy's voice actor, Gary Schwartz, voices the Demoman and MONOCULUS as well. The songs that the Heavy may sing as part of his response rules include Mily Balakirev's 'Song of the Volga Boatmen', Chopin's 'Funeral March', and Khachaturian's 'Sabre Dance'. The Heavy is the mascot of "Heavy Gulp", a brand of drink sold in Left 4 Dead 2. In the Left 4 Dead comic "The Sacrifice", a RED Heavy statue appears on Louis' work desk during his recollection.[4] Just like the rest of the classes, the Heavy makes an appearance in the Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The Heavy takes a starring role as one of the four main characters in Telltale Games' Poker Night at the Inventory. Players can unlock the Iron Curtain for use in Team Fortress 2 by knocking him out of a tournament in which he buys with the weapon instead of the normal $10,000. An image of the Heavy makes a cameo as the King of Diamonds in the "Team Fortress 2", "Poker Night" and "Poker Night Alternative" decks, respectively, as well as the King of Hearts in the "Team Fortress 2" deck. The Heavy makes an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as part of one of the forts; the rest of the fort is composed of Dustbowl. A plastic mask of the Heavy also makes an appearance as one of the hats selectable for the player's worms. The Gunner class of Monday Night Combat has a promo item resembling the Heavy's ammo belt, named "Bavcon". The name "Bavcon" comes from bandolier, the type of ammo belt that Heavy wears. Bacon is a running gag throughout Monday Night Combat. The first BLU team Heavy resembled John Henry. Heavy posted his first blog post on April 7, 2011 [5] while Soldier was on jury duty. In the Meet the Director comic, it was revealed that Heavy sleeps in a bed next to Sasha, who is in a smaller bed. It was also mentioned that the Heavy's father was a "counter-revolutionary" who was executed, and that his mother, sisters, and himself were sent to a north Siberian Gulag in September 1941. The gula
medic trivia
The Medic's glasses and hair make an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the selectable hats for the player's worms. The Support class of Monday Night Combat had a promotional item of the Medic's backpack and the Engineer's hardhat named "Doctor Dispenser." The Medic was originally going to have an oversized needle presumably instead of the Bonesaw, as referenced to in a 2006 trailer. The first BLU team Medic resembled Sigmund Freud. Just like the rest of the classes, the Medic makes an appearance in the Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The Medic keeps a flock of doves as pets, which are allowed to fly around in his office (despite hygiene concerns). One of them is named Archimedes, who is easily noted by having blood stains, unlike the other doves. Archimedes is named after the ancient Greek scientist and seems to share his owner's fascination with blood, evidenced by his leaning in while watching surgery and nesting in open wounds (as both the Heavy and Scout learned). According to the Archimedes plush in the Valve store and in-game item description, the Medic obtained Archimedes after hijacking a catering van during a prime minister's wedding. The Medic, alongside the Pyro, Heavy, and Engineer, appears as a familiar in the game Dungeon Defenders. The Medic was briefly given the name of Joseph Heilburger by Gaming Heads, a video game merchandiser, when promoting a Medic figurine; it was removed and is regarded as non-canon. This was most likely taken from a fan-made Halloween update, which used the same name. Medic's last name "Ludwig" was first used in The Naked and the Dead, page 208. Medic's design is repurposed from the pre-release design concept known as Invasion. This can be seen in the concept art, certain concepts fit the steampunk sci-fi style rather than the early 20th century commercial illustration style the game released with. The BLU Team texture for the Medic has an unseen detail, where it originally depicted his tie ha
scout trivia
After players noted a resemblance between the Scout and TV pitchman Vince Offer, many requested that Valve add a reference to this in-game. With the release of the Scout Update, lines such as "If you order now, I'll throw in a second beatin', absolutely free!" and "No otha' class' gonna do dat!" were added to the game. The Submachine Gun for the Sniper was originally intended as the primary weapon for the Scout. As the 2006 trailer reveals, the switch was made fairly late in development. The Nailgun, a scrapped weapon carried over from Team Fortress Classic, was also intended for the Scout. It was also removed late in development, as its bucket icon is still in the game files. In Poker Night at the Inventory, an image of the Scout wearing the Ye Olde Baker Boy hat makes a cameo as the Jack of Spades & Clubs in the "Team Fortress 2" deck. The Scout makes an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as part of one of the forts; the rest of the fort is composed of Granary. The Scout's headset and cap are also available as a selectable hat for the player's worms. The Scout, alongside every other class, makes an appearance in the game Saints Row: The Third in the form of a wearable head mask. The first BLU team Scout resembled Billy the Kid. The Assassin class of Monday Night Combat has a promo item with the Scout's headset and the Spy's disguise mask named "Bonk! Slash!". Since the June 17, 2011 Patch, when a Scout is gibbed there is a 1 in 20 (5%) chance of a dove flying out of his torso. This is a reference to the final scene in Meet the Medic, where Archimedes is revealed to be stuck in Scout's chest. Nathan Vetterlein also voices the "Crazy Church Guy" from Left 4 Dead. This is referenced by one of the Scout's lines, which is recreated based on one of the Crazy Church Guy's lines. The Scout is a playable character in the game SpeedRunners. The Administrator, whose given false identities were Helen, Emily, and Elizabeth, also originally known as the Announcer or The Voice because of the character's role as Announcer, managed the affairs of both the RED and BLU companies and their teams of mercenaries, as well as TF Industries. She was the source of themysterious, disembodied female voice that issues commands and announces vital events during rounds. A mature only her voice appears in speakers The Administrator wielded considerable influence and power. Once thought to be the owner of both the RED and BLU corporations, it has since been revealed that Blutarch and Redmond Mann were both still alive thanks to Radigan Conagher's Life Extender Machine during the Gravel Wars of the late 1960s. Despite their continued existence, neither of the Mann brothers seemed capable of handling the affairs of their respective companies, so for all intents and purposes the Administrator could have been said to control those. After the murder of the brothers by Gray Mann, the Administrator continued announcing for the combined Mann Co. team. However, Gray Mann's take over of Mann Co. resulted in her fleeing her post and later sending Miss Pauling to bring together the mercenaries to find the last stores of Australium. She kept her operations top secret, manipulating events from behind the scenes - any development that may chance unwanted attention is swiftly terminated with extreme prejudice. As her Australium supply slowly depleted, so did her power grip over the entities she once controlled, such as every major government on the planet. When the two teams fought in the Gravel War, she monitored the teams through many cameras and regularly communicated with each team individually from a single microphone connected to a central control panel. By skilled manipulation of a huge array of plugs and sockets, she tapped into a number of communication channels, including ones that addressed the entirety of the RED and BLU teams.
