Sephiroth

Appearance

Sephiroth appears as a tall, muscular, and athletic young man, approximately 27 years old, with long hair reaching his lower hips and two bangs on either side of his head reaching his chest. His skin is pale, and his turquoise eyes take on feline characteristics due to the influence of Jenova cells present in him. As for clothing, Sephiroth wears a long black coat with silver epaulets, black boots, and black trousers. The top of his coat is open to reveal his chest, with his leather straps bearing the SOLDIER emblem crossed over it. Sephiroth's long silver hair has bangs parted on either side of his face. Sephiroth's weapon is a Masamune katana, disproportionately longer than Sephiroth himself, which he wields with ease and flexibility, holding it with both hands.

Personality

Before his fall from grace, as depicted in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, Sephiroth maintained a distant and professional demeanor while a Shinra soldier. He is known for not mingling with almost anyone besides his only friends, Angeal Hewley and Genesis Rhapsodos, and for being indifferent to his fans. He can act humanely and affectionately in contrast to his reputation, befriending Zack due to their shared reluctance to hunt their friends and desire to bring them back, and asking Cloud how he felt returning to his hometown, lacking a similar experience himself. Sephiroth is intelligent and shows a sense of respect for those he considers worthy; he notably appreciates Professor Gast and shows disdain for Professor Hojo. Using polite and elegant vocabulary, Sephiroth appears calm, serene, and without a hint of losing control of the situation, adding a rather dry sense of humor to his words. At times, he can be frustrated and taken by surprise. As the strongest SOLDIER, Sephiroth is confident to the point of arrogance, but he has no interest in personal glory, as he tells Genesis, who envies Sephiroth's reputation, that he can have it. Once he discovers the truth behind the experiments that led to his birth, Sephiroth goes completely insane, radically changing his personality, becoming extremely cruel, sadistic, vengeful, and ruthless. Sephiroth then begins to develop a megalomaniacal complex, believing himself to be a God destined to rule the planet. Proof of his cruelty is the sadistic pleasure he shows in psychologically torturing Cloud. Sephiroth is dedicated to Jenova and her cause; although his body serves as little more than her avatar, he has become an agent carrying out Jenova's will.

History

When the Shinra Company found the remains of a woman in the Northern Crater, they believed it to be an ancient Cetra or Elder. This creature, which was named Jenova, was actually a kind of alien entity. Shinra intended to use her cells to create humans with the powers of the Ancients. This is how Project Jenova was born, led by Professor Gast. The experiments were divided into two branches: Project S, led by Professor Hojo, and Project G, led by Professor Hollander. Sephiroth was born from Project Jenova. Hojo and Lucrecia injected Jenova cells into their son while he was still in the fetal stage. Sephiroth was born, and his mother, repentant, committed suicide weeks later because she was not allowed to see or hold him; she loved him, even though in her dreams she saw what her son would do. Sephiroth demonstrated incredible powers and quickly rose to the high ranks of SOLDIER along with Genesis Rhapsodos and Angeal Hewley, those born from Project Jenova G. Although both projects were similar in conception, Sephiroth and Genesis were very different biologically, and while Genesis's powers deteriorated, Sephiroth's increased. This is because Sephiroth was directly inoculated with Jenova cells and cannot transfer genes to other creatures.

History

Sephiroth achieved the rank of First Class SOLDIER before the Shinra-Wutai war. He had become so powerful that special contingency clauses had to be maintained by the organization in case he decided to switch sides. However, Sephiroth demonstrated his full power in the war against Wutai, and along with other soldiers like Zack Fair, quickly ended the war, allowing Shinra to become the world government. When Sephiroth learned of his origin years later, he took revenge and began to control Jenova's body. At that moment, Sephiroth manifested himself through her. All the actions carried out by Jenova since then can be attributed to Sephiroth. Then, Sephiroth began using Jenova's body to search for the Black Materia and bring it to his body in the Northern Crater. At a certain point in the story, Sephiroth kills Aerith while she was summoning Holy (to stop him), using the White Materia, the only magic capable of stopping Meteor. Sephiroth managed to summon Meteor. Later, he traveled inside the planet through the Northern Crater to contain the Holy magic summoned by Aeris. However, both Jenova and Sephiroth are defeated by the group formed by Cloud Strife and his companions. He/She was born on November 12th, meaning his/her zodiac sign would be Scorpio.

Curiosities

The Masamune: Sephiroth's sword, Masamune, is one of the most recognizable weapons in the Final Fantasy saga. It is said to be unable to shed blood and is a reference to the Masamune sword from Japanese mythology. The sword is so large (3 meters and 14 cm) that only Sephiroth can wield it. The origin of Sephiroth: Sephiroth is the son of Professor Hojo and Lucrecia, and is said to have been created as part of an experiment using Jenova cells. .
