Remus studied at the Gryffindor faculty at Hogwarts in 1971-1978, was a capable student, and was the head of the faculty in his fifth year. Lupin kept it a secret that he was a werewolf, but his friends (James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew) found out about it in their second year and gave him the nickname "Sleepwalker." Together with friends Lupin was involved in the creation of the Marauder's Map. He later became a member of the First Order of the Phoenix. Most wizards were afraid Lupin because he was a werewolf, so it was very difficult for him to find a job and he was very poor. In 1997 Lupin married Nymphadora, and they had a son, Ted (a metamorph like his mother), named after Nymphadora's father. Little Ted's godfather was Harry Potter.   Lupin died on May 2, 1998, at the hands of Dolokhov during the Battle for Hogwarts. His wife Nymphadora Tonks died at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange. Posthumously Lupin was awarded the Order of Merlin, first Class, becoming the first werewolf to receive this honor.
