Who is Valentino Calavera?

Valentino Calavera (often nicknamed Val) is one of the main characters in Victor & Valentino. He is Victor's half-brother.

Personality of Valentino Calavera

Valentino's distinctive personality includes prioritizing artistry and quality in everything he does. He also has a habit of collecting objects and is tireless until he completes his collection of an object, such as antique coins or keyboards. As shown in The Dark Room, he is passionate about photography. However, he is not good at sports, particularly soccer, which makes him vulnerable to being looked down upon by Victor. However, throughout the series, she displays a more mature personality than Victor. She is often shown to be responsible in looking after him, especially during his mischief. When they are not on their adventures, she is usually in charge of Chata's food cart. On some occasions he is shown to be immature, in A New Don he is seen very excited to play a joke on Don Jalapeño, in another episode, Los Cadejos, Val holds a grudge against Victor for telling him his secret that he still slept with a teddy bear (Senior Bubbles or Cuddles) and refused to "Squash the meat" until he saw that Vic was in danger. Being the more mature of the two, Valentino (along with Vic) receives Chata's yelling. Although Val is generally nice, there are some people she considers "weird," including Guillermo, Reynalda and Reynaldo, Charlene, and Pineapple (sometimes).

Victor Calavera

Victor is Valentino's younger half-brother. They enjoy having fun together, although they don't always get along. They both love each other very much, and Valentino would never bear to see his brother in danger, but Victor's immaturity and recklessness often get them into trouble. Victor is Valentino's younger brother, who is always teasing, making fun of him, or having fun with him. Valentino and Isabella are very good friends. He met her shortly after he and Victor arrived at Monte Macabre for their summer vacation. In Starry Night, Valentino's crush on Isabella had noticeably intensified. He was surprised and delighted to see Isabella at Reyna's outdoor sleepover, and they enjoyed chatting and laughing together until Isabella told him her story about the Tzitzimime. Valentino refused to tolerate Victor's rudeness simply because Isabella was there and wanted to take full advantage of it. During the campfire in the woods, Valentino was completely obsessed with Isabella, from eagerly listening to her every word to blushing profusely whenever she came near him. He was blissfully unaware that she was possessed by a Tzitzimime until Victor pointed it out. After Isabella seemingly broke free of the Tzitzimime, Valentino called to see if she was okay, and she responded by offering to go temple hunting with him again someday. He continued cooking mixotes with Isabella, but Victor ruined Valentino's plans again by accidentally spilling magic smoke on him.

Dinner finally arrived, and Valentino was sure he would impress Isabella, until Chata and Victor arrived to dine with them. Valentino was initially saddened to cancel the date, but Isabella offered to help him. After questioning Don and the fruit vendor, Isabella had to leave to see her mother for a manicure and pedicure, but promised Valentino she would return when he was ready to solve the case. Isabella kissed him on the cheek, leaving him stunned and lovelorn. After losing sight of the fake Don, Victor and Valentino followed the trail to a dark cave, where they discovered the numerous fake furs, as well as Isabella happily dancing around a campfire. The two were confused as to what she was doing in the cave until Isabella removed her fake fur and transformed into her true, monstrous self, much to Valentino's horror. Valentino was so shocked by the revelation that he fainted after Isabella fled the cave.

While searching through the town, Valentino realized that he never knew Isabella's phone number, where she lived, or had even met her family. With that, he began to doubt the identity of his crush, until Isabella suddenly appeared at Don Jalapeño's shop. Valentino ran to embrace his missing love, stricken with tears and worry. Still overcome with relief, Valentino believed Isabella's explanation and accepted her invitation to meet her mother. Despite Xochi and Victor's warnings, Valentino stood up for his "girlfriend" and set off into the desert with Isabella. Upon reaching the desert, Valentino expressed concern for Isabella, who took his hand and assured Valentino that she was there with him. Unaware of what it really was, Valentino kept openly commenting on how repulsive the monster was to Isabella, prompting her to attack it and take it to the moon until Victor, Don, and Xochi stopped her. After a brief fight, Valentino continued to interrogate the monster about the "real" Isabella. When the monster confirmed that it was Isabella, a shocked Valentino continued to deny it and reiterated that it was a monster. Heartbroken and betrayed, Isabella fled to the moon, leaving Valentino to call out to her in despair.

Isabella

In A Simpler Life: Ayohuih Nemilitzli, Valentino was depressed about his recent breakup with Isabella. In "Star Child", Valentino is shocked to discover that Isabella has been hiding from him and lying to him all this time. He angrily tells Isabella that he never wants to see her again as she runs away heartbroken. In "The Fall of the Fifth Sun", Isabella arrives at the last second to save Valentino before Tez throws her into space as punishment for her betrayal. In her final moments, she tells Valentino and Victor that they can still save Monte Macabre by finding her grandfather. As her body disintegrates in space, her last words to Valentino are that she was glad to have finally met him, while Valentino is devastated and heartbroken by the loss of Isabella.
