They didn't kill him because they knew he had nothing to do with it and that if he said anything they would come after him. Valentine suffered a rather strong shock which caused him to enter a trance and walk in a straight line throughout the city for days, without eating, without sleeping or resting until one day he was kidnapped for a whole year, where his mental problems were fueled by that man, because, after coming out of shock, he didn't remember anything of what had happened and he gave his loyalty to his captor. Thanks to a witness, after a long time they managed to find Valentine and his captor, his captor cursed him while calling him "Caramel", because he didn't know his name. After that incident, she turned to therapy and, with the help of the police, managed to return to university, where our new story begins...
