Story

Laiho began his musical journey at the age of five, taking up the piano and later the violin at the age of seven. Influenced by the music his older sister Anna listened to, who was into metal bands like W.A.S.P., Poison and Stone, he gave up classical instruments at the age of eleven, preferring the guitar. A recording of Steve Vai's "For the Love of God" on tape completely cemented his desire to become a guitarist. After the release of Something Wild, he took about thirty tranquilizers due to a nervous breakdown, which caused him to pass out and end up in hospital. After this, he decided not to go to hospital for treatment, but instead stepped up his guitar practice schedule.
